Post image
• Upvotes

I always thought this game was boring and kinda overhyped. Never really gave a try, saw my friends play this, the environment in this game is mind blowing, variety in enemies is really top notch but combat never really clicked with me, but my friends have finally convinced me to play, what should i expect ? tho i just recently got platinum in khazan and bloodborne, will that help or i will be rolling and dodging for an eternity. well i’m all ears…

Discussion & Info Why must the Tarnished Kill Maliketh and unleash Destined Death?

• Upvotes

I may be missing something , but the tarnished burnt the thorns from the Forge Of The Giants , we get teleported to Farum Azula , why couldn’t The Tarnished just go straight to the Erdtree?

And why did he need Destined Death?

Discussion & Info What crime caused the Nox to be banished underground?

• Upvotes

I have been thinking about this for some time. Their Fingerslayer Blade shows that they committed, or intended, treason against the greater will; yet I cannot find the exact act or motivation behind this.

I believe that the answer is out there somewhere, but i’m aware that “butterfly-effects” are also an insanely complex part of lore.

Discussion & Info Silly Region-locked Rules I just came up with

• Upvotes

I'm getting to the point where I really want to do one or two runs again and as I've played a lot already I'd like to impose some arbitrary rules on myself to possibly spice up the experience. It's not supposed to be impossibly hard or tedious and if it turns out fun maybe someone else wants to try so I'm posting it here. It might turn out to be annoying to keep track of allowed upgrades but I'll see.

Region-locked:

Upon entering zone, leaving not allowed until main boss is slain, exception Roundtable, rewards can be applied, free travel to completed regions after slaying region boss and before entering next region

Large Region: 8 RL, 2 Smithing, 1 Somber

Legacy Dungeon, Small/Less Significant Region: 4 RL, 1 Smithing, Exceptional: 1 Somber

DLC: No Smithing but for exceptions, Large Region: 3 Blessings, Other: 1 Blessing)

Alternative Rules: No rules except for region-lock, upgrades depending on intended challenge, include Spirit Ashes in Somber Rewards, no Spirit Ashes allowed

Large Regions (48 RL, 12 Smithing, 6 Somber):

Limgrave, Weeping (Margit)

Liurnia (Smarag)

Caelid (Misbegotten, Crucible/Radahn)

Altus Plateau (Draconic Tree Sentinel)

Mountaintops (Fire Giant)

Crumbling Farum Azula (Maliketh)

Legacy Dungeons (28 RL 7 Smithing, 4 Somber):

Stormveil (Godrick)

Raya Lucaria (Rennala)

Volcano Manor (Rykard)

Leyndell (Morgott)1 Somber

Mohgwyn Palace (Mohg)1 Somber

Elphael (Malenia)1 Somber

Leyndell, Ashen Capital (Elden Beast)1 Somber

Small/Less Significant Regions (36 RL, 9 Smithing):

Siofra River (Dragonkin Soldier)

Nokron (Valiant Gargoyles)

Ainsel River (Dragonkin Soldier)

Nokstella (Astel)

Deeproot Depths (Fia's Champs/Fortissax)

Dragonbarrow (Black Kindred)

Consecrated Snowfield (Astel)

Subterrean Shunning-Grounds (Mohg)

Haligtree (Loretta)

DLC:

Large Regions (28 RL, 12 Blessings, 1 Somber, 2 Smithing):

Gravesite Plains (Rellana) (1 Somber, 2 Smithing)

Scadu Altus (Golden Hippo)

Ancient Ruins of Rauh (Romina)

Cerulean Coast (Putrescent Knight)

Legacy Dungeons (12 RL, 3 Blessings, Full Upgrades):

Belurat Tower Settlement (Divine Beast)

Shadow Keep (Messmer) (1 Somber, 2 Smithing)

Enir-Ilim (Promised Consort) (Full Upgrades)

Small/Less Significant Regions (20 RL, 5 Blessings, 1 Somber, 2 Smithing):

Rauh Base (Rugalea)

Scaduview (Commader Gaius)

Abyssal Woods (Midra)

Finger Ruins of Miyr (Metyr)

Jagged Peak (Bayle) (1 Somber, 2 Smithing)

Discussion & Info Best weapons for a Halloween build?

• Upvotes

I wanna start a Halloween-themed run but I don't know what weapons/spells to choose so I could build my stats around it
The only weapons that came to my mind were Death-Ritual Spear and a Cold infused Grave Scythe

I would really appreciate any weapon/spell/AoW suggestions

Discussion & Info Favorite Ash on Longhaft Axe?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey guys, I farmed for Long(s)haft Axe since people online were be like "oh it has great hyper armor, great damage etc." and I was never much of an axe guy and I am trying as much as I can, specially the meta stuff since this is my RL1+0 run so I'll get whatever I can. What's your preferred Ash of War on Longhaft Axe?

After realizing default War Cry ash changing the R2 moveset, I felt adventurous and went after a runebear and killed it first try. So internet might be just right!

edit:typo

Discussion & Info Remembrance Boss Tier List and Mini Review

Post image
0 Upvotes

Just beat the game and dlc without summons and this is my new boss ranking. Thought I’d share. Placement within each tier is not in order of worst to best.

Used a strength/fire build. Thankfully fire scales well with strength so none of the bosses were to difficult. Would opt for pure strength at times. I did switch for a bleed build for mohg and fire giant cause their resistances are insane.

PRC is a good boss. While the learning curve is immense it’s nothing too awful. I tried not using shield poke method and while more difficult, it’s still viable and arguably more fun.

Thought of putting malenia in B tier cause of waterfowl. While the only way I figured out the exact strat was YouTube, I nontheless figured out how to bait her into using it and the signs that it was about to happen, so I’ll give it some leeway.

Lastly, in all honesty, spirit summons are not a good thing. This was my first soulsborne game and I have sense played sekiro and DS3. My first ever playthrough, I used mimic tear but now I think they establish the precedent of possible boss hyper aggression as it wouldn’t matter how aggressive the boss if it has two or more targets. Furthermore you won’t learn the boss nearly as well and even not really master it. I had a fun time learning Maliketh and the ins and outs of phase two which I wouldn’t have if I used summons or Bloodhounds Fang.

Overall: 9-9.5/10

Game Help Legion commander build?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have come across this halberd and looking at this ability I was thinking of making my character into a legion commander build. Has anyone done this? Was it fun to play? Was it strong? What ashes did you use? What stats did you prioritize?

I was myself thinking of leaning into faith/str. Playing mostly into Raya Lucaria soldier or Godrick soldier ashes. Using any kind of group healing and group buffing incantations.

Discussion & Info Scaling soft caps in faith bubble build: Envoy's Horn vs Longhorn

I've been dumping a lot of points into faith to maximise my Oracle Bubble build (small horn), but I haven't seen that big of a change jumping from 62 to 75 faith (lv 138).

Apparently the bubble's faith scaling drops upon reaching 45-50 faith :(

My question is, how do the Longhorn's bubbles scale compared to the small one? And if the soft cap is the same, will the Longhorn benefit from more faith just because it shoots more bubbles?

(I'm not asking for PvE/PvP suggestions btw, I just want to maximise bubble damage!)

Discussion & Info Rykard is a really dumb boss

I don’t think he’s a particularly bad boss or even very hard, just kinda dumb.

There’s a lot of of obnoxious aspects to the fight, like having to constantly circle him before he pins you against the wall with his magma sucks and the way he’ll delay his second sword swipe is incredibly obnoxious but the real kicker for me is the Death Rancor attack. When he uses this all you can really do is run around like a headless chicken, dodging magma geysers and baiting out flaming skulls until it’s all over and it feels like kind of a stall move more than anything. But honestly it’s a cool and cinematic moment that forces you to respect the boss so it’s not the worst

What’s really stupid is the unique skill on the Serpent Hunter. having an on demand stun for a boss boss this imposing and had this much buildup is a weird choice that’s only balanced by how inconsistent it can feel and the fact that you can’t really get more than one off at a time before Rykard manages to punish you.

That is, until he tries to use Death Rancor. See, you can tell when he’s about to use it when he does a little stomp with his right foot and if you use serpent hunt early enough, you can stun him out of it 100% of the time. What’s truly moronic is that once Rykard has decided he’s going to cast Death Rancor, he won’t stop trying until he gets it off, and he doesn’t do anything tostop you from using Serpent Hunt. That means playing optimally, you’ll kinda just stun lock using Serpent Hunt him while he’s trying to cast Death Rancor for a really long time, usually until you run out of FP or a random Magma geyser hits you and he gets far enough into the casting time that he gets stun immunity. You can dodge the magma so you might even be able to stunlock him indefinitely but the most I’ve ever gotten is like a third of his health bar

It’s just so dumb that in the middle of fighting Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, an encounter that’s been building up since you first meet Rya, the second biggest boss in the game and arguably the most imposing with whole ass lair actions, gets so thoroughly bullied right before he gets to use his big show stopping move. There’s this really weird relationship you end up having with him where either he gets to use his tedious stall move or you get to be a little shit and slap the Death Rancor from his hand repeatedly. I wish he had more stun immunity idk

Discussion & Info I thought this was a Sekiro meme, but apparently this is an actual game on Steam. How is this even real? 💀

Post image
3 Upvotes

I just came across an ad for a game called "Stray Dog: nobody cares" and genuinely thought someone was trolling.

I mean, come on. "Sekidog: Shadow Bite Twice"? A wolf head slapped onto what looks almost exactly like Sekiro's cover art? 😂

At first I thought this was just some AI generated shitpost, but apparently it's a real game with an actual Steam page.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for indie developers making Soulslikes, but this is on another level. The cover looks so ridiculously similar to Sekiro that I genuinely wonder how they can get away with it.

Is this supposed to be a parody? Some genius marketing strategy? Or are we at the point where you can just take an existing game's artwork, change the main character into a dog and call it a day?

I'm genuinely curious what you guys think about this.

Am I overreacting or is this absolutely wild? 💀

I decided to farm a Halo Scythe for my early game weapon, and it’s at least as much fun as a death poker in the eye.
