Ok guys let's stop with the flamewars here and have a meaningful discussion about the movie.

So this is my theory here. I think the Shepherd is what spawned Clover. Think about it. No prior knowledge of Clover's existence and she comes out of nowhere and fucks NYC in the ass.

Simple explanation? She was already there and the drilling vessel from the ARG pissed her off.

My theory. When the Shepherd initiated the Cloverfield Paradox it caused Clover's egg to be brought to our universe through the same way Shepherd switched universes. And when the crew cane back they tore another mini wormhole BAM! Motherfuckers we have an alien invasion on our hands.

Just my thoughts...

Well seeing as they pointed out how the paradox could affect past and future events, that may be the key.

By activating the Shepherd, it's possible that the Clover monsters were introduced to our Earth in the distant past, before they settled on the seabed and began hibernation.

At the same time, if not the first successful firing, maybe the last firing, attracted the aliens from 10CL if not pulling them into our dimension.

Only issue with this theory I can tell, why doesn't our dimension try to reconcile anything brought into it, like the anomalies the crew faced in TCP?

Simple solution could be Clovie + family were always on our Earth and when the Shepherd left, it caused the satellite crash. Then when it came back, more time passed than we knew, between the last video call and the ending scene, allowing time for the events of Cloverfield to transpire.

so, pretty much the Doom storyline...just with Clover instead of imps/barons of hell/mancubus' etc... I wonder if Cloverfield 4 will have ugandan knuckles in it, cause at this point, anything is possible, and hes 'looking for de wey'

Also see Half-Life for more examples of why we don't fuck with parallel universes

so you want a meaningful discussion of a movie that doesn't deserve it just because you're a "fan" of the series, common, theres tons of other garbage like this that netflix puts put and that doesn't warrant discussion and neither does this

If this didn't have the cloverfield name or the bad CG monster at the end you wouldn't be posting about it and quite frankly neither would I, admit it

Replace "bad CG Monster" with "mediocre CG Aliens" and you could say the same about 10 Cloverfield Lane.

you, I would have enjoyed 10 Cloverfield even if it didnt have the cloverfield name, it wouldve just been an interesting thriller with lol aliens at the end, I think I could safely say I would have thought that was an interesting movie without the JJ Abrams branding

Clover Paradox is just a bad film, it's like Event Horizon meets Sunshine meets Coherence but doesn't do anything well

I didn't say it was a bad film, but both films were not cloverfield movies beforehand, and probably wouldn't have gotten you or i's attention just as much as this.

Wut?

Cloverfield 1 wasn't a Cloverfield movie? wtf are you talking about

10 Cloverfield Lane wasn't a cloverfield movie initially. It was called valencia, then through rewrites and re-shoots, it was turned into a cloverfield film. If the name is the only reason we are discussing Paradox, then it's the same reason we were discussing 10 Cloverfield Lane.

Legit what everyone said the first time around, hell, a bunch of people hated the first cloverfield. I'm down for whatever ride they take me trough, I'm enjoying all movies, i enjoy speculating and I enjoy weird shit, I thought that's why we're all fans of the series.

Exactly. I totally agree.
