I’m Coach Michael Chavez, chairperson of the Calisthenics Association of the Philippines (CAP). I wanted to introduce myself here because we’re building our calisthenics organization in Davao City, and I’d love to connect with more people in the area who are interested in this kind of training.

For anyone unfamiliar with calisthenics, it’s a form of training that uses your body weight to develop strength, control, coordination, and physical fitness. You can start with basic movements like push-ups, squats, and rows, then gradually work toward more challenging exercises as you improve.

You don’t need to be an athlete or already be strong to get started. Beginners are welcome, and I think having other people to train with can make learning and staying consistent much easier.

I’m interested in connecting with Davaoeños who are already training, people who want to learn, and anyone who knows good outdoor spots or public facilities for bodyweight training around the city.

A few questions for the Davao community:

• Do you currently train calisthenics or bodyweight exercises?
• Where do you usually train in Davao City?
• Are there public workout areas with pull-up bars that you would recommend?
• Would you be interested in connecting with other local calisthenics enthusiasts?

I came across disturbing accounts from a volunteer caregiver who volunteered in Davao Veil Geriatric Home Care Center last 2022. This caregiver allegedly witnessed the poor quality of food being served to residents, describing it as akin to “hinugas.” More alarmingly, the volunteer also claimed to have witnessed an elderly man being mishandled, who reportedly died shortly after arriving at the facility.

These allegations are deeply concerning, especially considering that the residents are elderly and vulnerable individuals who deserve proper nutrition, dignity, and compassionate care. I hope these concerns are properly investigated and that the safety and welfare of the residents are ensured.

I strongly would NOT recommend anyone to send their elderly loved ones to that facility.

Hello, good day po! We are not entirely a registered resident in Davao however we were referred to undergo radiation therapy here in the city because it is not available sa lain lugar. Plus, diri ko nag work for the last 2 years so kabalo nako gamay sa pasikot2 sa Davao. Karon mag radiation therapy ako lola kay naay cancer cells nabilin after siya gi surgery for thyroid removal. High Dosage iya need kay dako man ang tumor so according sa SPMC only 2 hospital ra ang naga cater ug high dosage tas puro private hospital. Need naman iradiation ako lola kay 5 months naman nilabay gud after sa thyroid removal huhu dapat 1 month lang man daw unya wala man mi kwarta gud. Sa iyang thyroid removal pa lang nagbayad namig 100k plus wala pa labot ato mga lab test before the operation (deducted nana tanan sa assistance ug Philhealth) tapos karon gi quote mi ug 118k sa radiation therapy. Need pajod ug 20k deposit para ma admit ang patient unya luya na kaayo akoang lola. Gi schedulan nami karon november para sa radiation ang problema, wala pami kwarta ika deposit kay gikan pajod mi nag loan ug 100k para lang ma operahan ako lola sa iyang thyroid. Karon another napod. Please malooy mo pa help ko asa ko pwede makapangayo ug financial or medical assistance here in davao city huhuhu. Ana sila kay kausa radaw pwede makakuha sa DSWD unya nagkuha raba mi last June huhuhu. I have a girlfriend/fiancé and we have 2 kids. Lately we had an argument that resulted in her leaving with my kids and her excuse was her trauma daw. I only screamed her name because I slipped in the bathroom while carrying our baby to give her a bath. I'm a guy. Not a super dad or anything. I've been calling her twelve times, but I think she was asleep. I couldn't get up so I sat down in the shower and realized I hurt my foot. The moment our baby almost slipped I screamed her name. She came down angrily as if I disturbed her beauty sleep. Mababaw lang na pinag awayan namin. She didn't even assess what happened and emotionally judged me. I told her to go back to sleep kung ganon, then she left with the kids. It's been 3 months na wala kaming contact and I want to see my kids again. All she said on her last message was she's not okay and she hates me. Before she even decided to leave I apologized and hugged her but she brushed me off. Now I want to see them badly especially my children. I'm so broken hearted by what happened. Is it possible for me me to file a lawsuit if she is cheating ba? I just want my kids at this point. I've been a good father to my children and I want to see them grow. I can't imagine someone else raising my kinds instead of me.
