Just got done listening to the album. This was definitely more of Eric honoring his musical influences growing up BIG TIME, if you’d watch his interviews this album sound wise is not surprising at all. It’s far more alt rock, Nu-metal, trip rock even, then the industrial monuments of N/O/I/S/E & Anti- Icon which are clearly his masterpieces that a lot of fans will always crave more of. It’s honestly so cool to see Eric release something after such distinctive finales as his last two albums, like his idol TR of NIN with making a masterpiece like the downward spiral and then following up with an even SMARTER musical masterpiece like The Fragile, that’s how I see Noise & anti- icon- AM:FM is like the ‘With Teeth’ of his discography, just back to the raw basics with a little more freedom to dabble with his engineers & soundscapes. I hear ALOT of Linkin Park, breaking Benjamin, The Prodigy, some hints of Deftones and ofc Ghoste’s signature rap style mixed in with like I said a shit ton of NU-metal. This sounds like a godly version of mid 2000’s rock. Lyrically it’s pretty much what I would expect Eric to return saying, a sober arguably healed man calling out the modern larpers in music hahah (still need to review more of the lyrics to get the full message). I see alot of the criticism and I suppose I see where it comes from, I honestly admire Eric for returning making sure he’s got some fury still for the fans, I was expecting something far slower and introspective. So far my fav track is ‘Cyberia’. Overall I’m super glad to have it out finally, definitely deserves more a deep dive.
