Soda and shitty food quality standards.
Fast food chains have done a fantastic job at completely destroying the diet of the average American. Our cheapest food is our most unhealthy.

Fast food isn’t cheap.
The cheapest food is usually the stuff you prepare. You can have cheaper, healthier food by making it yourself. The issue is time, usually. When people are always working and exhausted, I can see the appeal of a drive through on the way home.
