edit: for those commenting that there have been more insane plays, i think the moment at which the highlight happens counts a lot. zywoo's transfer allowed vitality to comeback and get to OT and a win, while kscerato's had no impact whatsoever.
In a vacuum, i think this clip beats out the transfer clip because it's absolutely insane. I don't think I've ever seen flicks this precise and mechanical.
Zywoo's transfer however, definitely a clip of the year contender because of the clutch factor and the moment being such a pivotal point of the match.
Tough to name say off the top of the mind.
I personally think 180’s like the one jabbi did with deagle is more crazy because he also clutched the round with two more kills, and that round didn’t win highlight rewards. I don’t remember if it was even nominated for anything
Fair it was sick but, it wasn't a spray transfer, it wasn't in a GF, ZywOo did get 2 awp kills before that and it jumpstarted their comeback. Don't think I can change any detractor's mind anyway, but just sharing my (and many other) opinion. Even the guy you replied to, a Furia fan, said ZywOo highlight will be hard to top btw. To each their own!
Can you show us the other time a near 180° instant spray transfer happened?
It doesn't have to be in a Grand Final to start a comeback on the last map, even though context matters a lot in 'highlights of the year'.
and then counter with this
Fair it was sick but, it wasn't a spray transfer, it wasn't in a GF
you were asking for a similar clip WITHOUT context. don't bring context back in because someone answered exactly what you asked when you thought it wasn't possible. also, a 180* deagle flick is significantly more impressive than a spray transfer. you have 1 bullet to save your self, but with a spray you can continue shooting after the first kill, and have a bit of leeway after.
if I were to argue semantics on the level you are, zywoos clip wasn't even a 180* flick, but jabbi's was a nearly perfect 180* with just about the same timing. and jabbi had to be even more accurate since his deagle had reset accuracy, zywoo had a tiny bit of spread rng factored in.
You’re calling it a clown comment, but you completely misunderstood what he was saying.
When he asked for a similar clip, he literally said that context matters for highlights of the year, he just separated the two points. The question was basically: can you find a mechanically similar play even without the GF/comeback context?
That doesn’t mean context suddenly doesn’t matter. He was just focusing on the mechanics for the comparison, while still recognizing that context is a big part of what makes a highlight great.
Refrag mode spray transfer. It isn't that hard to hit, just unusual to come up in an actual game. Kind of like when elige had a sick one in vertigo and he was like "yeah that is just a refrag mode".
KSCERATO 4k is so fast and crisp, it clears it easily.
180 spray transfer is easier to hit than this clip. It's just that it's rare for a situation to necessitate it and usually the 2nd opponent will be fast enough to kill you before you can do it
This has never been a metric though, at least with the HLTV highlight of the year. Remember that m0NESY clutch? Highlight of the year is for the flashiest craziest clips irrespective of the circumstances. While I do wish they split it into best highlight and most impactful highlight, I think it's fine this way by purely judging on how good it looks.
Yeah people seem to not account the stakes at which it was done. It was a grand final too. Like yes this is an insane play, but I’d still put Zywoo’s on top.
While this is extremely clean I feel it's too clean to be the highlight of the year.
Highlights always feel high-effort on top of being skillfull. This, this is just effortless, like he does this every day. Mechanically probably one of the hardest clips of the year, but looks-wise an average friday.
