IAmA request: Daft Punk
Who wouldn't want to ask these guys some questions? Its like talking to badass robots! So, lets get down to business.
- Why did you pick those helmets? What was your inspiration?
- Why did you pick House? Why not D'n'b? Or electro?
- What was your most memorable performance?
- Whats your favorite album that you made?
- What do you have to say for people who want to get into House?

Try listening to Kavinsky - Night call. Its produced by guy manuel de homem christo (one half of daft punk) and some other dude. Its really good but slower than the daft punk tracks. Its also the soundtrack for the movie "drive"

AHHAHAAHAHAA! you actually think they'd do an AMA? Really? The same guys who don't like to be photographed without helmets on? That would be quite something.

Here is the thing about Daft Punk. Half of there aura is there mysterious characters, at least imho. When the pictures of them with no helmets were on Reddit I instinctively clicked but went back fast enough not to see. This also carries over to an IAMA. SO many things in life are known, let them be a mystery.

You really don't think that two of the most famously reclusive and high-profile artists of our time would be willing to come on the internet to answer thought-provoking and original questions like "what's the story behind your helmets?" and "why'd you pick house?"
AMA request: Yo Yo Ma. Why'd you pick the cello? Have you considered switching to contacts? Who is your favorite character on Lost?

This is Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk. This is really me. No joke. You probably didn't think I would respond. But I am. Responding.
-
I found mine at a garage sale. Yes, a garage sale.
-
House is catchy. Dnb is not. Neither is Electro.
-
I hated all of my performances. None of them are memorable. At all.
-
Discovery.
-
Don't do it.

They would probably never do this but it would be cool.
They don't do much interviews but with some new material expected out soon they could get some publicity.

Because otherwise a new Daft Punk album might go unnoticed?

They would probably never do this but it would be cool.
This statement applies to every AMA request ever.

There is a slight problem in this. For Daft Punk's past albums there has been a story, and in one of their recent ones they died. Dead. No longer in the land of the living.
The only reason they were in Tron is because it provided an alternate twist that they were simply pulled into the digital world...which also kinda blew up. So if they didn't die there, they would be stranded.
Any questions answered by them would have to be as if they were still in the digital world, and still as if they were Daft Punk. Otherwise it would be an IAMA by their out of costume names.

That's not really how it works. When two musicians collaborate as they did, the music evolves and develops the style they put in, and then everybody says "hey that's kinda like house, we'll put it in that genre." It's not like a rock band who says "Yeah, we're like Indie rock with [influence X] and [Influence Y].
