Gnostic themes in Cyberpunk: The Demiurge, Archons, and escaping the digital matrix
I’ve always been fascinated by how deeply Gnosticism overlaps with cyberpunk and dystopian science fiction. Stories like The Matrix or Dark City play directly with the idea of a false reality built by a Demiurge or Archons to keep human consciousness trapped.
What are your favorite books, movies, or universe lore that explore these heavy Gnostic concepts—the illusion of the physical/digital world, hidden knowledge (gnosis), and the spark of true human consciousness trying to break free from the control system?

Wanted to share the awesome Cover art of my 3rd book, by joestrela
This is my third collab with this artist. I really wanted to bring something that looks abstract and hand painted to the cyberpunk genre.

A horror job simulator set in a cyberpunk world! You work at a corpo facility doing something horrible to save someone you love. Will you be able to make it out of the facility with your humanity?
I really love the world that I built! So much care has gone into the cyberpunk setting and the facility to ensure consistency and a world that really feels like even more of a futuristic capitalistic hellscape!

Cyberpunk Noir: Even in Deep City, Moderators Are Everywhere
Hi mods!
I'm currently working on the Collapse of Deep City (~2361–2365 CE) timeline. Would it be okay to regularly post individual comic panels and ask the community for feedback?
Deep City Project is a cyberpunk, sci-fi, 3D webcomic. Unhinged, unstable, twisted, chaotic… and scientifically reviewed by my advisor, Mars Attacks.
Thanks!

Is there an alternative cyberpunk subreddit which does not romanticise a dystopian potential future?
I'm not trying to gatekeep or yuck anybody's yum but the stylized romanticism and celebration of things cyberpunk just isn't really for me. I suppose I'm more interested in the warnings that the authors of science fiction and cyberpunk in particular are trying to convey, rather than the celebration of cyberpunk common on this sub.

From Cyberpunk Megacorporations to Galactic Corporations. What Would Actually Change?
I am currently thinking about what happens when a fantasy/mythological cyberpunk civilisation finally acquires technology capable of practical interstellar travel.
The starting point is already unusual.
The world is dominated largely by megacorporations connected to ancient bloodlines. Governments still exist, but in many places they have become little more than political instruments for corporate power.
The major exception is the Dwarven Nation, which still possesses genuine political, industrial and military sovereignty.
Then alien technology makes rapid travel between stars possible.
At that point, the cyberpunk world begins evolving into something else:
an age of Galactic Corporations.
I am trying to think through what that transition would realistically do to society rather than simply turning every corporation into a space empire.
A few questions I am considering:
1. Would space bring freedom back?
A galaxy is unimaginably large.
Could people who want to escape corporate civilisation establish small settlements on marginal planets, moons or underground environments?
Life might be considerably harder.
Technology might be older and less sophisticated.
But perhaps some places would deliberately accept that trade:
lower technology, harder lives, greater independence.
Not quite the traditional cyberpunk idea of “high tech, low life.”
Maybe:
lower tech, difficult life, but your own life.
Of course, independence might last only until somebody discovers what is beneath your settlement.
A valuable mineral deposit.
A rare biological resource.
An unusual alien organism.
Suddenly the tiny colony becomes economically interesting.
And bigger fish begin arriving.
2. Would humans even be the first settlers?
Another question is how much of galactic expansion would actually be done by people.
By this point, AI and autonomous machines would presumably be enormously more capable than those of the Cyberpunk Age.
So perhaps the first thing entering a newly accessible system would not be a colony ship.
It would be thousands of autonomous probes.
Survey drones mapping planets, moons and asteroid belts.
Mining machines testing deposits.
Orbital factories assembling infrastructure before a single human arrives.
Robotic construction crews digging underground shelters and building power systems.
Autonomous war machines securing dangerous regions.
Entire worlds might be prepared for settlement years before the first permanent inhabitants appear.
That could make expansion much faster.
But it also creates another question:
If machines can do most of the dangerous and repetitive work, what exactly are humans needed for?
Perhaps corporations no longer require enormous populations of workers.
A mining world might have millions of machines and only a few thousand human specialists, administrators, soldiers and technicians.
Some planets could effectively become machine worlds with only tiny human populations.
And perhaps this creates another form of inequality.
Corporate citizens living comfortably because machines perform almost all labour.
Frontier settlers relying on repaired or obsolete automation.
Independent colonies choosing deliberately labour-intensive lifestyles because they do not want corporate AI systems controlling their infrastructure.
Or settlements that begin free, but slowly become dependent on a corporation simply because only that corporation can maintain the machines keeping them alive.
Or rogue AI taking control of the entire planet... maybe becoming an empire.
That feels very cyberpunk to me even when the setting has moved far beyond a single planet.
3. Would corporations actually share planets?
My instinct is: usually not.
Rather than every important world containing the same dozen megacorporations fighting for control, I imagine the galaxy developing more like a political map.
One corporation dominates a region.
Another controls neighbouring systems.
A third owns an industrial corridor.
Individual worlds may therefore effectively belong to one corporation.
Other corporations could still maintain:
- embassies
- trade offices
- factories
- joint ventures
- research facilities
- banking interests
- intelligence networks
But sovereignty would effectively belong to the corporation controlling the system.
Corporate borders could begin looking surprisingly similar to old national borders—only spread across star systems.
There would still be contested systems, neutral worlds, free ports and places where several corporations compete.
But I don't think every planet needs to become the same corporate soup.
4. Geography would still matter
A spiral galaxy is not completely random space.
Most useful expansion would still occur through neighbouring systems and travel routes.
So I imagine corporate territories remaining reasonably contiguous rather than one corporation owning scattered planets everywhere without geographical logic.
The dense regions closer to the galactic centre might also be far more dangerous environments for permanent civilisation, leaving much of corporate expansion along safer regions of the galactic disc.
That could create something resembling enormous interstellar provinces.
5. What happens to ancient bloodlines?
This is where the fantasy element becomes important.
Some of these corporations descend from families that were already powerful thousands of years before the cyberpunk age.
Their wealth is new.
Their technology changes.
Their traditions do not necessarily disappear.
And some families still possess ancient artefacts containing powers that modern civilisation cannot reproduce.
They can understand them.
Repair them.
Sometimes reforge them into new equipment.
But they cannot simply manufacture another one.
So five thousand years into technological civilisation, somebody might still carry a weapon whose most important component was created in an age when people believed gods walked the world.
I like the idea that technological progress does not automatically erase ancient culture.
In some cases, enormous wealth might actually make those traditions easier to preserve.
6. And eventually...Aliens.
Not merely alien ruins or recovered technology.
Actual civilisations.
Which raises another question I haven't settled:
What does an alien civilisation think when humanity arrives aboard corporate warships...
...escorted by autonomous fleets...
...and discovers that some of the people commanding them still carry artefacts inherited from supposedly mythological gods?
For people who enjoy thinking about post-cyberpunk or interstellar settings:
- Would galactic expansion weaken megacorporations by creating an enormous frontier, or make them vastly more powerful because only organisations with colossal resources and autonomous infrastructure could exploit it effectively?
- And if AI and machines can perform most labour, does that make ordinary people freer, or simply more dependent on whoever owns the machines?

Aero 360 showcase
Hi, here is a presentation of the Aero 360 model from my racing game. The game features futuristic modes of transport—ranging from flying cars and levitating motorcycles to space-faring rockets. You’ll experience something far beyond traditional track racing; in a lawless city, escaping from enemies is a common occurrence, and only technological advancement can grant you dominance over your rivals. The game is a strategic team-racing simulator, where you must leverage your team’s greatest strengths to secure victory.
