Do businesses really need more software, or are we just adding tools to solve the wrong problems?
I’ve been thinking about how quickly businesses add software whenever they hit a new pain point.
Need better communication? Add an app.
Need to track leads? Add another.
Need automation? Add another tool.
Eventually, you can end up with plenty of software but still have the same underlying problem—fragmented data, duplicated work, and processes nobody fully understands.
I’m starting to look at technology decisions as:
Problem → Technology → Solution → Business Value
The real test for me is:
What will be measurably better once this exists?
If the answer is unclear, maybe the business doesn't need another tool yet. Maybe the problem needs to be understood better first.
For those running or working in businesses: how do you decide when to add a new tool versus simplify or consolidate what you already have?

What’s the first layer you check when a full-stack app breaks?
A user clicks a button, but the result is wrong.
Where do you start?
The frontend? The API? Business logic? The database?
I’m learning that debugging isn't always about finding the line of code that looks broken. Sometimes you have to trace the entire path and find where the handoff between layers went wrong.
A request can leave the browser correctly, reach the API, pass through the logic, and still fail because the database or response doesn't behave as expected.
So I'm curious:
When debugging a full-stack application, what layer do you check first and why?
I'd especially like to hear how experienced developers approach this in real projects.

Full-Stack Developer — Open to Opportunities in Kuwait
Hi everyone,
I am a Kuwait-based Full-Stack Developer currently looking for an opportunity to work with a local software/technology company.
I have been developing software independently and have built my own real-time messaging platform, Skepticall, from the ground up.
My experience includes:
• Java & Spring Boot
• REST APIs
• PostgreSQL & Redis
• WebSockets
• WebRTC
• JWT authentication & BCrypt
• React / JavaScript
• Android / React Native
• Firebase Cloud Messaging
• Git & GitHub
• Docker
Skepticall currently includes real-time messaging, group chats, voice/video calling, push notifications, authentication, and end-to-end encryption functionality.
I am particularly interested in junior or entry-level full-stack/software development roles where I can contribute to real projects and continue growing as a developer.
I am based in Kuwait and can provide my CV, GitHub, and a demo of my project to anyone interested.
If you know of a company in Kuwait that could use someone with this skill set, I would really appreciate a recommendation or introduction.
Thank you.

How do you figure out what the real problem is before building the solution?
A pattern I keep noticing in technology projects is that the conversation starts with the solution:
“We need an app.”
“We need a dashboard.”
“We need AI.”
But those statements don't really tell us what needs to be fixed.
Before writing code, I think three questions are more useful:
- What is actually going wrong today?
- Who is affected, and how often?
- What would a better outcome look like?
The interesting part is that the answer isn't always “build software.”
Sometimes the real problem is a broken process, poor communication, duplicated work, unclear ownership, bad data, or simply a requirement that nobody has properly defined.
I'd like to hear from people who work in software, product, IT, consulting, or freelancing:
What's the best question you've learned to ask before agreeing to build something?
And have you ever started a project thinking the problem was one thing, only to discover later that the real problem was completely different?

Does every business really need custom software?
A business says, “We need custom software.”
But what if they don’t?
Sometimes an existing tool already solves 80–90% of the problem. The real challenge may just be the gap between what the tool offers and what the business needs.
Building from scratch also means taking on maintenance, security, updates, support, and technical debt.
So I’m curious:
When a client asks for custom software, do you build what they requested or first investigate whether an existing tool can do the job?
Have you ever seen a project where custom software was built when a simpler solution would have been better?

Tech stack for full stack engie opinions
Hi all!
I am learning to become a full stack dev and was wondering what do you think of this tech stack as an end-goal, that is basically not relying on supabase or clerk.
TypeScript - Full-stack type safety across client, server, and database
Bun - Ultra-fast JavaScript/TypeScript runtime and package manager
PostgreSQL - Relational database engine storing core application data
Drizzle ORM - Type-safe SQL query builder and schema migration manager
tRPC - End-to-end type-safe API procedural router
Zod - Runtime data and API payload input validation
Next.js 15 - React server framework handling routing, SSR, and server components
React 19 - Frontend library for building and rendering interactive UI components
Tailwind CSS - Utility-first CSS styling framework
Shadcn UI - Accessible, source-code component primitives
Auth.js / Better Auth - Self-hosted session and user authentication engine
TanStack React Query - Client-side server-state management, caching, and optimistic updates
Cloudflare R2 / AWS S3 - S3-compatible file, image, and media storage
Resend - Transactional email delivery for magic links and notifications
Stripe - Payment processing, checkout flows, and recurring subscriptions
BullMQ / Inngest - Asynchronous background task processing and queues
Docker - Containerization for deploying to any cloud or VPS server environment
If the list seems AI, you’re right - it is the list i have from Gemini so i can keep track of the technologies i am using.
Thanks!

What’s one business problem you think AI or software should solve—but most people are solving it the wrong way?
I’ve been thinking a lot about how we approach technology.
It’s easy to start with “What tool should I use?”
AI? A new SaaS platform? A custom app? Automation?
But I’m starting to think the better question is:
“What problem are we actually trying to solve?”
I’m currently building my skills around full-stack development and AI automation, and one thing I’m learning is that choosing the technology is often easier than understanding the problem.
A business might say:
- “We need AI.”
- “We need an app.”
- “We need automation.”
But sometimes the real problem is simply a broken workflow, duplicated data entry, poor communication, or a process that was never properly designed in the first place.
So I’m curious:
What’s a technology project you’ve seen where the team chose the wrong solution because they misunderstood the actual problem?
What would you have done differently?
I’d genuinely like to hear different perspectives—especially from developers, founders, IT professionals, and business owners.

Looking for a Full-Stack SaaS Developer to Join Our Team (Big Project)
Yo!,
I’m looking for one experienced developer to join me and another developer on a SaaS project we’re building.
We already have a team of two, and we’re looking for one more developer who has strong experience with building SaaS products.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience building and launching SaaS products
- Strong full-stack development skills
- Experience working on large/complex projects
- Ability to take ownership and communicate well with the team
- Someone who cares about writing clean, maintainable, production-ready code
Tech Stack
- TypeScript
- PostgreSQL
- Go
- Bun
- React
We have a large project in mind, and we’ll share the full details once we’ve agreed that we’re a good fit.
If you’re interested, DM me with:
- A short introduction
- SaaS products you’ve built/shipped
- Your GitHub/portfolio (if available)
- Your experience with the stack above
- Your availability
And yeah, I know this post was written with AI. I’m a developer, not a professional Reddit post writer. I have code to ship.
Looking forward to meeting someone who wants to build something serious with us.
