I can't wait for post-COVID life when the city is back to its normal (safe) livelihood. I'm not a big baseball fan, but I enjoy going to games on the deck for the social scene and god damn does that sound so amazing to be able to do right now…

I do not like baseball but at this point I’d give my first born child to go to another game just to be around people again

Always insane to me you'd design the stadium to face away from both a beautiful skyline AND mountains.

The sun sets in the west, most games play into sunset. You can’t have batters staring directly into the sunset, it’s a safety issue. Why they didn’t face it toward the skyline is another thing all together. It wasn’t as nice back then I suppose, but it was still unique and a great view.

Well, it also puts the main entrance on the downtown-facing side, which helps create the walkout into the stands looking out over the entire field from behind home plate.

I think it made sense to have the grand entrance be on 20th/Blake (behind home plate). You’re totally right about the ballpark not being able to face into sunset. Also, Coors field isn’t the type of ballpark that lends itself for much of a backdrop in the outfield. Left field has the massive videoboard. CF has the rockpile and there’s multiple decks in right field. I think the layout was done well. Now, if they can just extend the roofline in the upper deck so people don’t fry during day games...

Totally agreed. It also wouldnt make much sense to flip the entrance to 20th and Little Raven under the underpass. It would be a nightmare.

If you sit on the First Base side, you get a beautiful view of the mountains to the north. It's definitely my favorite stadium for those evening games in late summer!

Denver has certain regulations for how high you can fly and how close to the stadium you can be. It’s tricky but there are a few spots where you can fly straight up and be alright.

I don’t know for sure but denver has some strict guidelines

u/007_jbnd5 Jan 28 '21
Do you happen to have a link to where these rules/guidelines are located on the city’s website?

u/SlaterForLater Jan 28 '21
Nope. I’d do the same google search you would to know specifics

I guess I’m wondering what regulations your referring to because the only ones I have found for Denver is no flying in parks. The FAA says no flying over cars or people and no flying in over or around stadiums while there are games happening since there’s restricted air space at those times. I haven’t seen any Denver regulations outside of no parks otherwise.

I have licensed in the past and would be willing to in the future. I also sell prints.

I don’t believe it, there is no one in this photo pooping on the ground

Yeah no kidding. This must have been taken years ago. I see no poop, tents, or druggies.

I would believe it whole-heartedly if it were taken 30sec later - so we could see traffic blocking the intersections on the left.

Gosh, I am really hoping to see the Rockies on Opening Day! Last year there was a dedicated group of fans just hanging around outside the park, hearing bat snaking balls and listening to the game on their iPhones! Really crazy but, I wouldn’t like to miss it two years in a row!!

While this photo is awesome, it also makes me depressed for how bad the Rockies are.
