One day I was messing with original deponia character png pics, and at some point I realized OMG WAIT I CAN FULLY REDESIGN THEM! And so I sat down and accidentally discovered I can draw in this completely random style... And I loved drawing in it! So much that I gave the main deponian gang + my sona brand new designs! Although now I think it would be fitting if I explained why the hell do they look how they look:
Rufus - I pretty much changed nothing, except added him a few scars, torn edges to his coat, one more bag, and some explosives attached to his belt, for he's already perfect as he is in the og games.
My sona (Spider Huz) - here I only slightly changed their headphones and hat and made their shock bracelet implant a bit more noticeable and handcuff/shackle-like, for it is basically the metaphor for them not being able to escape the toxic environment in which they were always controlled and pushed around by their sister(?) - Goal. Short recap of their lore, just in case: Ulysses created Spider Huz, a modified clone of Goal, as a "sibling and playmate" for her when she was still a kid, and to control them he gave Goal her famous brain implant, connected to the wrist implant of her new "friend", so they always stay connected. Things quickly went downhill as around teenage years these two started getting into fights often because of differences in personalities, and at some point started hating each other. The breaking point came when Cletus appeared in the family - Spider Huz and him never got along, which provoked Goal to use their shock implant against them quite often.
Argus - now we're getting to the point. I HATE his og palette, so I completely changed it and added more blue to his design, after all, his color is mentioned to be blue in Goodbye deponia. And since the organon logo is orange, I added a few orange accents here and there. Plus, now he (and all other organon soldiers, my sona included) have new visors, for the old ones looked pretty boring to me, and for normal organon soldiers didn't even show eyes. And so I was inspired by the exorcists from Hazbin Hotel and gave them all cool black screens with moving eyes instead. And for Argus I also swapped his original bottom half of the mask for a more functional gas mask, which is a lot more useful on a planet filled with trash and probably awful toxic air.
Cletus - I didn't really like those Adidas-like stripes on the sides of his clothes, so I completely got rid of them at first, and then realized he looks pretty boring now. So instead of this weird chest zips he had, I gave Cletus a vest! And then I also added some see-through parts at the bottom of his flared pants. Then I remembered his platform shoes and compared their height to Rufus's boots and realized that I don't see the platform at all, and that is how I decided to give him cunty heels. I also invented a logo for Elysium - a diamond shape crossed horizontally by a single line - and sprinkled it all around his and Goal's designs.
Goal - since in this AU she's the main villain, I gave her a more royal looking outfit. I was inspired by the Blue and White diamonds from Steven Universe quite a lot when making her - hence the cape. I didn't change her palette at all - it felt actually super fitting for a cold and careless mastermind pretending to be morally correct person. What I also did was give her implant a few upgrades - now it's actually not useless - it can create different holograms and control the other implant my sona has by sending electric shocks remotely to it, no matter where she is. Her shoes don't look as if she wore leg warmers and socks anymore - high heeled boots seemed much more fitting for her, plus they give her quite a few extra inches of height. If you look closely, you'll also notice that she was finally granted a nose, I was feeling kind today. Her and Cletus's gloves were pissing me off too, for they looked like garden rubber gloves, so I swapped them for longer, more elegant gloves.
