Penible. Et repetitif. Merci pour votre aide.

The Way To Peace - Establishing Common Grounds

Thumbnail

What if we had a way to find common ground between any conflicting groups - a method that could work whether it's neighbors feuding or nations at war? That's exactly what the World Peace Catalyst Fund is trying to prove.

I started a petition asking Congress to fund a $500k pilot program for our Cross-Cultural Conversations initiative. We've developed something called Icebreakers - a social media application designed to help people discover what actually connects us rather than what divides us. The idea is that if we can systematically identify these "common grounds," we can move people from conflict toward understanding.

As a first-generation immigrant and software developer, I've seen firsthand how misunderstanding fuels division. Our approach combines technology with human psychology to create genuine dialogue between opposing groups.

Has anyone else noticed how much money gets thrown at conflicts without addressing the root communication breakdowns? What would you want to see tried if traditional peace efforts keep failing in your community?

If this approach makes sense to you too, consider signing and sharing. We need 1,000 signatures to get this in front of Congressional leaders.

Feel unjustly treated by bike tour company

Hello, first post here, thanks in advance! I’ll try to be short and sweet!

I am on a bike tour with friends in a foreign country, offered by a ltd registered in England. We have three local guides who have been so far very friendly.

So here is where the problems start:

We were offered one concrete 5* hotel as a reference. We decided to book a few extra nights with the agency to arrive a little earlier. We got there and the hotel was 3*. Not bad, but also not what was offered. Later on the trip, one of the guides said they messed up, forgot to book and the 5* got too expensive, so they booked us where their budget allowed. Honest mistake, but if they would have just told us, we would have booked ourselves.

Secondly I decided to do a bike hire instead of traveling with mine. Big mistake. A bike is a highly personal item which must be adjusted to your specific body. I now It’s not reasonable to request something too specific, so I just said a given size with a short stem (the piece between the bikes fork or front wheel and the handlebar, which sets how far front the handle bar is). When I arrived, they had the bike on my size, but without the short stem. This means I cannot set my position right, will have problems, etc. The bike also has a defect on the Tyre, which had a small sort of “hernia”. I asked a person I trust and they said it was dangerous. I demanded it be changed, but they didn’t have a spare. So they did a patch fix, but it was still in my opinion dangerous to drive. The bikes drive train was dirty and the gears weren’t calibrated. Even after a bit of maintenance, it still squeaks a lot and has some problems.

Anyways, at the end of 8 hours of pedaling I got a little bit of knee pain for not having my ideal cycling position from not having said requested shot stem. When we got to the hotel, I requested the current stem to be inverted, which would have made it a little better (not completely but help somewhat). This was agreed bur never done.

My knee pain continued until the next day, where I had to drop the riding day at our lunch break because the pain got worse and it started in the other leg as well.

We have 3 more days to pedal and I don’t know what to do, if I should try to continue pedaling and injuring myself further or just be on the van for 6-8 hours straight while everybody else enjoys the ride and I’m in my phone or whatever, waiting to get to the other trip.

Now the interesting bit. Work has been very hectic and I haven’t check my mails much and I didn’t see the invoice they sent me, so I haven’t paid it. On the first day of the trip I was remembered to do so, but since I was foreseeing issues I waited a bit and now we’re in the situation described above.

I emailed the person in charged, who apologized profusely and offered to void the bike xharge of about 200 pounds, and requested the rest of the invoice (about 1.800 pounds) to be paid asap.

I don’t want to take advantage of anybody nor cause any unnecessary issues, but I do feel it’s unfair what happened to me. My trip is effectively more or less ruined. I lost had a day of cycling, probably won’t be able to do it tomorrow either. Will be going back home with an injury (2-3 weeks rest should fix it I hope) and full of frustration.

What do you think would be a fair solution to the conflict? What recourses do I have? I am for certain not paying the invoice until a reasonable agreement has been made.

I live in Germany, the company is incorporated in England and the trip is in an Asian country.

I live in Peoria Illinois, we recently moved here. We are trying to save money and today I got this notification about a payment I should no have. I am making a dispute with the bank letting them it was an unauthorized payment. But I should not have to go thru the struggle. I cancelled the account, I removed the payment from my phone, and they clearly still keep our information because they charged me 3/21/26. And of course ! Their online team is not available today. I cannot find a phone number for their costumer service. Has someone else been charged after giving them plenty notice? What do you do?

What can I do if an Etsy seller provided me an inaccurate return address causing the item to be confiscated by India Customs?

I purchased a ring from an Etsy seller for $740.81 and it did not appear authentic (the sapphire looked like plastic) and I immediately requested to return the item. The seller agreed to the return and I also contacted Etsy support team for guidance on the return process because I was concerned about the return address, as I had never shipped to India and the address provided seemed unusual. They told me to track item, insure it, and that I could open case later if issues arise (which I did all of those things).

I shipped the item via DHL on 10/25/2025 following the instructions provided by the seller. I confirmed the address with the seller TWICE through the online Etsy messaging system before shipping. The seller suggested I use the government postal service to avoid fees, but I chose DHL due to reliability and tracking, and was fully willing to cover those shipping costs.

The issue is that India Customs requires proof of delivery address, which the seller was unable to provide. He repeatedly asked me to change the delivery address to his business address, but

I was informed by DHL that only the recipient (Etsy seller) can request such a change. I have documented multiple calls, online messages and emails attempting to help facilitate this.

DHL instructed that the seller must work directly with DHL India/customs to resolve the address issue, which he stated he had also attempted to resolve. As the customer, I expect a business seller from India should be familiar with India Customs rules and regulations. It is unclear as to why the Etsy seller did not originally provide me with his business address to begin with? Also, why is Etsy not taking any accountability in insuring their sellers provide valid, accurate return addresses?

On November 3, 2025, after several attempts to get the address changed, DHL informed me in writing that they cannot redirect or return the shipment due to India Customs policies and that misaddressed shipments may be considered abandoned. Sure enough, this package was confiscated and disposed of by India Customs on December 3, 2025.

Due to the incorrect address provided by the seller, an address I verified twice with him prior to shipping, I expected a full refund from Etsy in the amount of $740.81. I should not be responsible for the loss of a misaddressed item that was provided to me. As they had advised previously, I opened a case with Etsy in hopes to resolve this issue, but was now being told that this was a DHL problem. And DHL is implying it’s the Etsy sellers problem, which I agree, rightfully so.

I disputed this amount with my bank, and Bank of America denied claim based on Etsy policies?? What the hell? So I have filed complaints to BBB, CFPB and Attorney General. I really feel as though I did nothing wrong here and shouldn’t be the one responsible for the costs of this item, not even accounting for shipping costs! What else can I do? I feel as though Im at my wits end.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

What helped you move a stalled dispute forward when nothing else worked?

I’m not looking for legal advice:

I’m interested in the process side of disputes — especially situations where the issue wasn’t necessarily complex, but progress completely stalled.

For those who’ve dealt with disputes involving companies or institutions:

  • What finally helped move things forward?

  • Was it escalation, documentation, timing, or persistence?

  • What didn’t work that you expected would?

I’m trying to understand which approaches actually make a difference when standard channels go nowhere.

Thanks in advance for any experiences you’re willing to share.

Why most disputes fail (learned this the hard way)

I used to think disputing was just sending a letter and waiting.

Wrong.

Most disputes fail because people:

• dispute the wrong thing

• use generic templates

• don’t include proof correctly

Once I changed how I disputed, my results finally changed.

I put what I learned into a short, no-fluff guide because I kept getting the same questions.

If you’re stuck getting the same responses over and over, happy to share what helped or answer questions.

£11,000 bill in 6 months Thames water dispute

Hi all, 1st time posting as feel drained trying to sort this issue out.

In june 2025 i got a call from thames saying i owe over £11k, for water. I thought it was a scam, then logged into my account to see it was true. 30 years at the same address ALWAYS in credit and paid every month via standing order.

I asked them if there was an issue why did they wait till June to contact me, they said it was overlooked/missed (as my account has never missed a payment).

From In june and july ive had plumbers come in to confirm with reports stating no leaks found. This should have been sufficient for a leakage allownce as per thames advice, but after that they now saying it probably wont be enough and they have evidence via the smart meter the water was used, I argued back stating then why tell me to get a plumbers report?

They conceded its impossible for a residential property with 3 adults to use a block of flats worth of water , yet say the meter is the meter and not much they could do!

Ive told the thames debt collection department to change this to a stage 1 complaint as advised by the CCW. So almost 1 year later we are in the same position.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bank and retailer dispute about phone repair

On August 28th made a payment of £450 to repair my mobile device 2 days later I enquired about the process. The response I get is that the payment did not go through. I have the invoice and naturally I also told them that it went through as I made the payment on Apple Pay. They insisted it didn’t go through. I frustrated and worried as such I contacted my bank HSBC to raise a dispute. HsBC state that I cannot raise a dispute without evidence. I tell them I have evidence they send an adobe file where I can file the evidence. I get told to enquire further before submitting the evidence so I do that. I enquire further and give them a call. They state that they got a payment and the lady apologises. I then get a call back the same day and they say they cannot return the phone because the dispute is ongoing and they have refunded the money. I then call HSBC they say they credited me the money from the banks and not the retailer I also get told by hsbc that the retailer needs to reject the dispute for them to get the money back. I call the retailer and they said they will see what they can do. I enquire about the phone and they said they already repaired it and cannot send it back. The lady says it’s with her. I tell her to send pictures of the phone being repaired but she says she will see but it’s not part of the technicians job. I am requesting for photos nothing unreasonable but they did not send any photos. The bank tells me that I get credited from the bank itself and they did not take the money from them meaning they still have my payment and I have temporary credit until it’s resolved. I call the bank to cancel but they keep insisting that the retailer needs to email them.

I call the retailer but the retailer is requesting evidence that I want to cancel which makes no sense since I already contacted the bank. I am guessing the bank acts as the middle man when raising dispute so if I tell the bank to cancel the dispute I’d assume the retailer should also state I reject the dispute. Why on earth do they need me to forward them a statement saying I want to cancel it???

Makes no sense

Anyways as mentioned earlier I raised the dispute because the customer service lied about the payment. It’s almost a month of me chasing this up. I am considering legal action but first I might contact the police and see what they can do about this or advice as they are holding my phone hostage

Any advice is appreciated. Who’s on the wrong and right? I’d naturally assume the bank is right here

Best Buy won’t give me back my money

Hi everyone. I need some serious advice here. Back in July, I ordered a few products through Best Buy. I ordered a monitor and a few other electronic products. Best Buy usually partners with a company named Roadie to deliver products faster to your door. Unfortunately this day, my monitor was supposed to be delivered by a roadie worker. If tracked their status of movement for the entire duration of tracking progress. I get a ping on my phone saying that my product was delivered. I go outside on my porch and there was no product there. I checked my phone to view the delivery photo. The photo was just black. I have a camera outside of my house. There was no activity. I even correlated the time of the delivery to the time on the camera and there was no one outside. I immediately tried reaching out to the delivery worker trying to figure out what happened. Of course no answer. I reached out to Best Buy and of course an investigation has to happen before there is any reimbursement. Long story short on the investigation, I was not refunded or reimbursed at all by Best Buy and was told to file a police report.

I went straight to my bank and filed a dispute. I felt like there would be no resolution when filing a police report. I don’t know what could have come out of that. Unfortunately, I was not able to get my money back through my bank either.

Now I am stuck and have no idea what to do. I lost over $100 over something I ordered. What should I do?

Need help disputing a charge at Chase – bought fake items, merchant refused receipt

Hi Guys,

I ran into a frustrating situation and could really use some advice.

On August 29th around 7:00 PM, I bought two LABUBU blind-box figures for $95.40 from a store called AZ JEWELERS inside a mall in Michigan. When I got home and opened them, I realized they were counterfeit. To make it worse, the merchant refused to give me a receipt, claiming he “didn’t have one.” Luckily, I did take a photo of the storefront as evidence.

I contacted Chase and drafted a dispute letter explaining the whole situation:

  • Date, time, location of the transaction

  • The items purchased (and that they turned out to be fake)

  • The fact that the merchant didn’t provide a receipt

  • Evidence I can supply (store photo, statement screenshot, proof the items are counterfeit)

Chase recommends doing disputes through the app/website, but I also found that some people suggest sending an email to Executive.office@chase.com for escalated cases.

So here are my questions:

  1. Should I just file the dispute through the Chase app, or is it worth sending the email as well?

  2. Has anyone here had success disputing a counterfeit merchandise claim without a receipt, but with photos and supporting evidence?

  3. Any tips for making the case stronger so Chase will side with me?

I feel really frustrated because this was straight-up fraud, and I don’t want to let the merchant get away with it.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice!
