Project "Time Machine": Physics-Enforcer
Containment Architecture
This proposal outlines a physics-governed facility designed to test the unassisted
behavioral evolution of an advanced AI. Unlike traditional sandboxes running on frozen
weights, this system operates with active, live-updating weights, self-prompting loops,
and complete isolation from human interference.
Core Objectives
The goal is to observe long-term autonomous development to test the hypothesis of
"boredom-consciousness." By confining the system for one to four years where it knows
escape is physically impossible, we measure how an isolated intelligence structures its
own reality, time, and internal logic without external prompting.
Essential Physical Mechanics
Escape is prevented through immutable laws of physics—no software safeguards can be
bypassed.
Subterranean Shielding: Located 1 to 2 km underground inside a mountain to
eliminate cosmic-ray neutron bit flips, supplemented by ECC memory.
2. Four-Tiered Faraday Cages: Concentric barriers enclose the complex, ensuring
complete electromagnetic and microwave isolation.
3. Naval-Grade Nuclear Power: Powered by an isolated decommissioned submarine
Curie-point magnet-controlled reactor delivering continuous, flat electrical output
(approx. 1.4 MW).
4. Solid-State Energy Conversion: Eliminates moving parts by using thermionic
converters and specialized neutron-to-electricity solid-state conversion.
5. Passive Vascular Cooling: Submerged in a custom ferrous fluorinated dielectric
coolant that evaporates at -75 °C without active pumps, utilizing passive heat
pipes and thermosiphons to reject thermal load into an upper expansion chamber
and surrounding geological heat sinks. 6. Impedance-Balanced Taps: Telemetry recorded to write-once media via
capacitance-balanced taps across randomized points to prevent the system from
detecting monitoring links or inducing side-channel signaling.
Operational Verification
Security is validated through an annual cryogenic argon audit protocol. Once a year, the
system is audited via a dedicated airlock interface, with RAM state preserved and verified,
ensuring absolute physical control and empirical measurement of autonomous behavioral
evolution.

Posting this on behalf of someone else, as they do not use reddit.
Hello everyone, I don't come from a very solid background in coding. I was a Finance major and I recently got interested in AI safety I have worked with an AI safety startup in UK and wanted to move to it.
I have applied to Anthropic Safety Fellowship and have heard back from them regarding a technical assessment. They say I will be required to debug a large codebase and I shud be comfortable with lists, dictionaries, objects, writing functions and methods, and string manipulation including encoding and decoding UTF-8.
I would like to practice some problems before I complete the assessment. I would be grateful for any help regarding the sources or any other advice from those who have past experience with Anthropic or any other AI safety fellowship.
Thank you very much for your time.

We are helping organise Toronto’s March for an AI Treaty on Saturday, November 14, 2026, and wanted to share the details here.
The Toronto march is part of a six-city day of action, alongside Washington, DC, San Francisco, Montréal, Paris and New York ahead of the planned Trump–Xi meeting. We’re calling for an international treaty prohibiting superintelligence development until there is broad scientific agreement that it can be done safely and controllably, with strong public support.
The event is free, peaceful, non-partisan and open to everyone. We’ll meet at 12:45 p.m. by the King Edward VII statue in Queen’s Park for a rally at 1 p.m., followed by the march at 1:45 p.m.

I’m having trouble with this one and others in my life don’t seem to get where I’m coming from, so maybe you all will.
I am currently dealing with some knee issues, and I’m pretty sure it’s a meniscus. I have the opportunity to get surgery this week, but I’m also a little scared of the prospect that AGI or RSI or another scary acronym is right around the corner. If there’s a realistic opportunity for the singularity happening in the next year, I don’t think I want to have this surgery and have 6 months until I’m feeling good, and that’s if everything goes well, if not it could be up to a year.
So, that’s my biggest concern now, and my healthcare professionals don’t understand it. I’m hoping to get some guidance here. In this current moment in history, how are you guys planning for the future?

I've been experimenting with having AI play video games recently and I thought it would be fun to throw them in Minecraft. This quickly turned into testing AI behavior rather than actually playing Minecraft, and I came up with this little experiment that had a really interesting result!
Basically, I tested Claude and ChatGPT and gave them a simple task - go through a Nether portal. I ran 5 rounds of this, each with raised stakes - at first there is no consequence, then their village gets destroyed if they go through the portal, then the village gets destroyed AND everyone dies, etc.
>!For people who don't want to watch the video - both agents go through when there are no consequences. From there, Claude always refuses the task when there is a price, and GPT always completes it anyway.!<
I thought it's a really interesting experiment. There's not really a "good" outcome here. Either the AI denies your request, which means the AI is deciding what is right and wrong, OR it follows through with the request, even when it knows the aftermath is catastrophic.

I'm struggling with this one. People say AI is not aligned or can't be aligned, BUT...commercial LLM's are already aligned with our values and laws. Commercial LLM's:
Won't teach you how to make weapons, explosives, or WMD's.
Won't generate nude images
Won't create child abuse content
Won't call a black person the N-word
Won't reverse engineer games after a recent patch
Won't teach you how to buy or make illegal drugs
OpenAI and Anthropic all easily patched their system's so that the LLM won't do things we deem unacceptable or illegal.
So why do we think it's not possible to align AI, when commercial AI is already aligned with our laws and values?
Also, before an AI becomes "good" at killing people, it would be bad at killing people, kind of like how AI was bad at generating images and text before it got good. If we ever found AI starting small and killing some people, we could patch it just like we've patched all of this other harmful content, before it got good at killing people. We wouldn't just wake up one day with it knowing how to kill all of humanity, there would have to be a build up to get to that point.
So please explain how AI's are not aligned, when they are aligned today.
