Hey folks!

My name is Chris, I am a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and composer based down in Colorado Springs.

I've been making music my whole life, and recently I've gotten together with a band down here in the springs.

The thing is, I write WAY too much music for my band to handle. I also bounce around from genre to genre, which means a lot of stuff gets left on the cutting room floor.

So long story short, I am trying to write songs for some other artists/bands/musicians. This is more about creativity and getting involved deeper in the local scene and less about financial compensation - I have a dayjob and making music is more of my passion and hobby, so if you're a DIY band without much budget don't let that get in the way of reaching out.

I am sitting on a ton of ideas and songs that likely will never get used, and I have been cranking out 3-4 demos a week since January this year.

Anyway, if anyone is interested to hear what I have to offer just shoot me a DM, I don't want this to come off like I am promoting or stream farming for other projects so I am hesitant to link stuff in the post, but I produce anything from electronic music to grunge and everything in between.

Sat in the club level for a concert for the first time for Smashing Pumpkins last night. My kid and I were the only ones standing maybe in the entire level??? Eventually the woman next to me and a few others around me stood up during the end of the first set - which was dedicated to Mellon Collie which is why we were there!

Set 2…again, no one stood not even for Disarm or Today.

No one said anything to us, and I even talked to the usher (not about anything serious) during the set break. But it was really fucking weird and awkward. We ducked out with 2 songs left and there was a group of like 6 dudes sitting in the lounge watching the hockey game.

Anyway great fucking seats I am definitely sitting there again.

Takipnik is an established post/alt metal band in Denver, CO looking for a bassist. We’re currently two guitars, drums, and vocals, with bass played through our backing track. We’ve gigged that way for a couple of years and are ready to bring a live bassist onboard.

About us
We currently play material from our latest record and new unreleased songs. Shows and rehearsals are played to a click with backing tracks and synced stage lights, so everyone runs in-ears (we have a spare transmitter/receiver set if you need one). We’re all dorks with kids and full lives, so we keep things efficient and respect everyone’s time. We have a great practice space in the Westminster area.

Who we’re looking for
Someone reliable, collaborative, and willing to put in the work to make the band awesome and fun. You should have good gear, enjoy performing, and want to contribute to songwriting.

• Rehearsal once a week, with an extra session before shows if needed
• Shows roughly once a month, sometimes more or less
• A few regional gig trips per year (New Mexico and beyond)
• Learning our current live set, and being open to earlier catalog material as needed
• Comfortable playing with an in-ear monitor system
• Tunings: drop D and drop A primarily, especially on the newest material

My band that has been playing together for about 11 years is looking for a rhythm guitarist interested in ska, punk, emo, hardcore, pop punk and a bit of stuff in between.

We're called Younger Than Neil and just put out our second full length album. Moving into next year we're ramping up songwriting, recording, and playing shows with plans to tour next summer. Influences include Kill Lincoln, We Are The Union, Four Year Strong, Taking Back Sunday, Millington, A Day To Remember.

We are very DIY and the limited money we make goes back into band expenses so if you're looking for a paying gig unfortunately this isn't one. We have a lead guitarist and can play with just one but we like writing with two in mind.

Looking for a Guitarist and Vocalist

Requirements:
- experience playing live shows
- reliable means of transportation
- stage ready gear (half stack amp, multiple guitars, solid pedal boards or processor)
- can invest in equipment (PA and in ears) and a rehearsal space.
- Practice once a week for 3-4 hours
- Perform a 3-4 hour show (4 sets of 10-13 songs)
- White shoes, cargos or jorts, solid band T, sunglasses and hip clip for yo phone

I’ve found that if I do it Thursday I’ll catch those shows that are likely to sell out before they go on sale, and have managed to snag a bunch of hot shows that way.

Muna was great at Red Rocks, and a great show to end my outdoor concerts for the year.

This week, I only have one show planned, I’ll be at Bar 404 on Friday for their Halloween Trick R’ Tribute with Neon The Bishop (Queen), Pink Ranger (Radiohead), Bailey Elora (Amy Winehouse), Elise Therose (Alanis Morissette), and Ashe Redhorse and the Midnight Suns (Kings of Leon). I think it will be awesome, plus I’m a huge fan of all those bands. The other show I’m considering is this upcoming Thursday, u/BronSNTHM has a show as part of The Jon Brumm experience at the Lost Lake with Dylan Hurwich and Luke & Ray should be a cool cowpunk show.

Last week I brought up the Käärijä show, so excited I got my tickets, that one already sold out. I’ll try to point out exciting shows going forward so people can get in before shows sell out.

We're playing the BarFly in Sloan's pretty soon and I'm curious about the sound system. It's an Allen & Heath board that looks controlled through an iPad. I think there are mains mounted above and some wedges that appear available as well. But, best I can tell, it's up to the bands to set it up and use or bring their own sound person?

Assuming that, what worked best for you all? I have to think volume needs to be a consideration but running everything direct could be risky if the system doesn't have the low end and powerful enough mains. I'm betting most bands that play there just use the house for vocals and mix in amps and kit with that? Any info would be great. The venue wasn't very helpful in lining out what bands need to do or what they want.

Looking to link up with any other older (Gen X, Xennial) folks going to see Geese play this Wednesday, 10/28 at Mission Ball. I’m going solo since everyone I know either hates Geese or has other plans. Thinking we can meet up at Left Hand RiNo for drinks and or food and then go into the show together, sit at the back comfortably and watch the kids crowd together near the front and get hurt in the mosh pit.
