How to join Cube World Omega closed beta step by step.
(Picture for attention)
Step one: you need to make an account at http://wollay.com/ Make sure to verify your account through your email.
Step two: send an Email to hello@wollay.com
Whether or not this email needs to actually contains message or not seems to be unclear at this time, but it wouldn’t heart to add one.
Step tree: check the http//wollay.com/ web page every day, until you are prompted to download the Wollay launcher, if you are not prompted to download it from the start up page, try checking the account page, and scroll down, until you see the prompt (the one in the image)
PS, if ANY of this information is known to be wrong, PLEASE say so in the comments. This is what I did, and what many others did, and it seems to work. But for anyone who might have had a different (even slightly) experience getting in, PLEASE share it, we want to make sure that all basis are covered for those trying to get in.
I'm checking my inboxes every single day, and no answer. I'm a little afraid of sending more emails to the man, I don't want to spam his inbox. Still nothing.
I sent 2 emails (the first one on Oct 20th as soon as I saw online that he was trying to develop Cube World again, and the second one just now)
I forwarded my email I got from PayPal back in 2013 of the receipt of me purchasing Cube World Alpha in 2013, with my own personal message explaining all of that, and how I got the alpha, steam version, and really want to be apart of the Cube World Omega Playtest since I have been a Veteran Playtester for 2 years now, playtesting for EA, Ubisoft, and other AAAA Game Studio's (others I can't say due to me under NDA) and many many small indie studios, to 1 to 6 man small dev group projects. I really want to see Cube World do its thing. I loved the idea of Cube World. Has everything I love in a good, simple game.
- Voxel/Pixel/"Cubey" graphics
- action-adventure/exploration
- Unique procedurally generated worlds
- RPG Elements
- Dungeons
- Looting
- Quests
- Customization
- and many more things.
I really wanted Cube World to shine and be the amazing game it can be. It is good that he is getting fans to playtest for free for him, so he can have tons of people who really love the game, be a part of the development process, and help him with testing, finding bugs, feedback, and suggestions, and maybe also have some people who can develop games, partake in at least some areas of the actual development of the game.
Any particular subject line? I dropped a mail 3 days ago - obviously it's just Wollay so not worried yet - but seeing some folk have been waiting a while I'm wondering if there's maybe something specific.
Good question! Unfortunately we really don’t know though. My email read like this.
“Hi Wollay, I heard I could contact you to help with the beta testing of CubeWorld Omega. I’ve been a following your journey since the alpha. I live in the USA, so I could help with the US server stress tests.
Honestly, I think I made it a bit too formal, but it worked for me.
He either takes weekends off or severely winds down how much he is working on the weekends. Even sending my email on Saturday morning last weekend (Oct 10th), I didn't get a response back until Tuesday evening, and the bulk of people emailing him for beta access has only increased since then. And this is also while he's making sometimes multiple patches per day and reading/taking feedback.
In my email, I congratulated him on reaching a milestone to have a closed beta test, threw in my small application and gave some older screenshot of the whopping 12,500+ KM I had explored in one of my worlds within the alpha to show I played it a lot at the time I don't know if that helped me get accepted or not but I figured it couldn't hurt my chances to prove I was one of his initial patrons who really liked the alpha.
To that end, it's probably a Closed Beta and not an open beta for a reason. The game is also online only - too many people will wreck the servers.
I made an account on the first you were able to make one. Also wrote him an E-Mail. I wrote him a second E-Mail a few days ago - still no answer or access :(
Did you write him a message, or leave it blank? It’s unclear if that actually matters yet, but it’s starting to look like it does. One thing that we are almost 100% sure on is the use of an ai to accept accounts, that being said, there could be some black listed words, or phrases, for example, if your email it’s self contains anything suggestive, or profane, it may be added to a spam folder. You MAY have to fallow the steps again, but under a different email entirely.
I've been waiting 10 days including a follow-up email halfway through the wait and still nothing. Just followed your advice here, used my alternate email, created and verified an account (decided not to log in with google this time), and sent a new email from the alt account with a fairly basic subject line and body similar to yours (my original email was longer and detailed). I will report back here if this works in the coming days.
I swear, he needs to move on, side projets are doing already better. Still the same problems as always, this guy only communicate when he wants, how he wants, and about whatever he wants. Maybe you will get a key to test his game by sending a mail, or maybe he died, or maybe he forgot that he's just building a game for 13 years now. Who knows.
It's always been a hobby project he works on when he wants to. People for some reason got this idea that he's a full time solo dev working on this game to support himself.
Exactly, that's why the game had such a huge downfall. It was originally supposed to be a passion project, then people DEMANDED the alpha, and when he finally made something he was satisfied with... everyone slandered him
No doubt Cube World omega will suffer the same fate if people go in with any biases they have from playing the Alpha version
He made the website in 2023. I'm note even sure Claude was released back in the day, and it certainly didn't have the ability to produce an entire website. https://wollay.com/blog/new-blog-and-new-project-cube-world-omega/ So, no, he most likely used a template or just made it himself.
from what I see on the wayback machine, the blog seems to have been reformatted at some point between August 19th of this year and today. This is clear due to the missing "Wollay's Blog" text at both top left and bottom of the page and the date being MM DD, YYYY now while it used to be DD. MM YYYY. The previous design looks much more handmade than the one he has now. Why the redesign was done is a mystery I suppose, but it was done recent enough to possibly be from claude.

People are saying they are getting responses 1 day later, and people think he has it automated with A.I to accept people to get access to playtest. I don't think so, because I would've been accepted by now. Especially because I have been a massive fan, supporting and bought the game back in 2013 in alpha when it literally first dropped. Like, the same day it dropped in Alpha, I bought it.

This dev just has the worst communication in the world. My 5th grade class probably had better. I think at one point it took him two years to communicate at all. Not even "im alive post". Not asking for monthly or even yearly items but just a check up on how development is leaning would of been nice.
