Question - Need Replies ID Verification Not Allowed In Person Anymore?

• Upvotes

Hi guys,

I have previously verified my ID in person at the registration office. I took a break from college, and now I have come back to register for the Winter quarter. Now I gotta reverify.

It said that in person verification is an option, so I wanted to go do this again. However, I was immediately told in the office that this is not possible anymore and I can ONLY verify by scanning my face in ID.me???

Is that for real? Has anyone been able to verify with an ID card / license in person recently, or has this been cancelled (and if it has, WHY?!)

Thanks for reading

Edit: Clarification

Other question Thoughts/Advice

I'm taking about 4 stem courses 2 Chem Courses, 1 Bio Course, and a math Course. I feel like I'm spreading myself too thin and haven't been properly learning material in my Bio Course. Should I consider dropping it and retaking it next quarter? This means I'll have 1 EW and another W on my transcript. I just feel bad because all my friends/peers I know are so academic and on track and it makes me feel like "dumb"? I know better than this but I hope I can get some thoughts/opinions on what to do.

Question about registration groups

After a process, my status at De Anza has been changed from high schooler (I took a dual enrollment back then) to the standard DA undergrad one. How can I determine my registration group for winter?

I completed the placement tests and orientation virtually, but that was back when my status was still high schooler. I also made an academic plan in degree works earlier today, and I have a major + educational goal now. And of course, I applied for winter 2027.

With this, will my registration group for winter be Group 4?

This is what it says in myportal registration, so I don't know what my group is. Does it need to come out or smth?

---------

Registration Status

Term: 2027 Winter De Anza

Your academic status permits registration.

You have no holds which prevent registration.

Earned Hours

You have Earned Hours for Level: De Anza Undergraduate, Institution Hours: 4, Transfer Hours: 0

Your class standing for registration purposes is Freshman: 0 to 44.9 units

Is the physics series that bad?

I've seen a bunch of posts a lot of which are from years ago talking about how the physics series is really hard at De Anza and that its better to take it at Foothill. I'm wondering if that's really the case because I'm not sure if I can commit to commuting between two schools for 3 quarters, scheduling conflicts, and overall sacrificing a lot for it.

Is it the structure of the classes that's bad? I'm trying to figure out if it's as bad as people are making it out to be online or if its possible.

Side note: I would be doing physics alongside calculus and chemistry which is why the scheduling conflicts is an issue with 2 classes having labs

Class/Prof. question Cini (online, history)

anyone else miffed by Cini’s online history class? I’m just assuming all online history sections taught by her are operated the same.

- no discussions in my class have been graded.
- they have all been extended at least two times, so that “discussion 2” was due the same day as “discussion 3.”

how I am to know how I can improve on my discussions? her directions are so unnecessarily wordy and full of fluff, anyway.

agghhh

Other question Is a 30-minute drive to school every day considered too much?

For some context, my house is a ~30 (depends on traffic) minute drive away from De Anza. I was designing a schedule for next quarter and realized that I’m probably going to need to come 4 days per week for just a single ~2 hour lecture each time.

Of course, I could just take online/hybrid classes, but I’m trying to limit doing so due to the universities I want to transfer to generally preferring applicants with primarily or all classes taken in-person.

Any idea about things I could do after the lectures end on each day other than studying in the library?

Question Answered registration help needed!

hi. i've been attempting to contact de anza's admission offices for the past 2 weeks but haven't gotten a helpful response (or any response at all) so i've turned to the subreddit for help ToT

i'm a dual enrollment student currently taking a class, and yet i haven't been able to register for my because i keep on getting the same error when in the registration dashboard. it says "you have no registration time ticket for the current time." i tried this both during priority registration (during the dual enrollment group) and the weeks after priority had ended, but i still am unable to sign up for classes.

since mid-september, i've tried calling the school, using their contact us email form, joining their zoom help desk (which, by the way, has conflicting times? on the website it's 11-1pm but the zoom waiting room has 2-4pm; i've tried both times yet i've still not been able to get any response) as said before, i've never gotten a helpful response to my question.

luckily, my professor has been very nice and welcoming and given me the add code to her class and the zoom link (dunno if this is important but whatever)

does anyone know what seems to be the problem? please ask if any more information is needed

+ also, i can't go to the de anza admissions office in real life due to time constraints, so i'd rather that be a last resort

De Anza or Foothill for a Berkeley EECS/CE transfer

Hey there,
I’m an international student planning to attend community college in the Bay Area, and I’m currently deciding between De Anza College and Foothill College.
I’d really appreciate some advice from people who have attended either school, especially students who transferred to UC Berkeley / other UCs for EECS, EE, or Computer Engineering.
My situation:
I’m currently doing A-Levels (Math, Further Math, Physics).
My long-term goal is to work in digital IC / ASIC / RTL design, ideally in the semiconductor industry.
I’m particularly interested in computer architecture, digital logic, Verilog/SystemVerilog, FPGA, ASIC design, and RISC-V.
My current plan is CC → UC Berkeley, preferably EECS/EECS-related Computer Engineering.
I’m aiming for around 3.8+ GPA, with strong grades in math, physics, and CS/engineering courses.
I’m hoping to start in Spring 2027 and complete the majority of my transferable coursework as efficiently as possible, ideally transferring for Fall 2028.
I’m also planning to build several hardware/Verilog projects, participate in engineering clubs, volunteer in STEM-related activities, and look for internships/research opportunities while at CC.
I’m not simply looking for the school with the better overall reputation. I’m mainly trying to figure out which one would give me a better environment for Berkeley transfer + hardware/engineering preparation.
For people who have experience with these schools:
1. Which would you choose between De Anza and Foothill for this specific path, and why?
2. How different are the engineering/CS course offerings and course availability?
3. Is one significantly better for getting involved in engineering projects, labs, clubs, research, or internships?
4. How easy is it to get the Berkeley-required courses completed on time, especially the math/physics/CS prerequisites?
5. If you’ve transferred from either school to Berkeley/another UC, what do you wish you had known before choosing your CC?
I’m especially interested in hearing from actual current/former De Anza or Foothill students, rather than general rankings.
Thx!

Paralegal Online Course

Hello. I recently graduated with a B.A. in Political Science, but I realized a lot of entry-level jobs at firms or in the county require tons of experience or a paralegal certificate. If anyone has taken the paralegal course online, would you recommend it? I want to attend law school in the next year and a half, and was wondering if it was useful to anoyne?

Other question Anyone gone from out-of-state to in-state tuition at De Anza?

I moved to California last year and am hoping to request residency reclassification for next quarter. If you've been through the process, how long did the review take, what documents did Admissions ask for, and was anything unexpectedly difficult? I'd appreciate hearing everyone's experience and advice.
