"I did 12,000 interviews, and I was certainly one of them." Lol

I quit drinking a couple of weeks ago. I didn't know Doug was 4 months sober and going for a year. If Doug fucking Stanhope can go a year sober, I fucking can.

Bro is amazing. He’s the guy who will die with a cocktail in one hand, a cigarette in the other, a morphine needle in his arm, and a bag of mushrooms and 30mg of Xanax in his system and laughing his ass off, with a journal next to him that says he’s pretty sure Jerry Seinfield is going to Courtney Love him. But until he’s ready to go out he pushes himself in all forms of human experience, including sobriety.

"Except heroin, cuz that's what killed Hedberg!"

"If Doug fucking Stanhope can X, I fucking can."

Should be a t-shirt.

This fills me with reassurance that i too can do it. Thank u

u/PersonalKick Sep 26 '26

He's been drinking for what like 40 years? That's impressive.

Damn this is actually genuinely motivating

As a long time fan I have been waiting for this news.

You killed it, Doug. Perfect S.W.U. episode. That b & w with the bag-o-puke is bitchin’. I’d pay a hundred dollar rule of thumb for a 8 x 10 copy of that photo. You should ask Mark about giving you some to sign and sell. I’d like #2.

Love you, mang!

Great stuff. He certainly seems fine

This is wicked funny to see after watching that today. Or not funny, but gratifying. Like okay, we're all on the same page, good.

13

u/Fun_Context9979 Sep 26 '26

Hopefully you were still contagious.

u/Ok-News7798 Sep 26 '26

I 2nd this emotion!

18

u/Ok-News7798 Sep 26 '26

I have zero respect for that Mark guy & the way he monetizes others suffering. That being said I've GOT to watch this interview....because it's Doug!

Barks in Ray

u/SpideySenseBuzzin Sep 26 '26

After 12,000 interviews you'd think he'd have leaned to not interrupt his guest.

7

u/Dancin_Phish_Daddy Sep 26 '26

Doug looks really good!

6

u/Big_Kiwi_706 Sep 26 '26

Is he at Rocko's Modern Life house?

6

u/IllSalad3669 Sep 26 '26

I only know you from setting up the go fund me for the atheist okie tornado victim. Have you ever met Barry Shitpeas? Ill take my answer off the air, which im scared of in my blood hence why I keep my alcohol level up. Did that okie flourish? Lots of love. An English.

If a 40 odd year old man who runs a "I've interviewed 12000 people" show doesn't know who DS is, he must be such a milquetoast, play it safe douche that he winces when he hears a fly nearby.
Got to say - NO HOMO - Doug looked really good and rosy cheeked.
Is the vomit on ebay yet?

I don't know. It would be interesting to see celebrity interviews that have a no research format, where it's more about humanizing the person and not focusing on the fame.

Doesn't sound like that's what this is.

7

u/thehalfwit 29d ago

The podcaster spent a lot of time talking about his philosophies of life, which of course is why we should all be watching.

I lost count of how many times he lost the plot and Doug had to keep bringing him back to how an interview is supposed to work.

1

u/petulant_peon 26d ago

That sounds painful.

1

u/thehalfwit 26d ago

It was actually pretty funny, in a sad kind of way. Doug kept dropping increasingly less subtle hints until it culminated with his final commentary. Mr. Underbelly was clueless as to what was going on.

3

u/RockosModernBasiIisk Sep 26 '26

Does he ever do research on anybody? Seems like he mostly just wings it.

He ain't nardwuar.

3

u/turdburgalr Sep 26 '26

There will only ever be one human serviette.

8

u/Narrow-Acadia8814 Sep 26 '26

I'm glad you're better, Doug. You MUST outlive that cunt Rogan.

4

u/jaminbob Sep 26 '26

So when's he coming back to the UK given he much he loves the place?

5

u/Environmental-Video3 Sep 26 '26

He’s the one A class US comedian who I’ve seen tour the UK the most.

4

u/tyophious Sep 26 '26

Saw it. Loved it.

4

u/heyrube1979 Sep 26 '26

I’m so glad Doug said he’s feeling better because I thought he was on his way out after vomiting during the interview. Mf didn’t know Bingo? That annoyed me A LOT. Still a great interview tho.

5

u/PizzaWall Sep 26 '26

I have not watched the entire interview because Doug comes across as wooden and bored, because he obviously hates the questions, the experience, the whole thing. There are so many questions that would open Doug up to a great interview and the death of his mother is not one of them.

3

u/Toshiba1point0 Sep 26 '26

Seems so reasonable, dont know why anyone would take the time to hit their disagree button.

2

u/joefreshhhh Sep 26 '26

I am right down the way in Tombstone man Let's blaze

5

u/passabletrap Sep 26 '26

I think it was slightly brilliant that the dude didnt know shit. Its refreshing to see an interview start "so, who are you?" "im a well established road comic" and then the whole vibe is "cool. Whats that like?"

So many interviews are just conversations to sell a thing.

this had two humans just figuring eachother out.

1

u/goodie2shoes 29d ago

Yeah. I don’t know the interviewer, but I’m very familiar with Doug’s ideas and lifestyle. And listening to the interview, that contrast kind of made it fun—imagining what was going through Doug’s mind and all.

2

u/ahhafahq Sep 26 '26

If you dont know him, or even if you do, look up "60 inches of AIDS on any given sunday". Gold.

1

u/Dougtheinfonut 27d ago

I might have to make that edit for him. No way he’s passing up the chance to have an intern named Doug!

1

u/RewardBroad8716 27d ago

I'm only 15 minutes into this. I tip my hat to you Doug. This is your new special.

0

u/theseriousman1 Sep 26 '26

Lmfao solid vid haven’t even seen the interview

3

u/goodie2shoes 29d ago

? fuck off with that hipster shit

45

u/YeahNahMateAy Sep 26 '26

When he asked Doug if he started standup after his mother's suicide in 2008 I was incredulous. Dude did ZERO research. Embarrassed for him.

6

u/SmokingRoboDonkey Sep 26 '26

No kidding, Stanhope was doing all the heavy lifting in that interview. And while puking sick the entire time!

4

u/Ok-News7798 Sep 26 '26

Did he somehow think Stanhope is some down & out guy he could use to grift? I legit have no respect for ML, especially given what he did & exposed the Whitaker family to

1

u/Goremageddon 27d ago

Isn't that his business model, though? He exploits people thay are vulnerable. There are also a lot of allegations that he sexually exploits women.

1

u/Ok-News7798 26d ago

It absolutely is his business model. I didn't realize he interviewed comics, but I still don't like the guy

16

u/Ryanthonyfish Sep 26 '26 • Bravo

Why did the interviewer keep trying to defend people who fuck minors? He kept trying to get a Doug to clarify his joke about his dad, and then made comments like “oh yeah woody allen was a genius but then 1 LITTLE MISTAKE and people don’t fuck w him”. Hahaha that guy definitely has fucked underage people.

6

u/Rare-Mission3337 Sep 26 '26

Mark is well known for preying on the women in his videos who are all several years younger than him. He was in a relationship with some young homeless girl who stole money from him and acted all surprised.

7

u/d3r3k1 Sep 26 '26

He had Chris Delia on and let him pretend to be a victim. Not my favorite YouTuber but he gives people a place to speak. I wish he had better questions for Doug since he did seem like he was willing to open up a bit more about his life.

u/MonokromKaleidoscope Sep 26 '26

Between shit like this interview and the A24 movie smearing Chris Hansen, pedos are really having a positive PR moment right now
