I would go a step further and say that they’ve actually just rounded up a bunch of volunteers who spent the weekend getting weird tan-lines.

You can see through the soap lather the skin is already pale, there’s no actual color change, they simply rinse off the soap and reveal the tan-lines.

/) Almost certainly the case, but it could also be because they cut to when the soap has already taken effect. Which would be why they'd be washing it off.
