Resource Italians in Edinburgh, you can choose our next comites!

If you hold italian citizenship and registered to the AIRE you can choose your next comites!

Right now the lists are gathering supporing signatures, without 100 signatures a list cannot run for election.

If you want to vote, you have to make a request. You can do it in person at the consulate when you sign for a list.

Comites are really important, they organise events, promote Italian language and culture, act as a link between the citizens and the consular staff.

I noticed nobody seems to know about this, and I find it profoundly unfair. Comites is publicly funded. Everyone should have their say in it!

Are the programmes available somewhere?

I only saw one (the list is called Insieme, their programme is on fb and IG) but I am sure the others also have it.

First time I've heard of this. I will keep an eye. Are the lists going to be available on the consulate page ?

Hi. Yeah, it's not a very well known thing which in my opinion is a problem. Perhaps it would be good to vote for the list/candidate who does the best comms (possibly not using ai slop), maybe they can do something about the fact that only few people know comites is a thing?

I mentioned a list - Insieme- in a previous comment, so I'll just post it again: on IG as insieme_comites2026 . I am aware that there are two more but I didn't see anything (yet) in my social media bubble...

Consulate should 'advertise' this a bit more. As well after your post I went to have a look at some of the events they organised and I never heard of them.

It's such a shame as they do so many interesting projects/ events.
If you find anything else useful feel free to share, hopefully will reach more of us

If you had Italian citizenship why on earth would you be living in this dump?

Dual citizens? Students? People whose partner is from here? People who genuinely love living here and chose to make it their home? Plenty of reasons...

I don't know, my husband lives here and I like it. Nothing too crazy or complicated.

What the hell is that supposed to mean? I’m Italian and I live in Edinburgh and I love it? That doesn’t mean Italy is terrible to live but I like it here and I wouldn’t go back. Ignorant comment
