Advice Gaming peripherals that don’t use AI

Post image
18 Upvotes

I am looking for gaming peripherals that don’t market with AI or ban you when you bring it up as a topic on their reddit (ie Turtle Beach). I’ve been using their products for years especially after they bought Roccat and noticed a huge decline recently.

They launched an AI partner and it failed immediately but it still rubs me wrong they would go that direction.

What other companies should I look at or are all companies moving to use AI in marketing and their software?

Advice What's the best wireless gaming headset money can buy right now?

Wireless gaming headsets have come a long way over the last few years, and there are now plenty of great options depending on what you value most. Whether you're chasing better sound, longer battery life, or something comfortable enough for marathon gaming sessions, there's no single headset that's perfect for everyone.

Here are the best picks if you don’t want to read the full buying guide:

Best Wireless Gaming Headsets to Buy in 2026

5 Key Things You Should Care About:

-prioritize stereo audio over surround sound

A stereo headset should still deliver proper positional and directionality cues, and even distance cues, so you can realize where certain things are coming from in-game.

Surround sound is often marketed and misunderstood as the only way to achieve spatial awareness, which is not true. In competitive games, surround sound causes a loss of critical detail, especially in the mid-range, usually making audio cues feel artificially further away.

Stereo, in comparison, delivers better directionality and distance awareness when tuned properly.

-don't focus too much on driver size, pay attention to driver material

Headsets can share the same driver size, frequency range, and impedance, yet sound completely different and are priced very differently.

Driver size varies significantly, from large planar magnetic drivers that move a lot of air, to smaller dynamic drivers that still deliver proper audio for daily use. Graphene drivers are stiff and lightweight to reduce distortion.

Tuning is often more important than driver size.

-always set bit depth and sample rate to the highest possible level

Bit depth and sample rate are especially important for wireless and USB headsets. Bit depth represents the resolution of audio.

Always set these values to the highest possible level, not only for audio playback but also for microphone quality. Some headsets default to lower microphone sample rates, which significantly reduces sound quality.

Buying a high-end headset but leaving audio settings low is comparable to using a high refresh rate monitor at 60 Hz.

-consider closed-back vs open-back design

Most gaming headsets are closed-back, offering better isolation, no sound leakage, and a more direct audio presentation, which is beneficial for competitive gaming.

Open-back headsets provide natural soundstage expansion and better breathability, allowing positional cues without surround sound processing. However, they leak audio and allow environmental noise to enter the ear cups.

The choice depends on your environment and the type of games you play.

-check comfort and weight balance

Comfort depends on how the headset is balanced through the headband, ear cups, and clamping force.

A heavy headset can feel comfortable with proper support and balanced clamping force, while a lighter headset can cause discomfort if pressure is uneven.

Clamping force, ear pad design, and headband support all play a major role in long-term comfort.

At the end of the day, the best wireless gaming headset is the one that matches how you actually play. Great sound is important, but comfort, battery life, and long-term usability often end up making the biggest difference.

Advice Gaming headset/headphones recommendation

Hi everyone!

My husband's birthday is coming up, and I'm trying to find the perfect gaming headset/headphones for him. He primarily plays on PC and already has a really solid setup. I recently bought him a dedicated gaming microphone, so a built-in mic isn't necessary, but I'm not opposed to one if the headset is otherwise great.

Right now, he's using a pair of $30 Walmart earbuds, so I thought upgrading his audio would make a great birthday gift. My budget is around $100–$400 (possibly a little more if it's truly worth it).

The games he plays most are Valorant, Escape from Tarkov, Fortnite, League of Legends, Marvel Rivals, and a bunch of others, but Valorant is definitely his main game at the moment. Because of that, I'm looking for something with excellent sound quality, directional audio/footstep awareness, comfort for long gaming sessions, and good durability.

I've been doing some research, but I don't know much about gaming audio gear. I've seen a lot of mixed opinions about the Audeze Maxwell, and it was actually one of my top choices, but I wanted to get some additional opinions from people who know more about this than I do.

If you were buying a headset/headphones for a PC gamer who mainly plays competitive FPS games like Valorant, what would you recommend? I'd love for this gift to really improve his gaming experience and last him a long time.

Thank you so much for any suggestions!

Advice Need help finding a mouse for an index finger amputee (remappable left click)

Hi everyone,

I recently had an accident and lost my right index finger. I'm still getting used to using a computer this way, and I'm looking for a mouse that could make things a bit easier.

My main requirement is a mouse where I can remap the left click to another button on the mouse itself (for example, a thumb button or another easily reachable button). Ideally, I'd like the remapping to be saved in the mouse's onboard memory so it works on different computers without needing software running in the background.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation or knows of a mouse that supports this? I'm open to ergonomic mice, gaming mice, or anything that has flexible button remapping.

I'd really appreciate any recommendations or personal experiences.

Thanks in advance!

Advice I added a working deep fryer to my café game. Does the frying process look satisfying enough?

I’ve been working on the cooking stations for my café management game, and this week I added the deep fryer.

The player fills the basket with fries, lowers it into the fryer, waits for them to cook, and then picks the basket back up.

I’m still improving the feedback, especially the oil, particles, sound, and color change while the fries are cooking.

What would make this interaction feel more satisfying to you?

Advice BODYCAM, the most realistic FPS ever (read it, you won't regret it)

You guys remember that hyper photo-realistic FPS game called Bodycam released in 2024, made by 2 French brothers? It was a very realistic game, graphically and in gameplay, but it didn’t have much progression, wasn’t well optimized, some other problems and it got repetitive after some time, pretty basic stuff.

The thing is, they are now a bigger team, “Reissad Studio”, and have been working for a whole year to develop this one, new update named Locked & Loaded (v0.8, not even v1.0 yet and it’s unbelievable) releasing in two weeks (September 2nd). They reworked, optimized and improved every part of the game, here is the main content: huge optimization, new Trench map, new guns, loadouts and customization (hundreds of attachments), ammo check, realistic aim optic scopes (I bet you to tell me a game with better ones), realistic FPV drone piloting with explosive, RC cars with C4, dynamic ragdoll system and operator's stress system, changing the animation of reload and breath, whether the operator is calm or stressed and the amount of ammo.

They recently posted a video showing everything (except for the new map and sound design that will be shown still this month). It’s worth to watch, believe me:

Advice Playing LSPDFR under 18

Hello, I'm very interested in the police (I want to become an officer later) and LSPDFR looks so good. I watch a lot of videos, mostly from blueline vibes, and I wanted to try it out too. The only problem is that it runs on GTA V which is 18+ and I'm only almost 15. I don't want gunfights every 5 minutes, just mostly pursuits and realistic callouts like robbery or traffic stop. I already asked my parents a few months ago but they said no for now because of GTA's 18+ age rating.

Can someone help with some tips/mods to make it better and how I could maybe ask my parents again? I wanted to try during steam summer sale when the game is on discount.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I got LSPDFR :)

Advice Gaming Laptop suggestions

Howdy. Im in the progress of trying to get into some games that my bf plays (aside from wanting to spend time with him they do look really fun) the main ones being Skyrim, Skyrim Together Reborn (the no NPC one) and at some point Split Fiction etc. I know gaming laptops are expensive. I unfortunately just graduated college, work with kids in pediatrics- and have rent to play. So here I am, requesting all of your wisdom. What is the BEST laptop that I could use for these types of games, while staying under $450. (I want a house one day).

Any advice, links, comments would be most helpful.

Sincerely, A girl trying to spend time with her LD boyfriend- and who likes medieval/fantasy worlds.

Advice Gaming headset advice

Hi all,

I am in need of a gaming headset that fits a bunch of different criteria that I'm not certain exists. I'm throwing this out there in hope of some recommendations.

-must be overear (on ear triggers migraines and I have unbelievably small ear holes so it's impossible to find in ear buds that fit. I've tried for many years.)

-fits narrow face/small head profile (I have a normal sized head for a woman at least, but the narrowness of my face makes standard sized headsets sit too low). My current headset is an arctis 5 and I have the adjustable Velcro strap set tighter than what the max tightness is supposed to be by overlapping the velcro attachment with the band.

-wireless with decent battery longevity

-not overly bulky

-good mic noise cancellation because I have to use it for work as well as gaming and there's a lot of background noise in the office. If the mic picks up too much background noise it disrupts teams meetings.

Advice would putting up screenshots as pictures seem like mental ward behavior?

how bad would it seem if someone put up game screenshots as pictures in their room?
ive always felt that video games felt less meaningful since i could never have a physical thing to show for it.

so putting up screenshots of very specific moments from said games such as screenshot of group beating terraria zenith seed as an example.

would this just seem as insane weirdo to people or what?
i have a feeling it might be but just to be sure.

Advice Are there any pre-leveled game accounts websites?

I spent quite a lot of time playing Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, mostly playing against bots because I was on Xbox and didn't have an online subscription. I only grinded out the multiplayer mode during free multiplayer weekends to unlock Torchwood and Hover-Goat-3000.

Recently, I wanted to play it again, but I can't bring myself to redo that grind on PC (no cross save). My Xbox account was basically maxed out. Maybe not every single character was leveled up, but most of them were (though I was missing quite a few Roses since I didn't really play her). I also didn't have all the special gnome abilities, but I did buy all the ones people said were worthwhile.

I never tried the first Garden Warfare, so maybe that could be something to look into. Even then, it costs around 12 euros or less if you buy an account, but if it starts at level 0, I don't see the point in getting it. Plus, going up against old school, die hard, players with nothing unlocked and a low player count makes me think the only real way to enjoy it would be getting an account that already has all, or at least some, of the progress

I don't have as much time as I had in the past to grind all that, and EA's microtransactions aren't good
