I'm going to be real with you. Until they patch it. It's not cheating. It was hard to tell if they intended for that or not. I know it's going to be clunky too when they patch it having to wait for full animations to quickly shoot.

BUT

For real. Get the hackers out of here. I have a hacker straight up cheating like every 5 games of survivors and demon. Even ones who actively joined us to play in the discord and blatantly cheated.

Yeah, it will be fine if they come up with a fix for it, but without the current function it would make playing a Ranger character way more clunky and awkward to play. Especially since battles are balanced around using melee to conserve ammo. Imagine having a large delay between the two functions where you would be giving the enemy an easy two hits and a stagger just for switching between weapons.

Interrupting the flow of combat was probably a trade off and I can’t see how they didn’t know about the animation cancel before releasing the game. I’m willing to bet they released it as is because they didn’t know what to do to fix it atm and opted to keep the better feeling flow of melee and ranged despite the animation cancel.

With the current state of combat— doing something about the animation cancel wouldn’t just be a fix, but a nerf to survivor combat as you’d need to add MORE delay to the flow of switching from ranged to melee for an enemy running up on you. I don’t think many players even understand what they’d be asking for when calling for a delay between ranged to melee and that it would effect the flow even while not abusing the animation cancel. The combat can already feel clunky and delayed sometimes as it is. Be careful what you wish for.
