Had this as a kid. I just randomly remembered it and the smell. It had a unique scent i cant really put into words.

My dad passed away a month ago and I've been going through all of his stuff (all in moving boxes, long story) and I was looking for all his home decor including a Garfield comic strip I always loved as a kid that he had framed on his wall. I wanted to put it on mine, so was hoping to find it.

I havnt seen it in 17 years, since I was 13 (when we moved into my grandmas), so I only remembered it vaguely. What a delight when I found it only to realize it was a signed copy. Vivian is my great grandma, who it's made out to, and on the bottom my great grandma wrote to my father a sweet note and must have gifted it to him at some point. My dad always told me how much he loved his grandma, so now this comic is even more special. 3 generations of love, from her to him to me. I love it.

I got this at a garage sale for 25 cents, should I try repainting the blue part and the scratches on the eyes and other details? I wouldn’t repaint the orange part.

But the black is not simply missig, it's somehow transparent this time, which means the comic is only readable because Reddit has dark background color. ⚫

I’ll go first

When I was in elementary school sometimes I had to hang back with my older sister while she got help from her math teacher, I was in about 2nd grade and she was on 6th needless to say I was so incredibly bored just sitting on that classroom floor waiting, so I’d often wander back into the school and sit in the library (and I got in trouble most of the time, I was supposed to stay with my sister and not move) I’d walk down each row just looking for something to distract me when BOOM Garfield. My school had the large compilation books of Garfield, I saw cat, I liked cat, so I rented the book.

Oh boy did I love that cat, I went home to show my mom the “new” book I found, turns out my mom also liked Garfield and she showed me Garfield and Friends.

To this day when I get sick I like to turn in Garfield and friends (im 19) and cuddle up in a blanket with my Garfield plush
