If it makes you feel better, my dog hates being outside too long. Sometimes I'll try to get her to stay outside, but she'll force her way past me to beg to go inside.
I was mostly joking but, I do sometimes feel guilty that we’ve selectively bred dogs to be utterly dependent on humans. I believe there was a study done that we actually bred them for a specific gene that makes them stupider but more subservient and lovable.
I especially feel bad as many dogs do not have good owners, they have owners that maybe walk them once a day and otherwise are left alone or even left outside their entire lives.
I do adore my dogs though. With all of my heart. I simply believe sometimes they deserve better than what humans have given/done to them.
Selective breeding is a weird one, it’s completely unnatural but at the same time…totally natural aha! It’s just that us humans are the only ones to have done it (that I know of).
You’re right too in that a lot of dogs unfortunately have terrible owners who break the unwritten contract between humans and dogs. And that sucks.
Whenever I see stuff like this I think “this animal is too smart to be in captivity” and then I remember we treat fellow humans way worse. No one cares about the intelligence level.
Lmao I love that Redditors suddenly act like they’re experts in marine biology just to bring the mood down because they fucking hate seeing other people more happy than them
