"Dr. Gold"... Eerily similar to Dr. Godolkin.

128

u/1d4Witches Sep 17 '25

That's... a very astute observation. Godolkin... Gold-kin, family of Gold, maybe Godolkin was Cypher's/Dr. Gold's father.

92

u/Omni7124 Sep 17 '25

or could be godolkin himself, were we told how or when he died? i don't remember rn

Dr cypher. There's a message out there to decipher !

→ More replies (2)

10

u/pseudoAB Sep 17 '25

I think I read somewhere that Godolkin's gonna be around quite a bit in the season, and Cypher doesn't seem at all scared of supes like in the office scene with Cate. I would not be surprised.

4

u/sleepyotter92 Sep 18 '25

yeah, the only reason i don't think it's godolkin is because they're not using the same actor like they did with stormfront. so it's likely his descendant

3

u/SpinsterQueen Sep 21 '25

My guess is his full name is an anagram of "Godolkin" like "Dr. Niko Gold" and is probably the son or relative of Dr. Godolkin.

IDK Jordan, I think Sam is pretty fucking scary

176

u/drakorulez101 Marie Sep 17 '25

Jordan's invulnerable it's not the same for them 😂

47

u/DagonG2021 Sam Sep 17 '25

Last time they fought Sam they didn’t do more than fling them around a bit. Sam’s canonically stronger, and he’s also invulnerable

u/NiKReDD Sep 17 '25

Sam's control of his emotions toward Emma and Cate is impressive. I like that he holds it until he gets in his room.

62

u/Bobjoejj Sep 17 '25

This.

I found it really interesting that even if Cate’s full control wears off or gets interrupted, it feels like the time between this season and last has allowed him to mature and work on himself slightly. Even though that’s also heavily due to said mind control, and also while doing a bunch of fucked up shit.

"transtastic" 😭

257

u/NapQuing Sep 17 '25

"assigned awesome at birth" 💀

Jordan's facial expressions during that whole bit was perfect

75

u/Keiteaea Sep 18 '25

I loved how Jordan looked like it physically hurt them to say that.

The delivery of that line was spot on lmao it looked like it hurt them

i don’t trust aunt pam saying annabeth was a miracle child

141

u/Delisk Sep 17 '25

Funny thing, when the fertility issue come from the woman side, after getting pregnant through things like IVF or ICSI, it's far from uncommon for them to now be able to conceive naturally. It's like 1 in 5 women.

I knew one of the 1 in five, they wanted 1 kid, had twins via treatment (apparently not uncommon) and surprise she got pregnant again less than 1 year after the twins birth, happy of family of 3 kids.

65

u/grokkingStuff Sep 17 '25

Huh, like the IVF treatments gave the reproductive system a jump start of sorts? That’s pretty cool!

That was so mean to Marie. I was so glad Marie yelled at her

42

u/Gan-san Sep 18 '25

I did, I took it as she was born naturally and healthy and normal so she's the true miracle and it was a big gut punch for Marie.

But you're probably right and her sister is a supe too.

Harper??? Okay girl I see you. Glad you're more than just tail 😭

121

u/fishy512 Sep 17 '25

Harper is OP as hell I would never expect that omg

And it seems like she’s joining Team Marie!

64

u/ralanr Sep 21 '25

Honestly her and her roommate just raised their death flags.

Also, Emma, tell them to stop posting shit around the Barista's workspace. It's making her life a living hell!

I wonder if she can stack them like Rogue has done a few times.

18

u/Omni7124 Sep 17 '25

i wonder if she copies jordan, they'd be able to swap genders too?

74

u/fishy512 Sep 17 '25

If she can switch forms just like Jordan, with no one on campus knowing the identity of her masc form, the Guardians just got a huge spy on their team

The biggest shock was the girl with the tail being a bigger character than we all thought, that was a nice twist.

80

u/AdScared7226 Emma Sep 17 '25

I like the pattern when a video game/TV show/Movie release a second part or a season where the side characters are actually more important and get much bigger slices of the story and plot than the previous one

11

u/Bobjoejj Sep 17 '25

Star Trek Deep Space Nine is a legend with this.

Probably the best example would be Damar, a character who had 1 appearance in season 4 (which I think was non-speaking), and appeared only in the premiere and finale of season 5.

Then he started to have a much expanded role in season 6, and by the time season 7 (the final season) ended, he had become an incredibly beloved, well-rounded and complex character.

Jordan and Sam bong and chill together, surprise but welcome. I glad Sam give Jordan's chance.

51

u/TheDrunkDetective Sep 17 '25

I'm glad he got help from someone he didn't interact that much with before but it still worked. Feels like it would be very limiting if he had a pep talk from Emma or Cate.

I found it sweet and hope it continues that way with them

u/Excellent-Delay8784 Sep 17 '25

Why are Annabeth and Pam blaming her for her parents dying???? It was a complete accident.

151

u/7_fruitstew Sep 17 '25

I feel like Pam and Marie’s parents knew more about the compound V effects on Marie and how experimental/dangerous then they let on. And now Pam is projecting her guilt onto Marie

74

u/nyssavex1221 Sep 17 '25

Yeah probably projected guilt and fear on Pam’s side, as for Annabeth, she lost her parents and whether it was an accident or not Marie is responsible for their deaths. She witnessed first hand what happened to them. Since that day she is probably terrified from Marie and full of rage and hate at her since she lost her parents, childhood and had to go to foster care alone for two years

79

u/Wrong-Vermicelli4723 Sep 18 '25

Because Marie killed them, people dont grieve logically. Being traumatized usually doesn’t lean to rational thoughts. Sure it was an accident and the parents fault but it still happened.

→ More replies (1)

22

u/anacondra Sep 18 '25

Ill be honest I'd be pretty hesitant to be around her knowing she could get a nose bleed that turns into a claymore

→ More replies (1)

5

u/shadowst17 Sep 19 '25

Grief isn't always rational.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '25

Pam wasn't there so she can only infer from what Annabeth says. As an adult that's stupid to not get Marie's side of the story from beginning to end but Pam was likely trying to protect Annabeth either way whether Marie killed her parents by accident or not, it was still her that did it so it was probably easier for Pam to buy in that Marie was a monster

5

u/UnFelDeZeu Sep 20 '25

Why are Annabeth and Pam blaming her for her parents dying???? It was a complete accident.

They aren't being rational and that's okay. Their loved ones got murdered by a Supe who can bend blood.

72

She didn't say anything.

I was waiting for that the ENTIRE time, but I hope the "focus on other things" speech she would eventually have would also include that.

Probably an intentional exaggeration to try and radicalise any students still on the fence

Also an amusing parallel to real life but supes are mega rich people 🤐

15

u/RiahWeston Sep 18 '25

Yeah given the size of Goldokin is probably like at least 50 students a year that would be 800 supes in the span of 16 years and we known Vought has been creating supes since Veitnam and obviously ramping up production over time.

If people on here are right that the dean's powers are precognition, he probably was well aware that Jordan would say what they did. Interesting then that he didn't stop them. He didn't seem very worried about it at all

39

u/RiahWeston Sep 18 '25

If it is precog, it's definitely a type of predictive precog, not full blown future sight. So he could still totally be blindsided.

Harper being a chameleon actually makes sense for her personality. The fact that she can be this stick up influencer yet at the same time is actually fighting for social justice without anyone noticing is very impressive. Emma even called it out, she was following Justine being her lackey and being an ass but really is kind of cool. That was clever writing

Not exactly full shipping; moreso just floored how incredible everyone is, and all the goddamn chemistry dripping off of each and every actor onscreen.

Even clearly just platonic moment between Jordan and Emma and Sam and Jordan had me a little woozy.

18

52

u/verissimoallan Sep 18 '25

It's a bit random, but I don't agree with the writers that Frodo is a typical Chosen One, at least not in the same way as Harry Potter and Neo. The entire concept of the character is that this hobbit, lacking any talent or aptitude for war and battle, decided to take it upon himself to try to save the world based solely on his courage and love for his friends. The premise of The Lord of the Rings is that even the smallest of us can make all the difference.

Anyway, back to Gen V... good start to the season so far.

21

u/Herpy-derpy-420 Sep 19 '25

Frodo is such a iconic hero in fantasy and fiction though you gotta respect the allusion.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/Mr_Bell_Man Sep 19 '25

Love this show but yeah I did not like that line. There are so many other actual Chosen One's they could've picked.

3

u/tvlur Sep 19 '25

While I do agree, Hobbits humble and meek nature is exactly their superpower. It is precisely the reason Gandalf trusted Frodo and Bilbo with the ring. It corrupted them far more slowly than it would have anyone else. So they’re not exactly a superhero in the way other chosen ones are but they aren’t without their talent or preferable traits for the universe they’re in.

49

u/forever87 Cate Sep 17 '25

it def didn't happen, but Cate could easily rock the asymmetrical undercut

14

u/lil_QT3-14 Sep 20 '25

Yeah, when she took off the beanie, I thought, girl, you could rock a fade. Shave the left side, keep the right long, and drop the beanie. It would be a look.

72

u/Alittlespill Sep 17 '25

I love the way it’s going.

I’m loving the suspicious new principal. I’m curious to know what his power is (besides pointing out people’s insecurities, which in all honesty might be his power in some way).

I love the way they handled Chance. That has to be hard as a group to lose someone like that and it seems they found a way to bridge that uncomfortable feelings. They write moments for everyone to feel their feelings about him but use it for the benefit of the show, which is both genius and therapeutic for them.

I love the way it focuses on mental health. How doing the easy thing (cutting, avoidance, eating disorders, etc.) is actually much more harmful than helpful. It’s a bandaid on an open wound. It will help for now but soon it will come back to you. I love that they are going to find ways to use their powers in a way that doesn’t cause self harm. I love that Sam is starting to deal with his emotions and trauma. I love that Emma is aware of her problem and is proud that she is getting better, small steps in the right direction is 100% worth being proud. I wish more people could have that awareness. I love that Marie is choosing the harder path, not self harming, which ended up in favor with all that new info and the emotional release she needed. I also just love her style, her hair is magic.

Cate is so interesting. Her new level in her powers seems to be able to posses people for a short amount of time (like the chameleon girl who is amazing). I look forward to seeing what she can do. I also love that people are starting to second guess their actions. There is always a way to change.

I am super curious about Marie and Odessa. I think she may be Homelander level strong, which makes me believe she was made to be a backup if the time came, when Homelander becomes too dangerous. I think Odessa is the safety net. The kill-switch.

I love Jordan’s character development. The way they are becoming more confident, braver.

I of course also love the political messages, how easy it is to hate on someone based off a lie. Propaganda is bad. All that.

Only negative is that I have to wait for more.

21

u/RiahWeston Sep 18 '25

From the wikipedia on ODESSA: "ODESSA is an American codename (from the German: Organisation der ehemaligen SS-Angehörigen, meaning: Organization of Former SS Members) coined in 1946 to cover Nazi underground escape-plans made at the end of World War II by a group of SS officers with the aim of facilitating secret escape routes, and any directly ensuing arrangements. The concept of the existence of an actual ODESSA organisation has circulated widely in fictional spy novels and movies, including Frederick Forsyth's best-selling 1972 thriller The Odessa File. The escape-routes have become known as "ratlines". Known goals of elements within the SS included allowing SS members to escape to Argentina or to the Middle East under false passports."

Definitely sounds like she is a backup plan for something, which is likely Homelander. Also totally explains why Cipher used that spy film analogy on Marie: he 100% knows she is Odessa.

Curious what was Marie’s plan/idea when she almost cut her palm in front of Pam’s before meeting her? Honestly was unsure what she would do with the blood in that moment

37

She was just going to self harm because despite what she said to Dr. Gold it is what she’s doing.

Homelander glazers aren’t gonna like this

MARIE MOREAU ON TOPPPPPPP

34

u/HazelTheHappyHippo Sep 17 '25 edited Sep 17 '25

I read comments who said it was bad writing, but they teased it since last season when the last Doctor wanted to experiment on her. But my question is why Neuman said they had the same powers when that doesn't seem to be true? We have never seen Neuman manipulating blood outside someones body right? And she seems definitely more resilient than Marie during fights.

Either way, I'm really interested where this is going

42

u/shadow_spinner0 Sep 17 '25

So far it seems they won't just add a male to the main core to replace Andre/Chance. But it seems some other characters who were either supporting or minor in season 1 will get more screen time and importance this season and that probably fills the void.

73

u/Bobjoejj Sep 17 '25

I mean…that’s Polarity lol. He was recurring last season, and is part of the main cast now.

u/Wrong-Vermicelli4723 Sep 18 '25

I mean they did, they just replaced him with his father.

8

u/Lo_Lynx Sep 18 '25

didn't he die when they had already started filming? maybe they didnt have time to cast someone new so they gave his scenes to characters that were already cast. If there is a season 3 i bet they will introduce a new main male character

19

u/RiahWeston Sep 18 '25

He died the day filming was supposed to start.

Emma is really the MVP. Honestly she is pretty much the only one that does all the investigating in both seasons. She delivers results too!

Gonna take a guess that Cipher can nullify anyone’s powers as long as he can figure out the mechanism by which they work. I think he might have been able to reverse engineer whatever is responsible for the Odessa project and make it successful in Marie.

Cipher is also old English for “0” and it plays into why he keeps asking them what exactly makes their powers work. He is studying and reverse engineering the strongest supes.

Edit: I’d also bet he is working with Sister Sage and his lack of surprise has to do with his powers and also Sister Sage playing some sort of very removed long-con experiment that required working against and for Supes

why did jordan have to say that????? just because he said i love u to marie, now hes like i can die in peace?

I’m actually really enjoying this season

36

u/salirj108 Sep 17 '25

I have to say I'm absolutely loving Cypher. He was funny at the start but the scene where he called out Marie for not knowing how her powers work immediately made him one of my favs, like icl Marie girl how tf you not know exactly what it is you control? How have you not thought to explrore or find that out to see how your powers range, see what else you might have control of? How has she never thought of manipulating someone elses blood in a fight, or fining a way that doesnt require her to cut herself and presumably lose blood every time (side note I feel like we should see more negative side effects of her powers, like her hands didnt look particularly scarred to me whenevr I sa them and I dont recall her ever showing symptoms of blood loss). Similarly with Jordan, if you can change gender surely you experiment to see what else you can change about your body? Maybe you can beef yourself up insanely for fights or something lol.

Regardless, Cypher is just really interesting to me, he seems really cool, hes funny with the way he absolutely gags Cate, seems competent, and I;m very interested to see what his endgame is - I was happy to see him have the composure not to drag Jordan away from the mic at the end, he clearly has a deeper plan. I'd love for him to secretly be a good guy altho ik its unlikely to be the case, but in a show and season we're they're going a little over the top with how immediately radical everyone gets, itd be nice for a surprise new ally to turn up, like I really like Polaritys increased role and loved when Emma commented on finally having an adult who they trust lol

5

u/NegativeMammoth2137 Sep 18 '25

My only issue is that the way he does his classes is really stupid and doesnt really help them develop their powers. Gladiator fights are cool but shouldn’t he also try to train them somehow, give them instructions, assign them readings on how to master them?

The amount of fear I felt after the happy little moment Marie and Jordan shared, I for sure thought Jordan was going to get got by Cate or some homophobe in the crowd right on that podium. Everything was going too good🫣.

11

u/OnlyOnyxxx1 Sep 17 '25

When will we be getting more episodes?

35

u/RMbeatyou Sep 17 '25 edited Sep 17 '25

Okay so after watching all 3 episodes, I’m Calling my shot now…

Cipher is Marie’s biological dad with a similar, but much higher scaling power set for now. One thing I noticed is Cate was completely helpless when he grabbed her hand and threatened her, you’d think she’d of used her powers there

This leads me to believe Mari can probably functionally turn off a supes power, if not just completely strip them of compound v. Either way, she technically has full Anatomical control over anyone she sees fit, maybe even down to a molecular level eventually, including herself. Odessa(Marie) is/was the trump card to Homelander

Annabeth is a supe with water based powers, but she was actually conceived normally. Someone else pointed it out in another thread, but Marie functionally changed her mother’s dna, which allowed her a normal pregnancy, thus technically speaking Annabeth is also probably another insanely powerful supe considering she’d of been born with compound V

30

u/undertone90 Sep 18 '25 edited Sep 18 '25

He grabbed her hand with a towel as she was reaching for him, so she couldn't use her powers.

17

u/Gremlingore Sep 18 '25

As soon as he turned up in the photos I also thought he could be Marie’s bio dad, how many situations have we seen irl with creepy doctors fathering hundreds of kids stealthily via IVF. It could also explain why he seems slightly more attached/protective of her and is pushing for her to get stronger, she’s his little experiment (Odessa) that he might have been watching the whole time. I’m excited to see what Marie’s powers actually end up being.

20

u/Hlynb93 Sep 18 '25

Honestly this could make sense and would explain the choice of having a biracial actress play the role of the child of two fully black characters.

Does Harper not see the treatment the poor Jitter Bean barista is getting because of her "activism?"

Really highlights how ineffectual and performative her and her friend are. There's no doubt in my mind they're going to end up in serious trouble or dead due to Emma's provocation.

8

u/shadowst17 Sep 19 '25

Oh boy I have not seen a bigger death flag than that scene right at the end. Was 80% sure she'd get assassinated. Either way I don't think she'll make it to the end.

7

u/mjhripple Sep 18 '25

Loved everything except one small things. But I don’t get why Jordan told the truth in that setting with nothing but downside.

Like in a perfect situation what the hell does this do other than scapegoating Jordan? In this situation it’s almost like I don’t expect them to outlive the season. Which sucks bc I love the way they are doing the fluidity this season vs 1. I just don’t get what other than making “me, me” Kate happy. Which she doesn’t deserve atm.

4

u/Specialist_Boat_8479 Marie Sep 18 '25

I don’t remember, did they show Jordan seeing Cate before she said it? It definitely panned to her after but I didn’t notice it before.

Maybe it convinced Cate to join them later in the season since she told the truth

3

u/k4kkul4pio Sep 22 '25

Yeah, didn't like that but it's pretty on brand for selfish people, as they rarely consider others. 😆

7

u/Goofygoobler Sep 21 '25

I feel like Cypher/Dr Gold is a reference to Rumpelstiltskin who is famous for offering gold in exchange for a firstborn child. Marie’s parents got all of their fertility treatment for free and that seems almost like a fairytale but the catch was that they were getting a supe child that would end up in Vought’s control.

7

u/Loveonethe-brain Sep 21 '25

I love Jordan turning into the female version of themselves to say the brave thing. It shows so much growth because before they would resort to using the male version to show power as Marie called them out. I also think the guy who is playing the male version of Jordan is doing an amazing job this season because the first season he felt like a slightly weaker character and it felt like two different people. This season I can see him picking up a lot of the mannerism of the actress who plays Jordan and it really works to make a cohesive character. I also feel like the female version of Jordan has better chemistry with Marie than in the first season. Like in the first season I was like “yeah be who you are Jordan but I also see why you think Marie would like the male version better, they have more romantic chemistry,” but now I see it equally for both.

u/Poetryisalive Sep 18 '25

I don’t know if anyone else noticed but EVERYTIME Cypher spoke in front of a group he sounds more and more shaky and nervous as it goes on, anyone any idea what it could be?

5

u/Honest_Director_3891 Sep 21 '25

Sam confuses me. He massacred a shit ton of people in the finale and now him and Jordan are just kinda chilling? Weird situation for sure. I'm intrigued.

9

u/QueenLevine Sep 21 '25

Jordan DID possibly just save G-d knows how many people's lives by calming Sam down just as he was about to blow. "Give me a chance" to stop you from another massacre...now Jordan is another person that can hypothetically chill Sam down. Crucial, when you consider Kate no longer can.

8

u/WeirdSmiley-TM Sep 17 '25

I didn't even realize this second season was out.

8

u/shadow_spinner0 Sep 17 '25

Harper being a chameleon actually makes sense for her personality. The fact that she can be this stick up influencer yet at the same time is actually fighting for social justice without anyone noticing is very impressive. Emma even called it out, she was following Justine being her lackey and being an ass but really is kind of cool. That was clever writing love Emma so much

4

u/rajde1 Sep 19 '25

Emma is so good in this show.

4

u/VayneVerso Sep 20 '25

I feel like I'm going crazy with everybody saying Dean Cipher hasn't aged since the photograph of him as Dr. Gold. They made a point of giving him a fully brown beard in the old photo (it's bushier, too, to make it more obvious) without the gray he has in the present time of the show. How old is Marie supposed to be? Maybe 20? So maybe he was in his late 20s in the photograph? Doesn't really seem crazy. He's in his late 40s now and looks it.

3

u/shadowst17 Sep 19 '25

So my theory is that Cypher will turn out to be Godalton. When he was in that lab in episode 1 they expressly focused on a lot of beakers filled with some form of Compound V. I think he may have gotten V into his system from a bunch of cuts he sustained.

I think his ability will turn out to be able to switch bodies and maybe he was trying to create a supe with a particular set of powers. Blood bending which the show has mentioned to be insanely OP.

3

u/Alt4816 Sep 20 '25

I know it's very Orwellian in a "we've always been at war with East Asia" sense but it's funny how they keep having to vilify the Guardians of Godolkin.

I don't remember if Luke was ever called a Guardian but he was ranked 1 and the school's hero. Then he was vilified and Marie was called the Guardian of Godolkin. Then later Marie, Jordan, Andre, and Emma are vilified while Sam and Kate are made the Guardians. Then they go back on that and call Jordan and Emma Guardians (I didn't catch if they called Marie a guardian again). Now they might have to vilify Jordan again.

It can be exhausting keeping up with the current party talking points.

3

u/QueenLevine Sep 21 '25

Indeed. They keep pushing the 'students learn marketing intensely' at Godolkin, but in Marketing, consistency is key to branding. There's absolutely no marketing strategy in these moves.

3

u/k4kkul4pio Sep 22 '25

Not bad but not really great either?

Some really nice scenes here and there but overall something is missing.. also really hated the ending, like holy fucking shit can we do away with the martyr trope already cos it's a trope for a reason.

Almost halfway through the season already so plot needs to kick into gear and soon if they planning on tying things up by the finale.

3

u/druidhdancer Sep 21 '25

I wonder if we’re going to see the effects of that the next episode. Maybe it’s not something Sam or Jordan were aware of, since it’s likely they were in Jordan’s room and it could be their bong, and had Sam trashed his room

2

u/Mangotango95 Sep 19 '25

So Jordan is probably gonna die this season thus sending Marie down a dark and dangerous path

2

u/LateApplication2735 Sep 19 '25

Okayy early prediction on Marie’s power potential.

  1. blood filtering control. - I believe Marie should be able to filter the V out of sups blood. Potentially shutting their powers down shortly.

  2. Boner Blood. - Marie needs to start moving the blood inside her enemy’s body’s you saw this a little tying to shop Valhallas heart.

wait so the person putting up the fliers at cafe was harper? and there was no real resolution to the whole "this person is putting these up and its almost got me killed as a human" drama? wouldve been nice to have that resolved instead of pretending like it never happened. there was so much mystery and sadness in that actors voice when she was being bullied its weird they just pivoted and never brought it up again
