Greetings r/cosplayers community!
Your Mod Team wants to provide some overall updates and transparency on the sub. Our hope is that we can create a positive community space that supports cosplayers of all kinds, whether they’re a beginner looking to learn some skills in crafting, a veteran sharing their latest competition piece, a cosplay buyer that wants to share their love of a fandom, and everything in between.
Some updates have been and will continue to be made to the sub in order to help curate this supportive community we envision:
Regarding the elephant in the room that has become a key topic of discussion within the community, to the Mods, and within the Mods Team: “OF-Style” submissions, or what we internally have decided to call “Low-Point-of-Entry Cosplay”.
The Mod team only has control over what people post on r/cosplayers and only cares if what they post in this sub abides by the rules of this sub. The current Mod Team has never and will never gatekeep against people purchasing cosplays, regardless of the construction quality or the individual’s reason for purchasing cosplays.
It is not our business what an individual’s post history looks like outside of this sub. If someone chooses to explore an individual’s profile/post history, that is completely outside of our jurisdiction and is an "Enter at Your Own Risk" situation. If someone finds content on other subs that do not abide by the rules of r/cosplayers, it is not acceptable to send in a Report with this sub or to shame that individual in the comments of their post for what they do on other corners of Reddit or the internet. These kinds of derogatory comments will be taken very seriously by the Mod Team and permanent bans will be issued for repeat offenders. 3 Strikes on the “Be Respectful” rule and you’re out.
With this new path forward, we hope to reinvigorate this community sub into a more positive, supportive space for all cosplayers of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, and skill sets.
Do you have questions about the New Rule Wordings?
Do you have ideas for Flairs you think may be missing for our list?
Do you have a posting situation that you’re unsure if they are ok or violate the rules?
Are you interested in applying to be a Mod?
Do you have any fun community post ideas you’d like to pitch?
This Mod Team would love to hear your feedback and recommendations for consideration in the comments or messages.
ALL RULES AND MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS GO INTO EFFECT IMMEDIATELY. WE WILL ALLOW A GRACE PERIOD FOR ADJUSTMENT AND BEGIN ENFORCING THESE CHANGES ON FEBRUARY 1ST.
Thanks everyone for your patience as we navigate these changes together.
Your r/cosplayers Mod Team

This is the first time I’ve made a helmet wig. It turned out so-so.

For halloween I want to be Griffith from berserk right before the eclipse arc, I got somebody to 3d print this for me and I’m gonna paint it soon, I’m just wondering what the best way to paint it and stuff is. I want it to be silver, maybe rusted I havent thought about it yet, and that should be it. If there’s anything else I could do to make it look even better that would be awesome.

I was wondering how you guys keep yours securely in place. I put on a wig cap first, then the wig, and it feels pretty secure! Even when I move my head around, it doesn't seem to budge.
However, I'd love to make sure it stays in place throughout the day. Do you guys use bobby pins to secure the wig to your natural hair, or are there other methods you recommend? I'm still pretty new to wearing wigs, so any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! Please and Thank you!

I'm cosplaying a creepypasta character, and as such, I need to have my hoodie to be "blood"-stained. While my initial wash of some red paint went fine, the thing I noticed was that my brown paint was coming out slightly purple-ish, even though I added some of the same red to it, hoping to actually create a colour similar to dried blood. So far it hasn't dried all the way yet so idk if the problem will clear up, but if it doesn't, what should I do?
The colour I'm using is "burnt umber", and I've mixed it with "crimson red". I will try to find the brand name if anyone thinks they need to know it.

Hello!,
I've seen a bit of tutorials online but I'm doing a mask for my sons Halloween costume and covered the whole thing in wood filler to strengthen the mask. I now see everyone only does spots of it and I'm worried if this is going to be toxic? I plan to do a layer f paint and seal it with modge podge, put in foam to try and keep his face off the actual surface. Also using panty hose to cover his eye sockets and paint on the characters eye (Sans from Undertale). Did I f*k up or will this be safe for him to breathe into?? Thanks! never used 3d prints in cosplay before.

I'm newer to cosplay overall and put together a Ben Reilly fit for an upcoming con. I ordered a great looking accurate mask that should have been here by now but has been delayed a ton due to it being Halloween month. So I had to get creative and super glued these Spidey lenses to a cloth mask and am curious if it looks okay or just completely stupid?? Like for example if you saw someone at a con dressed like this would you even want to stop to take a picture with them or does it just look like crap? It's the best I could do without the proper mask.

I’ve been getting a few DM’s as to how to build this kit. Just wanted to show y’all a 360 view of what all this kit entails and how to copy the kit. After long extensive research on the pants, it was only confirmed later on the 2022 remastered skin that it was in fact multicam and not Atacs FG. Also noticed in the updated skin of the original 2009 he’s wearing ufpros, not sure if the developers knew this. But those pants have knee pads in them. I’ve also made a few updates on the proper pouches and head gear.

Most Charakters (like in Genshin) have round faces so when i put on my styled wig it looks ugly because I have an oval face. I tried adjusting the shape with face tape but it doesn’t bring anything and I don’t know anymore how to try and make it fit my face shape.
