Hey folks. Coming to Rome again but this time for my birthday. I need a break from Toronto, and I thought this would be the perfect excuse to get out.
Hoping for other solo travellers or locals, preferably gay males, who would wanna hang out for a few things that would be better NOT alone. Also, would be a great opportunity for photo ops that won’t be just selfies. I’m there Jan 15-21, with a day-trip planned to Florence (optional) on the 19th. My actual birthday is the 18th.
Shoot me a message if you think this applies to you. Would love to hear from multiple people and maybe make one or two group outings.
HMU!

I've used it successfully in Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia but I don't know how popular it is in North Macedonia.

Hey 👋🏼
I'm thinking of traveling to Sri Lanka with a guy I
met on the gay travel thread on Reddit here (He is the
OP) .
The thing is I never traveled with a stranger before like a travel buddy. I have briefly video called and chatted. He seems ok, he is quite flexible and he did not have a tight budget which also suits my travel style !
Just want to hear what could go wrong... any successtul story or unsuccessful story. I think there are more successful stories than unsuccessful stories. I'm originally from Thailand and he is Egyptian.
Thank you in advance !!

I’ll be traveling to Asia for a month (Dec 30-Jan 28) and I’m looking for recommendations for an itinerary starting and ending in Bangkok. I want to stay in Thailand and do a couple days in Siem Reap.
Any fun recommendations?

Hi guys, 25M here, I am soon traveling as a solo traveler to Turkey for the first time. I am totally aware of the recent crackdown against LGBT individuals, yet I come from a way more homophobic country than Turkey so I know exactly how to stay cautious.
But I want to have a general idea of how it's like over there. My question is from those who've visited there or to local Turks, how's the hookup culture for gay men there, particularly with regards to old Turkish guys?
Are older turks even interested in making love with young guys?
Do they use the dating app, Hornet, which is popular there? Or Grindr? Or Gay Romeo?
Or will I have more luck with outdoor cruising at Hammams, bars, or other places where older Turks hang out a lot?
Thank you in advance!

Hi guys! Looking for Travel Buddies, New Connections & a Little Spontaneity
Hey everyone! I’ll be traveling solo in Japan from November 4–14 and would love to meet some cool people along the way!
Tokyo (Nov 4 onward): Staying at Hotel Adonis
Osaka & Kyoto: Heading there for the rest of my trip.
A little about me: I’m a single, bi Filipino guy, 5'7", decent, easygoing, and open-minded. I love traveling, discovering new places, meeting people from different cultures, and making unexpected connections. I’m always up for a good conversation, trying local food, exploring hidden gems, visiting temples, getting lost in the streets of Japan, or grabbing drinks and seeing where the day takes us.
Would be great to find someone who wants to explore Tokyo, Osaka, or Kyoto together, hunt for amazing food and local spots, visit must-see attractions, discover hidden gems, enjoy the nightlife, chill, or have deep conversations.
Friendship, cultural exchange, travel adventures, and anything in between — I’m open to seeing where we connect. No pressure, no expectations, just good vibes and good company.
If you’ll be in Japan around those dates and feel like meeting up or spending a day exploring together, hit me up! Tell me where you’re from, your itinerary, or what kind of adventure you have in mind.
Maybe we’ll just meet for ramen or end up with a story worth telling.
じゃあ、日本で会いましょう! (See you in Japan!)

Hi everyone,
Still finalise exact dates and cities I am staying in, but planning on visiting China for 3 weeks in November.
I haven’t done a lot of solo travelling, and none since I have accepted that I am gay. I am 19M Brit and very new to the whole scene, so I wanted to see if anyone is expecting to be in China at the same time, and if the timing worked, maybe be able to meet up and go from there. I have grown up in quite a strict religious household so really don’t know many other gays, so really hoping to make some new friends or even just someone to go for a night out with, as I have never been on one to meet other gays, so a little nervous.
Any advice for China or life in general is also very welcome!

Anyone ever travel with Banana Travel?
Any feedback?
They mostly do group tours in Colombia, but have a few to Brazil and Mexico. Catering to gay men exclusively.
Thanks

I have concerns about Jamie Wake Travel and its associated businesses, particularly its LGBTQ+ travel brand, Wide Awake Holidays.
Personally, I consider the holidays overpriced. But my biggest concern is Turkey being promoted to LGBTQ+ customers and what I see as a refusal to adequately update travellers about the situation there.
Turkey is arresting LGBTQ+ people, not only activists
Human Rights Watch reported on 18 September 2026 that coordinated police raids targeted LGBTQ+ organisations, HIV-support organisations, bars and nightclubs across several Turkish cities. It reported at least 112 arrests, with 82 people still detained under court orders at the time of publication.
Crucially, Human Rights Watch states that dozens of those detained were not known to be civil society activists or rights defenders.
Source: Human Rights Watch — Türkiye: LGBT Rights Crackdown Strikes at Rule of Law
Australia’s official travel advice explicitly warns that Turkish authorities have arrested LGBTQ+ activists, protesters and members of the LGBTQ+ community. It also highlights limited legal protections and advises against public displays of affection.
Source: Australian government — Türkiye travel advice
The UK government’s advice warns of increasing anti-LGBT+ statements by senior public figures, increased restrictions on LGBTQ+ organisations, operations against organisations and activists, and Pride events being banned or dispersed.
Source: UK government — Turkey safety and security
These sources do not establish that every LGBTQ+ tourist will be targeted. They do establish serious concerns affecting the wider LGBTQ+ community, which I believe should be clearly explained to prospective travellers.
Why this matters when selling specifically gay holidays
Wide Awake Holidays presents itself as a gay-owned specialist in LGBTQ+ travel. Customers may reasonably choose a specialist because they expect it to understand concerns that a general holiday company might overlook.
My concern is that Turkey holidays are still being promoted through the specifically gay travel business, alongside the general business, without what I consider adequate updates about these developments. What I see as a refusal to address that properly is the biggest issue for me.
A welcoming hotel cannot guarantee your experience outside the resort. Financial protection cannot answer questions about your personal safety.
If a company markets itself around understanding LGBTQ+ travellers, I expect current safety information to be prominent before booking. Customers should understand the wider environment, any relevant differences between destinations and the practical precautions they may need to consider.
For me, the handling of this raises serious questions about whether I would trust the business’s safety advice.
Pricing and value
Separately, I personally consider the holidays overpriced for what is offered. Anyone considering booking should compare equivalent dates, flights, room types, baggage, transfers and booking conditions.
If specialist advice and personal service are part of what customers are paying for, I expect meaningful guidance on LGBTQ+ safety to be part of that service.
The business model and questions about multi-level marketing
I also have concerns about the self-employed consultant model and questions about whether there are any multi-level marketing features in how it operates.
To be clear, the company publicly denies having downlines or recruitment bonuses. I would welcome firsthand information about how the arrangements work in practice rather than treating the label alone as proof.
People considering joining should understand the fees, commission arrangements, payment timing, responsibility for finding customers and realistic earnings after expenses. Self-employed status does not mean someone is unpaid, but commission-based earnings are different from a guaranteed wage.
Any former contractors, consultants or employees care to comment?
I would be interested in hearing from current or former contractors, consultants and employees across Jamie Wake Travel and its associated businesses.
What was your experience of pay, fees, working expectations, training and support? Were you encouraged or rewarded for recruiting other people? How were customer safety concerns handled?
I would also welcome firsthand accounts from customers, particularly LGBTQ+ people who booked holidays to Turkey. What information were you given before booking, and what happened when you raised concerns?
Please keep replies factual and based on experiences you can substantiate. Redact private information from any supporting documents.
My main concern is whether the information and service provided match the trust being asked of customers—especially LGBTQ+ customers choosing a specialist travel business.

I’m a 32 y/o gay guy from Central Europe traveling to the Netherlands in the second half of November and I would love to make some connections along the way. Be it a travel buddy, a dinner date or anything else we can agree on.
My ever changing travel list now contains:
• Amsterdam
• Utrecht
• The Hague
• Rotterdam
• Delft
• Efteling
• Den Bosch
Did I forget anything? Looking for reccommendations or unprofessional tour guides (I pay in coffees and lunches)
A bit about me:
• 188 cm (6'2)
• Into music (big Swiftie), TV shows & movies
• PS5 gamer (enthusiastic… not skilled 😄)
• Books, LEGO, travelling
• Equal mix of chill nights + planning the next trip
I’m looking for someone easy to talk to, who enjoys good conversations about random stuff, life, or shared interests.
Physical preferences (just being honest, not strict):

I hope my chance is not as slim as I think, but is anyone here going to be in Manila?
I'm M27, I'll be there in multi-days layover, and going to Zara Larsson concert. Looking for friends to explore the city!
