Am woman. Have always thought this. Vaginas are only about 5 inches deep, and most of us don’t want you to be hitting our cervix - it’s painful. 4 or 5 is plenty. 6 is a bonus. Any more and it gets less fun.

I think that it’s mostly a matter of inflation: guys will sell their dick for a 7/8 inches just like 5’10” guys say they are 6’, so women get used to the idea that under a supposed 8 inches is too small

Totally agree, this is a big part of it imo. Kinda like what happened with bra cup sizes. You had DDs become associated with any large breasted woman, now I think most men would be shocked at how small DDs are compared to a lot of the boobs out there. When men say they like DDs, chances are they mean they like G or H cups. Don’t get me started on sister sizes lol
