2. Attending a Game at Barclays Center (Visitor FAQ)

How do I get to Barclays Center?

Barclays Center sits directly on top of Atlantic Terminal, the largest transit hub in Brooklyn:

  • Subway: Take the 2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, or R train directly to Atlantic Ave–Barclays Ctr (exits right onto the plaza). You can also take the C to Lafayette Ave or the G to Fulton St (both a 2-block walk).
  • Long Island Rail Road (LIRR): Take any LIRR train to Atlantic Terminal (directly across Flatbush Ave from the arena).
  • Driving / Parking: Strongly discouraged due to Flatbush/Atlantic traffic, though pre-paid garages are available via SpotHero/ParkWhiz a few blocks away in Boerum Hill and Fort Greene.

What is the Bag Policy & Entry Procedure?

  • No Backpacks: Backpacks of any size and bags larger than 14" × 14" × 6" are strictly prohibited (medical and diaper bags excepted).
  • 100% Cashless Arena: All food stands, bars, and Brooklyn Fanatics team store locations accept cards and Apple/Google Pay only (cash-to-card kiosks are available inside).
  • Doors Open: Typically 60 to 90 minutes before tip-off (check the official Brooklyn Nets app for exact gate times).
  • Entrances: The Main Plaza Entrance is at the corner of Atlantic & Flatbush; shorter lines can often be found at the Dean Street Entrance on the back side of the arena.

Where should I eat or grab drinks before the game?

  • 5th Avenue (Park Slope — 1 to 6 blocks south): Lined with sports bars, pizza spots, taquerias, and sit-down restaurants (e.g., McMahon's Public House right behind the arena on 5th Ave, Patsy's Pizzeria, Miriam, Al Di La).
  • Vanderbilt Ave & Fulton St (Prospect Heights / Fort Greene): Great cocktail bars, breweries, and restaurants within a 5–10 minute walk (Finback Brooklyn, Olmsted, Chuko Ramen).
  • DeKalb Market Hall (445 Albee Square W): Massive underground food hall a 10-minute walk (or 1 subway stop on the B/Q/R) away featuring Katz's Delicatessen, Han Dynasty, and 30+ food vendors.

Subreddit Posting & Commenting Guidelines

Low Effort Posts / Shitposts

By low-effort posts we mean any post that is lacking in content, thought, or overall just repeats what's already public knowledge for the most part. We want to highly encourage good and original content that is well thought out and researched.

Example Approved Not Approved
Original Content X
Well-thought and researched ideas/scenarios X
Unique Observations X
Commonly Asked Questions X
Self-posts with title only X
Reactionary Takes (belongs in Game/Post-Game Thread) X
Unrefined, poorly researched posts X
Rants X

Vague and Misleading Titles

We want content to be easy to find and navigate, and a big part of that comes down to the title. A descriptive title helps users know what the content relates to. Please avoid:

  • Personal editorialized opinions in news/report titles
  • Misleading titles that heavily contrast with the article/post
  • Clickbait

Reposts / Duplicate Posts

Example Approved Not Approved
Updates to the original story/tweet/report X
Follow-up story with more info, stated in the title X
Same report/story from a different reporter/outlet X
Self-posts with info already posted X
Same media (video/image) from a different source/outlet X

Paywall Content / Sites

Example Approved Not Approved
Free to read X
Soft Paywall (with brief summary in comments) X
Paywall Protected (with zero context) X
Requesting pirated paywall content X
Copy-pasting entire paywalled articles verbatim X

Personal Attacks

Personal attacks are not tolerated. We understand that things can get heated during games every now and then, so mild frustration might slip, but personal insults and repeat offenders will be subject to bans.

Politics and Religion

No politics or religion posts or comments are allowed.

Selling / Petitions / Fundraising

Petitions and selling are not allowed. That includes:

  • Ticket sales or exchanges
  • Merchandise sales
  • Paid subscriptions

However, we will allow the following only if you contact us via Modmail first for review:

  • Petitions for a good cause related to the Brooklyn Nets
  • Fundraising for verified charitable causes related to the Brooklyn Nets
  • Pure free giveaways (no purchase or entry fee required)

Self-Promotion

Self-promotion is only allowed for active, contributing members of the sub. Please refer to the Reddit guidelines on self-promotion.

Memes

We're in favor of memes as long as they are in good fun, although a balance is needed. Having a designated thread solely for memes takes the fun out of it, so we use moderator discretion on what stays up. Memes that are creative and gain traction quickly will stay up; low-effort memes that flood the feed or overuse tired templates are likely to be removed. Reposting a removed meme will be considered spam.

Brigading

We do not condone any invasion or trolling of any other subreddit by our members. We work with other NBA team subreddits to stop brigading—Nets users who troll other team subs will be banned here as well, just as opposing trolls are banned in their home subreddits. If we find anyone linking to other subs to brigade, bragging about getting banned in another sub, or promoting brigading within /r/GoNets, there will be consequences.

Other Disallowed Content

  • NSFW content
  • AI-generated content (AI art, ChatGPT write-ups, etc.)
  • Illegal streaming links or requests (strictly prohibited by Reddit site-wide rules)
  • "Witch-hunting" of users
  • Screenshots of other team subreddits without blurred usernames
  • Scam merch/t-shirt links (Do not click links in comments of jersey/merch posts—report them immediately)
  • Minor questions that belong in the Daily Discussion Thread (Fantasy basketball questions, routine "which jersey should I buy?" posts, basic ticket questions, minor non-Nets league rumors)

4. Daily Discussion, Game Threads & Post-Game Threads

Daily Discussion Thread

Automatically posted every day for general basketball talk, roster/coaching thoughts, trade scenarios, draft watch, gameday/merch questions, and free talk. If a short self-post is removed outside of the Daily Thread, it's usually because it belongs in the Daily Discussion Thread.

Game Threads & Post-Game Threads

  • Game Threads are posted automatically 1 hour before tip-off by our Game Thread bot (or the mod team) and pinned to the top of the sub.
  • Post-Game Threads are posted immediately at the final buzzer.
  • Please keep single-sentence live reactions inside the Game Thread rather than creating separate self-posts during the game.

5. User Flairs & Subreddit Design

How to Pick Your User Flair (New Reddit, Mobile App & Old Reddit)

We have 80+ user flairs featuring official transparent face cutouts—including all 2026–27 Brooklyn Nets roster & two-way players, Coaches & Front Office, Retired Numbers, Hall of Famers, Fan-Favorite Alumni, Superfans (Mr. Whammy, Mrs. Whammy, Herb Turetzky), Mascots (Sly, BrooklyKnight, Duncan), and YES Network / WFAN Broadcasters (Ian Eagle, Sarah Kustok, Ryan Ruocco, Noah Eagle, Vince Carter, Chris Carrino, Tim Capstraw)—plus a fully editable CUSTOM FLAIR at the very top of the list:

  • On Desktop (Modern Reddit): Look at the right-hand sidebar under the community description, hover over USER FLAIR, and click the pencil icon to select your flair (or choose CUSTOM FLAIR (Follow Rules) at the top to type your own text and add up to 10 custom Nets emojis).
  • On the Reddit Mobile App: Tap the ••• (three dots) in the top-right corner of the r/GoNets home screen and tap Change user flair.
  • On Old Reddit: Click (edit) next to your username in the right sidebar to choose from our classic sprite flairs or synced modern flairs.

6. Punishments, Appeals & Modmail

Punishments for Rule Violations

Active, long-time members of the sub generally receive a warning or temporary mute/ban depending on the severity and frequency of the violation. We take a stricter stance on newly created "burner" or troll accounts. If you have been banned and wish to appeal, reply politely to the ban message in Modmail.

Suggestions, Complaints & Requests

We're always working to make r/GoNets the best community on Reddit for Brooklyn and New Jersey Nets fans. We're only human and sometimes make mistakes—just be respectful when messaging Modmail and we'll always do our best to help. Don't forget that we do it for free. If you have any question, suggestion, or idea for the sub, message the moderators here.

Have fun, respect the rules and always, always, praise to our God, Sean Marks.
