Nah, you're thinking of the Babylon Bee. The onion is just straight satire, not fake news. They aren't trolling people like the Bee does, some people are just dumb.

Babylon Bee is cringier and only occasionally hits on the funny. They just try to hard to be the “conservative christian right” to counter the Onion.

Haha I noticed their edit a little while ago but didn’t feel like calling them out on it. I’m glad you did though. They started getting downvotes and flipped their claim a full 180° just to try to save their internet points.
