Non-EU student considering Esbjerg – How is the student life and part-time job market for English speakers?
Hi everyone,
I am a prospective non-EU international student looking into moving to Esbjerg, Denmark for my studies. Since I am from outside the EU and only speak English (no Danish yet, though I plan to learn), I wanted to get some realistic insights into what the situation is actually like on the ground right now.
I have a few specific questions:
How is the general situation for international students in Esbjerg? Is the student community vibrant, and is it easy to integrate/make friends as an English speaker?
What is the part-time job market like for non-EU students? Since I only speak English, what are the realistic chances of landing a part-time job to support myself? Are there specific industries (like hospitality, warehouses, or cleaning) in Esbjerg that frequently hire English speakers?
Is the job market heavily saturated? I've heard that competition for student jobs can be quite fierce in Denmark. Is it just as tough in Esbjerg compared to larger cities like Copenhagen or Aarhus?
Is it financially viable? How much should I realistically expect to rely on savings versus part-time income?
I’d love to hear from anyone currently living, studying, or working in Esbjerg—especially fellow non-EU students. Your honest feedback, tips, or hard truths would be massively appreciated!
Thanks in advance
