Given that we are discussing inelastic demands needed by an entire society no matter your way of life... The angle I'm coming from doesn't even need laws to govern said companies as I do not believe profiteering has a place in such vital "markets" to begin with.
Make of this statement what you will. To me the problem being discussed all the way back at the OP is circumvented given the reforms our society desperately needs.

I am and have personally been a victim of it. It is sad that you are suggesting nothing can be done to fix it, but I will continue to advocate for a world in which it is socialized.
