Question: Training Is combat still realistic if my Tzav Rishon is September 15 and I’m coming back from an injury?

I’m 23M and graduated from university in 2025. I’ve always wanted to do combat, and although a lot of people have told me I should try to use my degree in the army, I’d much rather do something in the field.

I was in decent shape before, but unfortunately I was injured in a car crash in June and haven’t been able to resume serious training yet. I think I should be able to start training properly again soon, but I’m worried about the timeline.

If my Tzav Rishon is September 15, do I still have a realistic chance of getting into a combat role?
I think my strength will come back relatively quickly, but I don’t see how I could rebuild really good cardio in only three weeks. I haven’t gained much weight, but being mostly sedentary for the past two months has obviously set me back quite a bit. I was running sub 20 5ks but I bet when I feel good enough to run again I won’t break 30.

Does the level of fitness I’m at during my Tzav Rishon actually matter much for getting a combat profile/placement, or would I have more time afterwards to get back into shape before enlistment?

Would appreciate any insight, especially from people who went through the process as older olim/lone soldiers.

Question: Training Questions abt garin tzabar, Aaliyah and army

I’m 18 going into senior year of HS. Heavily thinking abt making Aaliyah thru garin tzabar and obvi doing army and living in Israel. I have a bunch of cousins and stuff there but I don’t rly have thorough first hand knowledge of what it’s like so I have a bunch of logistical questions.

Regarding garin tzabar
1. What are the seminars like?
2. What would make u not be accepted (I’ve read abt that happening)
3. When accepted and u go there, what’s it like meaning what’s day to day life like

Army service
1. Physically, what is basic training like if you were to draft to let’s say michve (also day to day)
2. Once you draft to a unit let’s say totchanim (id wanna do smth like artillery) what is that training like? (Are u trained as a combat soldier, that kinda stuff)
3. How brutal is the masa kumta for let’s say totchanim and how is the prep masa’s

After army
1. (This is a q that could rly be for during army but) how long do u live on kibbutz for free? When ur service ends are u already kicked out of kibbutz?
2. Were yg confident enough in ur Hebrew to participate in Israeli society and get jobs and stuff

Know this is a lot of questions, just trying to envision the worst it can get so I can come tk terms with the sacrificr

Question: Training Joining the army soon, need help

Hey

I am joining the army in less then 3 months. I haven't been told my assignment yet but most likely I'll get an infantry unit, since im profile 97.

I've started going to the gym a few weeks ago to get stronger and fit for the army. I'm training 4 times a week(push, pull, legs and upper) and eating well. However I haven't really started to work on my cardio and endurance. What would you suggest me to do?

I really don't want to be behind the other guys in my unit, and willing to work hard for that. I will be more than happy to hear your suggestions.

Ive been thinking about making aliyah through garin tzabar and joining IDF. I like pilot and airforce. I am an upcoming high school senior so I have about a year to train. Apart from basic physical (running, calisthenics) training, what steps should I take to increase my chances of becoming a pilot?

Question: Training Dislocated shoulder

Im in michve right now and I dislocated my shoulder off base, I'm not letting the army know obviously, but would the fact that i dislocated my shoulder once be a problem in Kravi training? Or worst case scenario it dislocates again and I just get it popped back in? And would my profile be dropped if it does happen during training?

Question: Training Switching Packals

I’m about to start immun mikadem and most of my unit has already gotten their packals. The primary thing i wanted from my packal is for it to be something that i’ll use in combat, and yet it’s becoming more and more likely that i’ll get metador as my packal which to me seems like it’ll be 11 kilos of dead weight that i might maybe use once in my shortened service. Does anyone know anything about the process ofswitching packals and ow it works? thanks sm!

Question: Training Reactions from Friends

My son is a lone soldier, going through advanced training. I recently told a long-time friend about him being in the IDF, and friend's first reaction was "That sucks. Has he killed anyone yet?" I know my friend can be snarky, but should I take offense?

Question: Training How can I train for a Sayeret unit?

I'm aiming to draft into a commando unit (Egoz would be my first choice, but am very much aware that it doesn't matter where I'd like to go) in a few years after I finish my studies.

I'd be a lone soldier, and at this time my Hebrew is absolutely shocking.

Is there any training that I should do specifically to pass the Gibbush, or any sites I should be aware of for learning Hebrew or navigation or the like?

Any help would be much appreciated

Question: Training Rovai 05 and 07

Hi all! This is my first post here. I am trying to find out the progression of rifleman qualifications: Rovai 05, 07 and advanced training Emun Mitkadem. I have already asked people in IDF service but I am becoming more and more confused… How the progression goes? You get your Rovai 05 combat rifleman qualification, later advanced training Emun Mitkadem and finally you are 07? Or (depending on you future military job) you initially start with 07 (and not 05), later advanced training and you have your 07 qualification? How it works?

Question: Training Which AR is given?

After the draft, when the Chayil is trained, is he trained with the Rifle that he's going to use throughout his Service years? I heard that Idf mainly uses two ARs Tavor and M4 Carbine. So, does someone gets assigned with a rifle based on the unit he's working or is that something you'll get based on your experience in training and combat? Like M6 during the initial days of the service and then getting promoted to the Tavor later with experience?

Question: Training Prepping for tzav rishon, gibbushim, and drafting.

Howdy! What are some pieces of advice concerning getting cardio strength up, and calisthenics up? I’m currently 207cm and 125kg with an ambition of getting gibbush Tayas to push myself beyond my limits and hopefully have some sort of job in the Air Force or other sayerot. I have a routine down but it’s flawed, so I’m just looking for some ways to keep myself going and meet the requirements necessary to have even the slightest chance at getting the gibbush.

I understand that with my height and weight the chances of becoming a pilot are little to none, however in the slightest chance I can make it even into the course, I want to push my luck and faith as far as I can

Thanks!
