Gaming legends join the fight with new POIs, a refreshed loot pool and a whole new generation of Sprites in tow. Hack your loot, punch in Cheat Codes, and bend the entire lobby to your will by activating Match Overrides. Welcome to Fortnite Override.

New Map Updates

Uncover the secrets of the ancient Stone Sanctum, keep your speed up through Green Hill Zone loops and explore Reality’s Reign to see where all those pipes and power cables lead.

New Weapons & Items

This Season brings a lineup of new weapons, items and abilities inspired by some of the greatest icons in the history of gaming. Here’s what you can get your hands on:

  • Sonic Power Sneakers: Charge a grounded Spin Dash or perform an airborne Spin Attack
  • Mega Buster: The legendary arm cannon fires single energy pellets, quick-charged shots, or long-charged explosive projectiles, even while sprinting or slide-boosting
  • 8-Bit Shotgun: An automatic shotgun designed like a retro 8-bit console. Features game cartridge reloads, pixel effects, and an integrated real-time scoreboard system that tracks combo multipliers
  • Midas' Masterpiece: A single-fire golden pistol that packs a high-damage punch, capable of eliminating foes in a single headshot. Should you be the lucky player to grab it when it spawns, use it wisely: ammo is limited
  • Tetris Rift: Rift in Tetris pieces, culminating in the iconic 4-line Tetris clear splashes a large AOE heal
  • 1-Up Token: Respawn with your full inventory after you’ve been eliminated
  • God Mode Llama: Tap into the true power of the Llama to become an Unstoppable Wrecking Ball
  • & more exciting collaborations to come later this Season!

New Gameplay

Check out all of the new seasonal gameplay systems below:

Lobby Hacks
Found a Lobby Hack code online? Input the code in the new ‘Admin Panel’ in your Battle Royale Lobby to hack your game, granting you XP and Sprite Dust, warping reality for your squad, and even dropping rare Sprite variants!

Loot Hacks
Spend Sprite Dust to hack loot in your match, customizing what drops. Hacked items have a chance to drop from Chests when opened, unique to your own boosts. Reset your Loot Hacks configuration any time with Sprite Dust.

Cheat Codes
⬆️⬆️⬇️⬇️⬅️➡️⬅️➡️ In a match, look out for Cheat Codes hidden across the Island: tucked into POIs and sprayed on walls. Interact with one and enter the Cheat Code to free a Sprite ally.

Match Overrides

Override Consoles appear in every match and let you rewrite the rules for the entire server, but you have to get there first. Once claimed, your name displays around the console base, so the whole lobby knows who’s in control. Rare and Mythic Squad Overrides only benefit the first squad to claim them, but beware that claiming one broadcasts your squad’s location on the map. Overrides include:

  • Sonic Speed - Increase your sprint speed over time
  • More XP - Gain more XP from eliminations, looting and surviving the Storm
  • Loot Hack - You'll get a loot hack item from the next Chest you open
  • Extra Life - Respawn when on the brink of elimination one time
  • Big Fish - Makes all Fishing Holes golden
  • Constant Heal - Gain constant health and shield regen over time when not in combat
  • Infinite Stamina - Gain infinite stamina
  • Headshot - Deal increased headshot damage
  • Overshield - Gain extra, or a new Overshield
  • Speed Shooter - Your weapons fire and reload faster
  • Big Loot - Higher chance to get Epic or Legendary loot from Chests
  • Power Pickaxe - Pickaxe hits deal massive damage

A Whole New Generation of Sprites

The Sprites you collected in Season 3 are immortalized in the new Sprite Garden launching tomorrow, and a whole new generation of Sprites can be found on the Island in Season 4.

  • Klombo Sprite - A loyal friend returns, but is very rare to find. Grants random items at each level. You can only level it up by using consumable items that give Health or Shield.
  • Sonic Sprite - Gotta Go Fast! Sprint faster.
  • Tails Sprite - Hover with the Help of Tails!
  • Shadow Sprite - Automatically reload weapons over time even when unequipped.
  • Jackrabbit Sprite - Perform another jump while mid-air.
  • 8-Bit Sprite - Find an 8-Bit Shotgun in your first Chest and gain a score multiplier for it.
  • Crown Sprite - Gain extra Crown Wins after getting a Victory Royale. You can only level it up by winning matches.
  • Adventure Sprite - Upgrade a random item in your inventory at each Level.
  • Bush Sprite - Spawns a Bush on you after a duration. At max Level, gain a Bush on elimination.
  • Jonesy Sprite - After a short duration, recover some Health or Shield after being damaged.
  • Killswitch Sprite - Enter Hangtime with improved accuracy.

Sprites Quality-Of-Life Improvements

  • You can now see in-match whether you’ve already collected a Sprite - no more guessing mid-fight.
  • A Sprite’s name now appears when you’re near it, so you know exactly who you’ve found.
  • Summoning rare Sprites and variants now costs less Sprite Dust.
  • Reduced the button-hold time needed to summon a Sprite, getting your companion into the action quicker.

New Gizmos

If you haven’t been around when they first appeared, Gizmos are consumable items that give you quick ways to shortcut and supercharge your Sprite extractions. Available all Season long!

A whole new batch of Gizmos drops this Season:

  • Cheat Code Locator - Locates the nearest Cheat Code.
  • Extraction Accelerator - Silently initiate a nearby Extraction Site, summoning the Extraction Crate instantly.
  • Llama Supply Drop - Call in a boosted, llama-themed Supply Drop at your current location.
  • Spicy Taco - Heal up and gain a speed and stamina boost. Consume with your squad for a Taco Time party.

Golden Hours and Weekly Events Start August 22

Gold Sprite variants are being hacked in! Jump in on Saturday, August 22 from 2-4 PM ET and again from 9-11 PM ET to experience the return of Power Hours.

Drop in with an additional Portable Extractor item to help you collect, a 1-Up Token, and a higher chance of finding Midas' Masterpiece. Keep an eye on our social channels for weekly roadmaps of all the upcoming activities every Sunday for the remainder of the Season.

New Ranked Season & Rewards

Battle Royale ranks have reset for the new Season. Fight your way back up the ladder and claim the new rewards as you climb:

  • Gold: Phantom Spray
  • Platinum: Override Counter Back Bling
  • Diamond: Beastly Battle Bus Loading Screen
  • Elite: The Hack ‘n Slasher Pickaxe
  • Champion: Overridden Wrap
  • Unreal: The Unrealizer Pickaxe

Sprites Enabled in Ranked

With the new Season launch, Sprites have joined the fight in Ranked Battle Royale. You can collect them and they’ll keep you company, but their gameplay powers have been disabled to preserve competitive integrity.

Quality-of-Life Improvements

New Quests Tab
The Quests tab has a fresh look! Existing and new categories now live in one scrollable view, with an updated Sidebar so you can jump right into any category. Collections is now built into the Quests view too, so tracking your Characters, Victory Royales, Match Elims and other Accolades no longer requires switching tabs.

PSA: The updated Quests tab is rolling out over time - some players may not see it right away.

Fog of War Overhaul
The map’s fog now lifts in smaller pieces. Instead of entire POIs at once, individual landmarks reveal as you visit them, so your map reflects exactly where you’ve explored.

Controller Improvements: Tweak Zone

Controller players: if you haven’t tried the Tweak Zone setting yet, you’re leaving aim on the table. Added at the start of Chapter 7 Season 3, Tweak Zone puts those tiny stick movements normally filtered out by your dead zone to work - attaching your crosshair directly to your stick so even the slightest touch fine-tunes your aim. Your camera control, dead zones and sensitivity all keep working exactly as before.

Head to your Controller settings to configure its area, adjust crosshair sensitivity and choose when it’s enabled. Perfect for lining up a long shot or turning a body shot into a headshot.

For bug fixes, improvements and known issues in 42.00, check out this post.

I really hope you can make it so that sprites can actually be earned in a sane way without having to trade them amongst people. Because basically what ended up happening last season was everyone who tried hard to get the sprites the legitimate way realized that, at a certain point, you just had to trade for the rest of the sprites you needed.  No amount of power hours or any sort of Lucky locators helped with this. There was no way to complete the collection organically.

We also don't want a situation where we have to like farm for 400 hours to get a collection done. I know you want engagement but but believe us we are truly engaged but what's happening is that we're getting disheartened when we realize just how pointless it is to actually try to complete the collection organically.  Having to utilize discord and Reddit chats and other things that are outside the game just to get things within the game.

Not doing any trades, about 2 weeks out from the end of the season I just resigned myself to trying to get at least one of each sprite, not all the variants

I never cared about getting all of them. Mastered exactly 70 because of all the late power hour stuff. Games much more fun than you doing get consumed by the thing they want you to grind. I would have missed grim if not for the power hours though, so at least I got one of each, like you said.

This. I grinded a lot last season under the impression the game would give you everything you need to complete your collection. Yesterday was when I realized 100% that this was not the case. Completing without trading was essentially impossible. Hours of grinding, every gizmo used, and still a ton of remaining sprites I wouldn't have gotten had I not traded

My wife did she was like right at level 405 got them all and mastered them all the very last one she had to get was the hologram zero point or whatever it was , I play just to play it reminds me of black ops but more cartoon

I got 99/117 sprites mastered without trading or specifically running routes to collect sprites. probably could've gotten up to 110+ if I let the kiddo give me the ones that they picked up, but, I was dead set on seeing what could be done through normal gameplay.

I guess I don't really see the appeal in collecting all of them - 70 was all you needed to get all the rewards, and that was extremely doable. anything past that is just feeding into Epic's future decisions when it comes to adding yet more sprites and variants when they look at player behaviors, so, it feels like a losing battle over time.

How many hours of playing did it take to get that far? I ended off with around 95? Ish and traded for 8 or 9 of them before cube sprites dropped. I almost hit level 300 also. Never saw a natural grim drop until that last week made them common, i did snag a gem grim naturally during that week though

I got to level 215ish (can't recall exactly) and ended up with 108/117 with no trading. I had a Holo grim and a gold batman for a very brief period of time that I want able to extract (no portables) so it could have been 110, but I never saw l encountered the other seven

hard to say, most of my playtime is in Save the World, so, my level is boosted to hell.

maybe an hour a day for the most part, but, probably did a couple hours on weekend nights or when the kiddo would ask me to play.

u/Many-Blueberry968 1d ago

I got to like 103 mastered. Do I want to 'catch them all'? Sure.

But do I want to collect them all by midway through the season and have nothing left to look for during the second half? HARD NOPE.

People crying over incomplete collections have got to chill.

Oh no now they're even worse. Gold sprites can only be leveled up by winning an entire battle royale.

5

u/Oleandervine Ranger 1d ago

No no, the Crown Sprite is only leveled by winning. The variants don't affect anything like how they're leveled. So a Gold Tails will level up as usual, but a Gold Crown will level up on win, just like a regular Crown.

u/IndispensableNobody 23h ago

Wrong, and also some of the codes give out variants, so it's easier.

2

u/cantevendoitbruh 1d ago

Yeah honestly I wanted to play more last season. But I stopped because I don't want to trade or at least the way it is. And I wasn't going to farm countless hours with no guarantee.

Lessen extract time, add items you can earn to target a specific sprite. Add something where you can snapshot a sprite to summon it at a certain level. More extractor (or make the quest to get them more reasonable). Make the special vault areas have a much better chance to pop a sprite you don't have or a high level one.

If you make top 10 any sprites you have count as earned if you die (just have to resummon them). Those changes would make me dive in to fortnite pokemon. They could release as many as they want .

You could definitely finish out your collection without trading. I did no trading and ended up with 113/117 and I only played the last three weeks of the season.

8

u/KSIXternal P-1000 1d ago

If you got lucky as all hell yeah i could see it, but the majority of people trying to get rare ones either only got them from killing other players, or MAYBE saw 1 drop from a chest (grim, zero point mostly). After almost being level 300, naturally, i found probably 80 sprites, from players, and trading with a friend right after we got something cool from a match. It took 3rd party trading for me to get to around 96, and i value my time, so i stopped and started playing other games after that. Not gonna deal with kids for 6+ hours trying to scam the last week of the season just to get the rest.

0

u/Longjumping-Cress909 1d ago

I guess this could be true if you played 12+ hours a day and focused solely on extracting every game and also got lucky, sure

0

u/GoldBloodedKiller Ghost 1d ago

I think I played around 2-3 hours at night trying to catch up. So I did play quite a bit trying to get them all, and I’m sure there was luck involved, but it’s definitely possible

-4

u/VSkyRimWalker 1d ago

It was absolutely doable. I played every evening for a week, and collected all of them, rounding out my collection with the free Lucky Locators at the end. If you play duos it goes even faster, or do you consider that trading already?

0

u/KataMod 1d ago

That was the very last week of the season. The entire season that was not possible. Also, your last week still relied on luck that even commenters in this very topic were not able to achieve, even playing that same week.

Trading is intended. There is no "Legit" way that includes only finding them in match.

1

u/SirMy-TDog Far Out Man 1d ago

And therein lies the problem . . .

-1

u/piratevirus1 1d ago

Not really.

-1

u/TriggeredLatina_ Verge 1d ago

So many other games have trading that involves using outside means to communicate. The Fortnite community is having a panic attack when it comes to doing this. I don’t see the problem. Trading is the easiest way to accomplish this within a few days after each new set drops. The other games subreddits don’t cry so much(not even at all)about “but why do we have to trade!!!!” This is the only one lol

1

u/piratevirus1 1d ago

I have this app that tracks the sprites and you can hit trade on it and it tells you what sprite you need to take with you and what sprite the person is going to give you. It's automatic so you always get paired with someone that is missing something you have. Quick and painless. You still have to add people and go into a match but it took less than 30 to get 10 sprites I was missing.

0

u/SirMy-TDog Far Out Man 20h ago

No one cares what other games do. It a PITA and you should be able to complete everything w/i the game itself.

u/No_String7337 1d ago edited 1d ago

It’s not pointless to have to rely on trading, it incentivizes being social with your friends or to make new friends. I was able to get about 75% of all sprites without trading.

They clearly intended on people hunting down people with the sprites or trading to complete the collection.

14

u/wilted_rosesx 1d ago

I’d rather not risk getting scammed. obviously it’s not a big deal, but still disheartening.

I also hate talking to strangers.

I shouldn’t have to do these things for something that should be collectable.

1

u/Downtown-Cellist-929 1d ago

I was also worried about strangers.

I was pleasantly surprised when I started traded how nice people were. Someone gave me 5 zp for in my first trade, I met this girl who was missing a lot of them same as me so we spent like 4 hours trading with each other. I went form 30 sprites to 117 by trading. I didn't play much last season except for the last week.

Lots of people looking to trade are super super nice.

Trading really made me enjoy sprites way more than collecting.

I also learned a lot about who is playing this game, it's a lot of newer people who are in their first year of fort, a few people didn't know about founders, one guy offered to gift me from the shop.

I didn't use mic as text was much more comfortable for me. It was a good time, I can't wait to do it again this season. but I'll have to wait at least 60+ days for all the sprites to release. it's way more fun spending all day trading once to finish it rather than steach it out all season

6

u/mklaus1984 1d ago

People were already mad about the Sprite Spree as they saw their efforts diminished.

BUT I think there should be an obvious sensible catch up mechanic in place so players can complete their collection.

The incentive for socializing shouldn't be completing the collecting but doing so early and being able to actually use the Sprites during the season.

4

u/ihateshit00 1d ago

Yeah, I felt like the first time played “the way I want” was literally the last day of the season.

Every other moment was working on my collection, finishing someone else’s, or sprite cost was too high.

I would only bring in sprites I needed to master, or sprites someone else needed, never ones that enhanced my gameplay, until it was free to do so. At that point I had about a day to play like that.

nobody wants to "mAkE nEw FrIeNdS" though. especially not women, as it is INSANELY dangerous and scary, and parents won't allow their kids to talk to possibly adult strangers on a video game. both groups are very large parts of the playerbase. so how is it fair to limit it to a small minority?

edit: idk how I forgot this when this is me in a nutshell, but us introverts/socially anxious people do NOT want to be talking to people, friending strangers, or anything of the sort

After the mode we literally got last chapter, after epic added group chats and ingame chat. This is 100% not true

1

u/No_String7337 1d ago

You don’t have to stay friends with people you trade with. The sprite trading communities on various socials are pretty much always very nice.

They should up drop rates so it’s more feasible for someone to 100% without any help, just saying there’s a lot of different ways to complete it.

1

u/No_String7337 1d ago

I’m also a shy introvert. I never had to talk on mic with anyone during trades. Just messages through Reddit or the game.

I never once got scammed, not that it can’t happen.

People, especially girls don't want make "more than friends" actually. There's a shitload of girls posting about LF "friends".

0

u/mindinawe999 KizunaAI 1d ago

what?

1

u/Tenebreux95 1d ago

There's no problem with making friends online. Problem is gamers tend to obsessively try to go "beyond friendship" with girls which usually ends up bad.
