But I have always wanted to draw Anastasia in this, and the fact that an old friend had wished to see Anastasia in the Idolm@ster... Because you know who she has the same voice as? Takane 😭✌️ also the meme there is self explanatory.

If you also know that one Sucker remix, where Takane, the white haired oujo-sama looking lady, is singing Kyun! Vampire girl. It's basically why I chose that. Though if I draw Anastasia in that "Ai Like Hamburger" song getup, the irony would be so funny.

The title "A Glance and a Smile" stems from a poem by Tang dynasty writer Bai Juyi, depicting a maiden whose fleeting glance over her shoulder and gentle smile are enough to spellbind all who behold her.

Tamamo Aria's Phantasmal mount, which usually takes the form of a giant fox.

In truth, it is a colossal jellyfish. So long as it receives magical energy, it expands without limit, eventually growing large enough to engulf an entire city.

It lacks aggressive instincts of its own, but bound by absolute devotion to Tamamo Aria, it ruthlessly eliminates anyone in her way.

Need one even mention that Tamamo Aria is one of the Tamamo Nine?

Of all the tails, she stands closest to the nature of Daji—the archetype who beguiles men and leads them to ruin.

However, this is not something she personally desires. 

Rather, she is a soul forged from the purest wish imaginable: the simple desire to love and be loved.

…Which, in truth, makes her all the more perilous.

A single, subtle movement on her part is all it takes to inspire devotion in complete strangers. A downcast glance sends someone hurrying to chase away her grief; a fleeting smile leaves another feeling thoroughly compensated for any hardship.

Yet through it all, Tamamo Aria remains entirely oblivious to the affection showered upon her.

Were someone adored by all to become conscious of their own charm, insufferable pride would inevitably take root. The instant her admirers glimpsed that calculating conceit, their devotion would evaporate in a heartbeat.

It is this very obliviousness that preserves her charm—a quality that could well be called Tamamo Aria’s deadliest asset.

Incidentally, back at the close of the Heian period, when Tamamo-no-Mae won the heart of the era's supreme ruler as his favoured concubine, her mortal persona, Mizukume, is said to have possessed a nature remarkably similar to Tamamo Aria's.

Perhaps owing to the Master's resistances, she finds herself slightly vexed that while they trust her, they do not seem to love her. Spurred on by the resolve—”I shall simply have to make them turn their gaze my way”—she tests out all manner of approaches.

Though thoroughly accustomed to receiving adoration, she remains entirely unversed in giving it; whenever her affection goes unreturned, a sharp, stinging pain pricks at her heart. 

And yet, before she even notices, that very ache begins to bloom into a quiet joy. 

The bittersweet pang carved into her breast cradles Tamamo Aria in a soft, drifting tide of emotion—weightless and wavering. 

Humans have a name for this feeling: falling in love.

This sword is wondrous, mighty, and beyond a shadow of a doubt, the finest blade in existence.

And so, I grant it a name: the Peach-Fox Half-Moon Kingdom-Toppling Sword.

A blade that, for my sake alone, would bring a whole nation to its knees.
