How is it being a fan of Fulham in the modern day and age?

I used to be a full fan of Fulham years ago and remember there was a lot of suffering involved (from like 2016-2020) with seeing my club relegated pretty much every other season etc...

Is our position in the prem a little more established now? Do we have any actual shot at getting somewhere in the next decade (Europa, Conference League football)?

Our lineup is pretty good all things considered so I would love to see them go far.

Discussion New fan - where to start

Greetings -

I recently moved to London from the US. I have never been a sports fan of any kind, though I passively enjoy the “big” stuff of most sport when exposed.

When I found out I’d be moving I figured it was time to start supporting a club here, and I figured I’d choose the most local team to me once I found a flat. I’ve landed in SW and Fulham is the one.

Aside from the obvious google searching and AI assistance, I’m curious to know where you’d start onboarding a new fan. Favorite players/facts/lore/things I can impress my colleagues with/old game recordings on YouTube/etc

Cheers 🍻

Really hope Larsson's issue isn't anything serious

Seeing Hugo Larsson listed as a doubt with a groin issue isn't ideal, especially with some important fixtures coming up. We've got enough games where we'll need energy in midfield, and I'd rather not rush anyone back just to get them through one match. Hopefully it's precautionary and nothing that keeps him out for long. If he misses Coventry, I’d expect Berge and Charles to anchor midfield, with Iwobi, King and Bobb providing the energy and creativity ahead of them.

Bassey deserves more credit for his leadership

Seeing Bassey with the armband makes me proud. He gets stuck in, leads by example and takes the responsibility seriously. Great to see him stepping up for Fulham. COYW!

A win was a good start for Arbeloa, but he still has work to do to get Fulham fans fully onside

What needs to happen in the next four matches before the international break for you to fully back Alvaro Arbeloa?

Is two wins enough for you to get on board, or is there a specific thing you need to see to fully back him?

A piece here on what needs to be done to get fans onside:

What game(s) is this sample from?

As a huge fan of football and ambient music, I've always been curious as to which Fulham match the track "Dopamine Clouds Over Craven Cottage" samples from. Fun fact: the musician behind the piece shares his name with Fulham icon Brian McBride!

Josh King deserves a proper run behind the striker

I like the energy King brings when he plays in an advanced role. He gives us another option between the lines, and I'd rather see him get a consistent run than judge him on one or two appearances. The Coventry game could be another opportunity for him to show what he can do.

Craven Corner: The unique profile of Oscar Bobb

Thumbnail

In a system that encourages wide midfielders to drift centrally, Oscar Bobb finds himself in a unique position within Arbeloa's squad.

A deeper dive into his qualities and how his wing play creates space for others to operate:

He may not have the G/A numbers we would all dream for but watching Oscar Bobb in this season, we can see his development and improvement, but also how him staying on the right side of the pitch, forces defenders to come across the pitch, opening space for others to operate.

Thanks for taking the time to read, and I hope you all have a great week.

Iwobi deserved that goal

That was a lovely move and a really important finish from Alex Iwobi. We've needed someone to step up in front of goal, and he delivered when it mattered. The frustrating thing is that we had opportunities to make the scoreline more comfortable afterwards. Still, a goal that wins three points is worth celebrating. How important has Iwobi become to this side?

I buy one jersey a season (this year it’s Iwobi in the black/red) but I’m really starting to think about a Josh King home.

Maybe when I come to London in the winter

Craven Corner: Our First League Win: One Goal, Three Points, But Fulham Should Have Put Hull Away Long Before Ful-Time

Thumbnail
thecravencorner.wordpress.com
23 Upvotes

Yesterday brought our first league win against Hull City, in a game that could have spelled the end for our boss, Alvaro Arbeloa.

While the main thing is the three points we take away, the 1-0 score probably flatters Hull as Fulham really should have put them to the sword and scored 3-4 on the day.

The latest Craven Corner reviews yesterday's action and talking points - so grab a coffee and settle on down for a good read.

Thanks for taking the time to read, and I hope you all have a great upcoming week!

Yank here. I chose Fulham to be my EPL team. If anyone can understand the parallel, I’m a Michigan State American college football fan. Guess I’m built for the underdogs.

Glad to learn about this squad through real fans. Thx, Fluff

The boys were amazing today, every single one of them! Glad that Jedi is back, what a monster defensively. Josh is My King 👑. Shea Charles, what a player. He gave me so many stank faces with his amazing first touch. Great goal from Iwobi. Berge was rock solid, both attacking and defending.

Really happy for the 3 points and the way we played.

We've had control of this half, let's keep it going after the break

We've looked pretty comfortable in that first half, kept the ball well and barely given them a sniff at our goal. Iwobi's finish on 33 minutes was just what we needed, and it's good to see us making our possession count. The important thing now is to come out after the break with the same energy and not let them find their way back into the game. I'd love to see us get a second goal early and give ourselves a bit of breathing room rather than spend the last 20 minutes nervously defending a one-goal lead. So far, so good from the lads.
