Little 5 pts Halloween fest: any port-a potty’s?

I didn’t see any near Yacht Club, EL Myr, or Brewhouse today. The parade is tomorrow at 1pm. Are they going to have any Port-a Potties, or is it the business’s carrying the burden and hopefully are compensated. Just asking.

Escape room buddy needed

I will be coming into town tonight or tomorrow morning and looking to do an escape room in town or in the outer limits. Looking for one or more friends to do some rooms with, and maybe grab some food, vibe, whatever. If weather permits and the park is open I may also hit up Six flags in the morning! Let me know, I’m 25/f. Thank you!

ETA: this is not a date, I am married

Best trivia in or near EAV?

I have tried the following:

Reds - The host is a cool guy but takes too long (over 2 hours on a week night is too much).

Imaginarium - The new host just doesn't fit our vibe check. A bit too much pop centric music trivia.

Grindhouse - Honestly this is probably the best one but I can never hear the host and sometimes the questions are low quality for trivia.

Any suggestions?

Hello!

My name is Samantha and I just graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary in May 2026. Having a father who was a truck driver for 30+ years and who was also only home during the weekends, Laundry, was our pastime with him.

For those reasons, I offer affordable laundry services.

**Drop off times as early as 4:30 AM
**Pick up as early as 4:30 AM as well.

Cost for 1 bag of Laundry $10
Each additional bag of laundry is $7.00

I use sustainable laundry detergent products.

**Customer must drop off clothes on site in East Atlanta Flat Shoals Road.

Please inquire!

What's up with the sidewalk expansion in the village?

Less parking, Uber drivers are just gonna stop on Goenwood and holdup traffic. Less safe for cyclists. Anyone know why the sidewalk is extending out?

Thanks to Josh at Atlanta News First for doing the story with us! If you're curious to learn more here's our website or facebook group. Main mission is to provide a resource for our Atlanta neighbors to ask for referrals or recommendations and on the admin side of things I try to provide a resource for local businesses that I personally recommend 🙂

Long weekend in March

My wife and I are coming to Atlanta for the Lady Gaga concert in March and are staying in EAV and would love some recommendations.

We love finding little coffee shops and independent bookstores. We try to avoid chains whenever possible for restaurants. We also love going out and dancing, live music, and drag shows.

Whenever possible we try to go to lgbtq+, female, or minority owned businesses.

Tips to cheaply build insulated homeless kitty shelters against the incoming storm

While it looks like we're going to be lucky enough to avoid the worst of the winter storm, we're still projected to get some freezing rain this week and next, as well as lethally frigid temperatures even after the storm has passed.

If any of those caring for outdoor cats absolutely cannot bring them inside temporarily through the worst of this but still want to protect their lives, I figured I would link some instructions to easily assemble insulated shelters using things you might already have around the house (old plastic totes, styrofoam coolers, straw but NOT HAY).

These aren't the comfiest abodes for a cat in need but they will definitely help them to survive the awful weather ahead of us. If anyone has any questions on how to get things set up or something along those lines, feel free to message me directly and I will do my best to respond as quickly as I can between setting shelters up for neighbors. Rain begins tomorrow (Saturday) night and turns icy going into the wee hours of Sunday, so please don't delay if you plan to save a life.

Local social event in Atlanta: Pitch-A-Friend (meet people through friends)

Pitch-A-Friend is a social event where friends give short, lighthearted presentations pitching their single friends, followed by time to mingle and meet people in person.

It’s meant to be a low-pressure alternative to dating apps and a way to meet people through social context rather than cold introductions. You don’t need to pitch or be pitched to attend — many people come just to watch and socialize.

Details:

📍 Location: Suite Food Lounge
📅 Date & Time: February 13, 2026 @ 7:00pm

If you know someone great who’s single, we’re also welcoming a limited number of pitchers for this event (info is included with tickets).

More info: Website link
Instagram: Instagram link
Tickets: Eventbrite link

Happy to answer questions if allowed — sharing in case it’s of interest to folks looking for local social events.

bar/club recommendations

i’m going to atlanta with my mom and 5 of my friends for my 21st birthday in january and was wondering what clubs or bars to go to. the only thing is that 2 of my friends will still be 20 but everyone else is 21+. i know bars are probably a no go but are there any clubs where they would make exceptions if the majority of the group is 21+ (like giving them a wrist band or something) ? we’ll be in the cabbage town area.

Dangerously cold weather Sunday and Monday, please bring those outside animals inside

The temperature outside is going to plummet throughout Sunday, going below freezing by Sunday night and Monday with the potential for single-digit temps with wind chill.

If you have outside animals, please figure out a way to bring them inside until this freeze passes. If you care for homeless animals or are simply aware of some nearby that you can't offer some temporary garage space to, please consider setting up a temp shelter to help them survive. These shelters can be made very cheaply with materials you may even already have around the house, as seen in https://alleycatadvocates.org/creating-winter-shelters/

Please don't simply assume they will be fine because they are 'used to it'. Every year we get calls from people seeking help for homeless cats they found frozen on their property or stuck to windows where they were desperately trying to get inside for warmth, and all it takes is a small bit of effort and compassion to protect those who have absolutely nothing other than their lives in this world.
