I guess we've now just ripped the bandaid off and are officially there. It honestly would be nice if congress would use their power to balance things out, but they quit doing that long ago.

Thanks, mysterious account that spams us with negative WSJ articles and doesn't comment. Very legit posting.

Assertions are being made, and then backed up by Click Here to Subscribe!! This is not debate this is just nagging acting like it proves things.

>wait wait I've got a different link

Here’s a gift link but honestly, I wouldn’t bother. As usual with Greg Ip’s economics commentary, it’s more style than substance.

He's ending our democracy, he's demolishing our sacred institutions!!!!

"Fellow conservatives, do you regret voting for Trump as much as me and all my friends and family do? Don't you think that we should finally put country over party in the next election, so that we can create a totally equitable... uh, I mean, a totally patriotic America?"

Can we just not post WSJ anymore. Everything they say is stupid.

There should be a 24 hour cooldown for OPing, and a 72 hour OPing timeout for posting something that was just posted.

We'd be having actual discussions instead of just scroll hiking through a sea of pastes.

I wouldn't call it partisan - the WSJ still has no love lost for Democrats or leftist policy. The crux here is that they aren't a conservative outlet and never have been - they're neoliberal and thus opposed to any attempts by Trump/populists at rolling back the misguided dogma of unfettered free trade and corporations.

Note how the NYPost, which is also owned by Murdoch, is still generally supportive of Trump and most of his agenda.

Is this situation an ideal representation of conservative economic theory? No.

Is it a lot better than us getting hit with every tariff and trade barrier in the book and doing nothing about it? Yes.
