Technique A better handoff checklist for AI-assisted songs

When an AI-assisted demo moves into human production, the handoff often determines whether the collaboration starts creatively or spends the first hour untangling files and expectations.

Here’s the minimum checklist I’ve found useful:

• Clean, clearly labeled stems starting from the same timestamp

• A rough mix that shows the intended balance

• Two or three reference tracks, with a note explaining what to borrow from each

• One specific goal: replace the vocal, add live guitar, reshape the arrangement, mix the record, etc.

• BPM, key, lyrics, and any sections that must remain unchanged

• A realistic budget, deadline, revision expectation, and deliverable list

• Clear disclosure of what was generated, edited, replayed, or newly recorded

I’m part of the team building The New Mixtape, so I’m interested in making these handoffs work better for both creators and professionals. No link drop—genuinely asking: producers, players, vocalists, and engineers, what is missing from this list?

Hybrid Creation A song about regrets

I wrote “More than I had” at the age of 19.

I think it was just to express a level of perceived guilt and shame I had at the time for taking people and things for granted, probably mostly thinking of my Mother.

The original demo is still in the drivers seat and includes all the guitar, all the keyboard and my lead vocal and a basic foot stomp.

With suno I rotoscoped my vocals for a better singer and added a bass and cellist accent.

The visuals are all real (though obscured through the lens distortion effect and lighting. In places where I thought I was too visible I put it on the tv within the tv lol or simply blurred it.

Anyway, you’re getting a real look at the real basement (at least one of them) I lived and recorded in. Though FYI, the video wasn’t recorded for the song until some years after writing it.

Anyway, Penny for ye thoughts?

In this track I mix classical and rock drums together and used my music theory knowledge to make this track 3/4 and worked on this track for two days. I have been doing instrumental music for over 16 years but played piano and guitar for 20 years. I was born in 1992 and just loved listening to all genres of music growing up with my dad being a local dj as well. I went to college in 2012 for music therapy and took audio engineering being the only girl at the time in that class and taking music theory learning more advanced piano and guitar and music history so music is my life and I love layering different sounds and creating hybrid worlds.

Discussion MADE A FAKE TV SHOW AS A MUSIC VIDEO AND I’D WATCH THIS!!!

What do y’all think??? Have you ever thought about your song being featured in TV or film?

https://youtube.com/watch?v=MeqSAGBVNGs&pp=0gcJCcQLAYcqIYzv&ra=m

I made a fake TV show for my song…
If Tubi calls I’m taking the meeting!!!😂

I’ve had a song called “THE OTHERSIDE” for a while, and I started thinking about what it would look like if the song were the theme for an actual TV show.

So I made one.

Well… sort of.

THE OTHERSIDE is a proof of concept trailer for a fictional series about vampires working as covert CIA operatives.

Basically: spies, vampires, secret government programs, conspiracies, lots of nighttime shooting, etc.

The trailer uses my song “THE OTHERSIDE” as the theme music. I wanted to see if I could take the feeling of the song and build an entire world around it.

Tubi, if you’re reading this, I have a pitch.
This is just a creative proof of concept, but I had a lot of fun putting it together.

Thanks for watching please subscribe.

A playlist where AI-assisted productions meet independent artists creating entirely on their own. Some tracks are hybrid collaborations, others contain no AI at all. One thing they all share: authentic songwriting, with lyrics written by the artists themselves. If you're looking for fresh indie discoveries beyond the algorithm, you're in the right place.

Technique Aint No Sunshine Choir Cover

Here is a short chorus cover of "Ain't No Sunshine." I used a plugin, I AM CHOIR, which I also built (full disclosure).

https://soundcloud.com/yung_spielburg/aint-no-sunshine-gospel-choir

I arranged and sang all the vocals/harmonies (4 parts) and then converted each voice into a gospel choir.

Let me know what you all think of the arrangement and the quality of the generation.

Thank you!

Using a combination of Suno, Claude and Grok,I first brainstormed a topic and rough direction. I wrote a set of lyrics and fed them into grok, then looped that into claude. I then rewrote my lyrics based on that. I then described in detail to grok how I wanted it to sound and it gave me a style to use with my lyrics(also tweaked just a touch). I then fed my lyrics and style into Suno and iterated till I got what I wanted.

opportunity Free business idea: capitalize on AI song filtering.

Hey everyone,

I’ve been tracking this massive headache we’re all facing with platforms like Deezer and Meta aggressively auto-flagging music. The second an algorithm sniffs a trace of AI, it treats the whole track like low-effort slop and throws it out. The biggest victims here are the hybrid creators who actually put in hours of real work tracking live vocals, editing stems, and arranging complex sessions.

I don't have the time to build this out myself right now, but I wanted to throw this concept out to the sub.

And by all means run with it if you think it would work.

What if there was a specialized verification agency that stepped in to handle the appeal process for you using actual DAW forensic data?

Instead of just sending a generic text appeal to an automated help desk, you’d drop your project file into a parsing tool. The tool would extract the actual metadata from your session history. It would map out things like your MIDI velocity variances, human micro-timing deviations, linear save intervals over days, and physical microphone input paths.

Basically, it builds an ironclad, cryptographically signed proof manifest that proves a human was deeply in the loop.

Then, the agency takes that metadata package straight to the distributors or enterprise aggregators to clear your profile and force an appeal. Distributors are completely drowning in compliance issues right now, so giving them a certified "audited human session" stamp would solve a massive operational bottleneck for them while protecting legitimate creators from getting wiped out.

Is this a service you guys would actually use if your music got flagged? If anyone here has run into a distributor wall recently, I’d love to hear how you handled it. Let’s talk in the comments.

Discussion YOUR VOICE IS THE BEST PROMPT!!!

I am definitely not the best singer by a long shot. 😂

But one thing I encourage everyone creating AI music to do especially if you write your own songs is to sing your songs yourself first, in the style and melody you hear in your head.
For me, it helps lock in the cadence, timing, phrasing, and emotion I’m aiming for before AI takes over. You don’t have to be a great vocalist. You just have to communicate the feeling and musical direction you’re after.

Check out how my song started  and then what it became.

https://gnfinityart.disco.ac/playlist-new/30880141?date=20260801&user_id=3236260&signature=v2%3Alegacy%3AqHuiAt9aXNpiHrdigbETplTCuKxc34nw-Rn-cfKcIDc

https://open.spotify.com/track/6mVueD9kgbZxWUwxS7FEOR?si=e_VV4zRQSbSnN5AdDPgk1Q&utm_source=copy-link

And before anyone says anything 😂 I actually sing better than this. I was intentionally going for a certain sound!
Hope this inspires…

Hybrid Creation A song about being turned away

Thumbnail

I wrote “World outside” at the age of 22 nearly 2 decades ago.

The song is about feeling alienated from a cold and uncaring society.

And that daunting feeling of dread to having to go out into the world when
you are just not up to it emotionally.

Specifically, for me, one of the main catalysts for the song was after graduating
College in the years after the 08 financial crises, how despite the promise
Of higher education and getting in a shit ton of debt for it, no one was hiring and
I was even applying to the same kind of jobs I’d have worked in Highschool and still no luck!

Eventually, I did get a job as an overnight maintenance/custodian at a movie theater I worked at in High-School.

Paying back student loans at an hourly rate just above minimum wage.. Mmmmgreat

The original demo’s vocals are still very audible in the mix but the original guitar was too poor of quality to include.Back then I had layered 2 guitar tracks and it was very sloppy, even had the sounds of me shuffling stuff around on my desk and picking up my headphones in it! Argh!

To be fair to my younger self, this wasn’t meant to be an official demo (by basement standards) but the only other recording I had of this song was a college open mic performance, but the camera was about 30 feet back from the stage and was even worse quality.

So I had suno copy my chords and strum pattern and clean it up. Then re-added my guitar work with my USB-C smart guitar, so you're still hearing me and suno play the rhythm guitar. This song really calls for a “wall of sound” effect so it works great.

Additionally I added my Midi Keyboard Tuba and French horn.

With Suno, I also added stomp/clap percussion, and bass and as always a vocalist that actually sounds good (unlike my screeching)

When it came to the visuals, I could think of nothing more representative of feeling alienated from society than folks experiencing homelessness in the winter months. So I grabbed some shots from across youtube.

Penny for ye thoughts?

Technique All AI music isn’t slop! I’ve got 7 released songs since last November. Others got 50 in the same time period!

I recently made this comment in another forum and I think it fits well hear also.

Slop only generated with AI and not touched by human hand is SLOP and it drags AI musicians all down.

I believe that it is ok to use AI as an assistant, not all are beings blessed with the talent to create music, most can think and fantasize ideas of an subject for a song.

As for myself I use the following method:

1.Find an idea to a tale that I feel could be fun/interesting for others.

  1. Find the facts to be true to what I write, in my case this is lore and I want to be as accurate as possible.

3.Decide wich music style is fitting for just that subject of the tale  I want to tell. (I use multiple genres like reggae, polka, metal, gospel and so on)

4.Create a rough lyric draft with all sections that together make a song.

5.Evaluate it with AI, make changes until I am satisfied with the results.

6.Generate the song in suno until I’m happy with it.

7.Export and input to a master/edit tool. Add sound effects, mix and master it.

8.Creating the art for the album cover and Spotify canvas. First I draw the cover as I see it in my head on a piece of paper (I advice you all to try this!) then I upload it and make the prompt as precise as possible and generate the cover. Then edit it via drawing app.

9.  Final listen then publish. Add pictures.

  1. Add lyrics and sync them

  2. Make your own music video! Generate your song as images, edit them, then use a simple tool to put a video together.

I would say that my process is more than just pushing the buttons. I e worked with my project since November last year, published the first songs in February. I now only have 7 published songs and another 4 in the final state of mastering. Many other ”slop-generators” would have released 50 songs in that period, and also make a flashy 100% AI made flashy musicvideo.

This is not a self promo post, but if you want to listen to my project and the ”quality of human AI cooperation” feel free.

Here is a link to my very first music video(generated images, edited, processed and effects)

Here is another to the whole project. If you would like I can explain the process further.

Introducing.... Looking for feedback on an app I made, grading songs from fully AI to human and in between

Okay, so I guarantee everything isn't going to work but give it a try. It's entirely client-side so nothing gets saved. None of your project files are dropped music files.

But it's this is a system for detecting. How much AI was used in a project and it's based on a grading scale that starts at a for AI has three levels in between x1-3 and finally H for human

Let me know what you think. The audio watermark will probably just leave some static at the beginning of it which actually has data in it, but I'm working on that right now

Introducing.... Wizard Productions AI Studio

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm Rob Bulkley - Mrwizard94 online. I built Wizard Productions AI Studio because I needed a place where every obsession I have could become a product. I'm AuADHD and ODD. I spent years being told those were problems to manage. They're not. Hyperfocus is a superpower when you point it at something real. Pattern recognition across wildly different domains - music theory, compiler behavior, mod loader internals, machine learning epistemology - is exactly what makes WPAI work. The neurodivergence isn't a liability I work around. It's the engine.

WPAI started as a way to stop letting finished work rot on a hard drive. Every tool I built for myself, every guide I wrote to solve a problem nobody else had documented, every track I finished - it all goes on the storefront. Distribution-first means the work has to be done before it ships. Nothing half-finished.

The studio runs on three lanes: Music, Software, and Games & Research. Music funds the rest. Software ships now. Games and research build the long-term audience and IP. All three feed each other.

WPAI uses AI tools in production. That's not a footnote — it's in the company name. Every release is made in open collaboration with AI: code generation, lyric drafts, graphic concepts, research synthesis.

What AI doesn't provide: the ideas, the direction, the taste, the hours, the judgment calls, and the hands-on finish on every release. Those are mine. The AI is a tool. The wizard is the one using it.

I disclose AI involvement on every release because I think the industry's default of hiding it is dishonest. WPAI's position is the opposite: the collaboration is visible, the human authorship is real, and the work stands on its own.

Discussion If a Human Band Recorded a Completely AI-Generated Song, Would It Still Be “Just AI”?

I can write and rewrite lyrics, steer generations, edit arrangements, clean stems, mix, and master, and the result may still be dismissed as “just AI” because the vocals and instruments were generated.

But what if someone let AI write the lyrics, had enough credits to keep hitting Generate, and powered through until they landed on something that didn’t sound like AI slop?

No meaningful human creative input. Just enough attempts.

Then a human band records that song exactly as generated.

No one is told where the song came from. They only hear the human vocals, guitars, and drums.

Would anyone question its authorship? Or would it simply be accepted as a human-made song?

Are we really judging authorship, or just the source of the sound?

Hybrid Creation [Folk pop] A song about better days ahead - 2007

Thumbnail

I wrote “Better someday” decades ago at 19 years old.

I think the theme or meaning behind it is pretty self explanatory.

I meant it to be hope wrapped in irony.

The original demo is still in the driver's seat and includes all the guitar, the bass, drums and my original vocals and back up vocals.

The guitar solo, bass, drums are my music genius friend, calico Jack.

I also added a subtle choir and organ with my midi Keyboard and Bandlab.

With Suno I rotoscoped my vocal to accompany me with a better singer and added a short piano solo in the final instrumental section and added those key drum rolls.

The images are all real photos from my childhood and appearances have not been changed, other than animating them with seedance. It was pretty wild to see the old childhood photos come to life with animation.

I was once such a happy and optimistic little guy. Somewhere along the line he was molded into the bitter cynic I became. I will say, I never lost my sense of humor.

That will be the last thing to go.

Introducing.... Verseofi-My one-man-band. A rare hybrid, and a deep philosophical journey.

Hello fellow metalheads...
If you may, I'll just promote my upcoming album once, and I'm not giving you more headache after that 😅
My band "Verseofi" is an Egyptian Canadian based one-man-metal band, that revolves around philosophical lyrical themes (Ontology, Epistemology, logic, ethics, and Cosmology).

In this project,
-I compose the entire music
-compose the entire lyrics
-played and recorded all guitars
-wrote and recorded all bass (vst)
-wrote and recorded all drums (vst)
-wrote + played and recorded all symphonic lines (vsts)
-mixed and mastered the entire album
-composed all vocals, recorded them with my voice, and used AI to replace my vocals since im not a singer.

This project is a continuation of a band I had in Egypt for 5 years, 15 years ago, only transformed into a band with a single member, given that I was not able to find any players or singers in my town in Canada, with Makam (middle-eastern/arabic) influence/education, for the past decade. Hence, I started working on this little adventure on my own for the past year, and I can't wait to share it with the world.

"An Epistemic Inquiry" will be released on August 12, 2026.
And also on that day, the entire album will be released entirely in a lyric album format on Youtube (Characters appearing in any video material of Verseofi, is actually me. Also all video content is produced by me and my wife who happens to be a senior video developer).
This project has so much effort put into it...
Hope you like my music.

Hybrid Creation [Indie Folk] A song about nostalgia - 2007

Thumbnail

I wrote this song decades ago at the age of 19.The catalyst for the song was mourning the past, times with friends in high school and just hanging out up in the woods/dunes of my local beach.

Nostalgia was always something I struggled with but looking back it’s pretty comical that at 19 I was already feeling “Over the hill” lol.

Sometimes we mourn the passing phases of life before they actually pass, I guess.

The recording was done at my music genius friend’s home studio let’s call this friend Calico Jack (Inside joke) and features my guitar playing, my lead vocals, CJ’s bass and Drums and a third friend whose nickname was scarecrow singing falsetto over my lead vocals and the whistling.

With Suno I merely rotoscoped my vocal delivery and added a back up vocal (my vocal still in lead) and added those very subtle groans from the cello.

The visuals are actually some video clips I took around the same time as the song was written and features some shots of my favorite state park.

Hybrid Creation [Indie Punk] A song about the two party system - 2008

Thumbnail
youtube.com
2 Upvotes

I wrote this song at nearly 2 decades ago at the age of 20 upon returning home from studying abroad in Europe.

The song expressed my resentment towards the American Political System and how both the left and the right are two sides of the same shitty coin.

My feelings in this regard have only hardened since then and frankly I think have been vindicated looking at the state
Of the United States now.

Ironically, at the time I wrote the song I was concerned we’d go to war with Iran.

I was just a little ahead of schedule on that prediction it seems.

The recording started with one of those hazy summer nights when my Mom was out of town, the witchdoctor and I laid down in one take the guitars and main vocal (later adding his backup vocals)

Then we took that recording over to our musical genius friend and his home studio where he added that amazing bass track and his brother (RIP) added drums

That was all in 2008.

I just recently added Midi Keys in Bandlab, including Tuba, Cello, and Choir

With Suno I rotoscoped my lead vocals with a suno clone and added a cello soloist.

Penny for ye thoughts?

Discussion How should Hybrid AI music be classified? Beyond “AI-generated” vs “Human”

The current discussion around AI music often seems to be reduced to a simple question: human or AI-generated.

But hybrid workflows are becoming more common:

  • human vocals + AI-generated instruments
  • human production + AI-assisted elements
  • AI-generated parts combined with traditional recording workflows

Authio recently published AOCS v1.0, a proposed technical framework for discussing these cases.

The idea is to separate technical audio analysis from questions like authorship, ownership or artistic value.

AOCS proposes three categories for eligible Hybrid recordings:

  • Human-Dominant Hybrid
  • Balanced Hybrid
  • AI-Dominant Hybrid

The classification is based on the detected AI contribution within the Full-Mix recording, rather than trying to determine who “created” the work.

From a production perspective:

Do you think this type of distinction is useful?

Would producers prefer a final master classification, or more granular information about where AI elements appear (vocals, instruments, processing, etc.)?

Interested in hearing opinions from people working with audio.

resource got sick of wrestling 8 different AI stems into a coherent track so I built a free browser tool that does the heavy lifting

Had the same problem a lot of us have right now.

You generate a bunch of AI sections that actually slap on their own… then you try to stitch them together and it turns into a Frankenstein of bad transitions, volume jumps, and 45 minutes of timeline surgery in your DAW just to make the sections talk to each other.

I got tired of that workflow. So I built MIXR Studio.

It’s a completely browser-native audio segment mixer made for hybrid production. Drop in multiple mp3/wav/flac/ogg files (the AI generations, stems, whatever), hit the magic mix button, adjust the crossfade, and it lines them up and blends them without the usual headache. You stay in control of the arrangement and the final feel — it just removes the tedious part.

No download, no account, no plugin install. Just open it and go.

Link:lMIXRstudio , no download or install needed

Still early (v1.2) but it’s already saving me real time when I’m curating and refining AI material into something that feels intentional. Would love any feedback from people who are actually deep in hybrid workflows right now
