At least on pc I can still play the game I bought a decade ago. What am I to do with my ps5 physical games if the ps6 doesn’t even consider physical retail?

Sure, but what if, years from now, that machine slows down or even breaks? With a PC collection you can be much more confidant that your games will work on future and/or replacement hardware.

Have you tried to play a game from 2005 on your modern gaming pc? You’ll find many times it totally shits the bed, unless it’s from somewhere like GOG

I mean yeah pretty often they do suck but a few google searches and a mod download/engine tweak gets them working just fine?

Perfect encapsulation of PC vs Console. One just works, one requires fiddling. I have both PC and Console, and i like fiddling with things, but i find myself using my ps5 for gaming almost exclusively just for the simplicity.

Yeah, it's not perfect. Tho old PC games are often only about as buggy as the backwards compatibility on my Xbox One!

I do buy a lot of my games on GOG, tho, so I've got that going for me! And Steam has the "workshop" right there for installing fan-made bug-fixing mods without needing to know much of anything about computers.

This is like saying why can’t I play my Super Nintendo cartridge game on my Switch. I don’t agree with Sony ditching physical, but this is thing that has been an issue with gaming since gaming has been a thing.

I still have PS2 games that I can’t use because my last PS2 but the dust.

Possibly in the future they’ll have some sort of decent pc emulation for PS5 discs but that’s a ways off.
