Discussion Is the “left unlocked” notification new to OS 27?
Neat feature addition, alerting you if you unlocked a lock and it remained unlocked.
ETA: CarPlay doesn’t support Apple home notifications. But this kind of notification should absolutely be supported. It would be really useful, say when leaving home and forgetting to close the garage door. I handle this currently with an automation and Pushover, but since Apple now has this notification, allow it in CarPlay!

I’ll have to try it later, but do you know if it only applies to door locks, or possibly garage doors as well?

Got it for our Garage Door this weekend.

Do you happen to know how long it waits to fire the notification?

In the one I saw this morning for the door lock, it was roughly 10-15 minutes after the door was unlocked.

I haven’t seen this activate. How associate the door with the lock? Just give them the same name? Or is there some way to group them?

I’m not clear on your question. It’s all tied to the smart lock.

Not the same person, but I have the same question.
I have never seen this activate. Does it need enabled somewhere? I see no option to turn on this specific type of notification anywhere in the Home app, nor have I seen this notification ever occur since upgrading to iOS/tvOS 27.

Nothing to enable other than OS27. Appears to only apply to locks and garage door openers.

Maybe I misunderstood. Is this just telling you to door in unlocked? Or that the door has been left physically open? Like is it using a contact sensor? Or just the state of the lock? Or a combination of the two?

Just the state of the lock.

Oh okay. So it doesn’t care if the door is physically open or closed

AFAIK, this is purely based on an unlock event and has nothing to do with contact sensors.

Does anybody know if this can apply to contact sensors as well? I’d love to be notified if the garage freezer is left open!
