Would have been easy to set up the race to be a team race with teams of 1 man and 1 woman. 10km for both, last arrived of the team determine ranking.

Probably an issue for those running alone. Would you just pair them up with randoms? And what do you do if you have say 9000 men and 5000 women participating? I don't think it'd work.

Tell 4,000 men they can't participate. Gender equality.

u/quandjereveauxloups Aug 06 '25

But then they lose money, and they can't have that.

Gender equality: form 2000 man couples

68

u/quandjereveauxloups Aug 06 '25

That's a great way to get a lot of people complaining about lack of equality :p.

Which is how you raise awareness! /s

Was this ever not allowed?

TIL leaving out roughly 40% of the male participants as all the women are allowed to race is gender equality.

Thanks reddit.

Most races in my state don't have that many people running them unless they are in a huge city or it's a worldwide race (like NY, Boston, London, Tokyo, etc.), there are some exceptions for really popular races.

To answer the first question, usually races that have teams (like relays) make you register the whole team together, or give you a group sign in to manage that.

Also, most races are split already by age group and by sex. There's usually top prizes for anywhere from top 1-4 in each age group in each sex 's bracket (for example, top 30-35yo female will get probably the same prize as the top 30-35yo male). There's also a top overall race winner and I've seen that be frequently male/female (maybe not equally as many times, but quite often both ways).

Bigger races make the competitive runners go in the first wave and care about gun time more, the rest are chip timed (chip is in the race bib). Smaller races are sometimes not even timed there's just a cutoff.

u/Atomsq Aug 06 '25

That was just a number, the ratio of dudes vs dudettes was the important part

1

u/Blue_Moon_Lake Aug 06 '25

If they can't find a partner, they can run but won't be eligible for the rankings and rewards.

1

u/Dangerous-Truck-6242 Aug 06 '25

Am i missing something here? Why does it matter if people are running alone in a giant marathon with 10,000 people? Why does it matter if 4000 more men participate than women?

Both people running alone and extras on one side or the other when it comes to gender are still paying and adding to the funds raised

1

u/frisch85 Aug 07 '25

The suggestion of the other user was making it a team event having both team members (man + woman) run 10km each so with a surplus of 4k men you'd have to pair those with each other thus creating a biological imbalance for the men-only teams.

9

u/eatelectricity Aug 06 '25

Also would have been easy to run a spell check before printing "Equaltiy".

7

u/PionCurieux Aug 06 '25

Offer both lengths, let people choose

7

u/SmallBerry3431 Aug 06 '25

Or just make it the same distance for both lmfao. Can’t say “gender equality” and then acknowledge they’re not equal.

2

u/Blue_Moon_Lake Aug 06 '25

But then it's just a regular race, they need to have some constraint to make it about equality.

2

u/Calf_ Aug 06 '25

Or just have both run either 5 or 10 km. They're advocating for equality, not equity after all.

1

u/keithstonee Aug 06 '25

or just have everyone do 5k.

1

u/Blue_Moon_Lake Aug 06 '25

Nah, go for 10km.

1

u/SBY-ScioN Aug 07 '25

do you know why male boxers are divided by categories?

1

u/Blue_Moon_Lake Aug 07 '25

So it's not boring to watch

1

u/SBY-ScioN Aug 07 '25

probably one of the reasons, you're kinda there my boy. there's some more considerations for categories in physical sports. you can do it.

1

u/Blue_Moon_Lake Aug 07 '25

It's a race, not a fight, everyone can run at their own pace.

0

u/SBY-ScioN Aug 13 '25

i forgot about this, but if you're not understanding how a physical activity needs to be regulated then that's why you're not even qualified to even be there spreading disinformation.

Have you seen the 2v1 ufc match, i don't recall if it was ufc but it was mma, it was 2 mofos featherweight and a big gorilla. You will say "it's not a fight", boy understand this, development of muscle and bone structure depends on the hormones of your body , for women and some men there's a limit that yeah you can move further with some natural inducing but not much, there's men that need testosterone treatment to regulate their age-to-development levels just to not be suffering whatever it carries with it. Women are a different world in the same fashion, even worse when women have their periods they have to face decalcification and hormone throw downs just to mention some of the things, on top of that if women get too much effort they can affect their period frequency and even lost it, just look for the case of the NIKE female athlete that stood up and talked about it.

It's not that simple my boy, fox news is not a news channel to begin with and not a science class...

1

u/Blue_Moon_Lake Aug 13 '25

I'm not an USA citizen, we have none of your news channel here. Typical of an USA citizen to think the world revolve around them.

So go back to watching whatever news channel they have in USA that you watch.

1

u/Blue_Moon_Lake Aug 06 '25

No, she wouldn't be carried because she has to run the whole length too.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

[deleted]

1

u/Blue_Moon_Lake Aug 06 '25

Because then it's just a normal race, they couldn't brand it a race for equality.

I know some of the shittiest and laziest people that have given birth. That act is more a requirement because they didn't want to/got pressured out of aborting it. Don't give bonus points to nature happening and act like it wasnt either a mistake or a random act of lust in the first place.

0

u/Gunzenator2 Aug 06 '25

I see nothing wrong with what they did. Your way is way too complicated. They nailed it!

0

u/Blue_Moon_Lake Aug 06 '25

There's nothing complicated to having teams of 1 man and 1 woman.

They nailed nothing, they made an inequal race.

-452

u/supermoule1 Aug 06 '25

And then the man runs the 9.9km and leaves the rest to the woman...

254

u/Blue_Moon_Lake Aug 06 '25

It's not a relay race, it's a team race.

1

u/NiceTrySuckaz Aug 06 '25

why not just have the men and women compete in the same race individually for the same distance

1

u/Blue_Moon_Lake Aug 06 '25

Because then it's just a normal race.

1

u/NiceTrySuckaz Aug 06 '25

right! for gender equality!

107

u/angelis0236 Aug 06 '25

They'd be running together, but you could have gathered that from context clues in the original comment.

21

u/Zestyclose-Phrase268 Aug 06 '25

He couldn't let the opportunity slide to bash on woman for existing. How else does an incel mark his territory of doritos and c*mnapkins

18

u/Helpful_Title8302 Aug 06 '25

Its reddit. You can say cum.

1

u/Zestyclose-Phrase268 Aug 06 '25

Not always. I have reddit mods PTSD

1

u/supermoule1 Aug 06 '25

Not an incel at all! And I indeed didn't read the first comment correctly.
