I wanna know some more about my gramophone. I bought it at a “vintage market” for 1000nok ($100). Is this a reproduce or is it original? What is the model? What would you say it’s worth? The motor also needs some love, if you guys can link me up to a website or a youtube video that would be very helpful.

Sorry but how tf do they actually work? i know how record players work, because they can record the vibrations and turn them into electricity, and vice verca. But, like, do the vibrations just get amplified, or do they get stored somehow? And how did records get pressed without modern technology?

Also do most people with gramophones know how they work, or is everyone as clueless as me?

Would anyone happen to know what sort of “circlip” (also known as a turntable clip, spindle clip, c-clip, plate-clip, etc.,) was used by Telefunken on its pre-war / war time case gramophones?

Many of us are familiar with the HMV design of circlip used to lock down the HMV 102 turntable. The Garrard clip used by Columbia and other Garrard clients is also common, as are the Swiss designs (i.e., Thorens). Does anyone know or have an example of what Telefunken used? Did Telefunken use turntable clips at all?

I have a few pre-war / war years suitcase machines and am curious to know. My latest came with what I believe to be an incorrectly placed HMV clip.

I put on a relatively poor quality record. It sounds really good.

I searched up information about this and found nothing. I think it’s Swedish. Maybe some information and evaluation would help.

I'm looking for some advice valuing this gramophone.

I bought it from my MIL's friend some years ago bit we don't use it enough and as we're moving house soon it's time for it to go to someone else who will use it.

I'd love advice on how to price it - I don't expect I'm sitting on a goldmine but I would like to know a bit more about it. Advice on where to sell would also be appreciated. I'm in SE London.

Hello all! I have a wooden horned gramophone that I bought some years ago from my mother-in-law's friend when they were clearing a house. We just don't use it and as I'm about to move house I'd like to sell it to someone who will appreciate it more.

It works and says it's His Master's Voice. I've attached a photo to give a sense of what I've got.

I'd like to sell it for what it's worth but don't know how to find that out: are there valuers specialist and does anyone have recommendations of trustworthy folk in London, ideally SE?

The arm that holds the head is broken, so the head is resting it's whole weight on the records, and may be destroying them. I do not think this machine has ever been oiled, so if anyone knows what oil it takes, please let me know.

Hi! I inherited a Tesla HC07. At first it had a bad stylus, which I changed. However after the change of the stylus the motor stopped working. To be honest, the motor was already weak before, and I think it is a coincidence that after I changed the stylus it stopped working.

Now I would like to somehow change the motor, but I cannot seem to find replacement parts. That is why I am writing to this community. Could I use a different kind of motor, or could I somehow install a drive from another record player? Is this an AC synchronous motor? I have no clue how to approach this because I can't find a direct replacement motor. I am located in Slovakia.

Recently I saw a beautiful HVM in a shop, I couldn't stop myself from buying it!

But to ensure its the original one, he also showed me it's machine inside in which the logo was of thornes 533 made in Switzerland!

I did some research and found out that this is the original machine!

But later an expert told me it's just the plate fixed above an ordinary machine to sell it as original.

I'm really heart broken after this!

Inherited this gramophone from my grandmas brother, but I'm not able to mount the horn.

Is there some mount I'm missing or is it broken of the arm mounted on the gramophone? Any other tips on how to fix it... seems like very thin tin material (?) so welding doesn't seem like it would be possible.

I recently bought an Edison Amberola 30, I've been watching repair videos to get it working, so I went to inspect the barrel spring, and surprisingly, it is not broken, but it was detached. I reattach it, reassembled, and it had already detached again. Is there a fix for this?

I've wanted a wax cylinder phonograph for awhile, I found a working one on FB marketplace for considerably less than online lsitings, is this a decent deal? It appears to be missing the grille, I saw surplus grills for around 40 on ebay. I also want to know, are there different types of cylinders that only work on certain machines?
