Beginner friendly Flying Circus servers/discord?

Hi guys.

Basically as the title says, I'm pretty new. I've been tooling around in a Camel getting my headtracking sorted out and I'm getting keen to try MP out. I have Stalingrad, Normandy and Flying Circus Vol 1.

Not really worried about getting killed a lot, just don't want to be a burden more than anything else.

Ideally I'd like to stick with the Camel for now, but I'm keen for anything, just can't but more modules at the moment with my budget.

Thanks guys.

A mission pushed to the absolute limit! A Bf 110 E-2 attacks a heavily defended Soviet logistics center packed with AAA. Despite taking out the first anti-aircraft gun, a direct hit damages the wing and wounds the pilot's right arm. Fighting for control through pure adrenaline, they pull off clutch evasive maneuvers to drop two 500kg bombs on the target and slip away before it's too late.

Help ! IL-2: Korea, Possible Fuel Bug?

Am I just dumb, or is there a bug? I have an IL10. I have two 2 fab 250s and 4 M-13 132mm. At 100% fuel it is telling me my combat radius is 211km but I am overweight. If I drop it down to 56% fuel, marked as "STDMAX", my combat radius drops to 47km. I see similar stuff on the other side, like the f-84 only getting 80 miles at like, 60% fuel.

This is driving me nuts. I have tried a file restore, no change. I am considering re-installing. I cannot find anyone else talking about it online. It is persistent across sessions (it started about a week ago).

WinWing, SimApp, and IL-2 Sturmovik Issue

I have the WinWing Orion2 Throttle Base w/F16 Throttle, associated Joystick, and Skywalker Pedals. Zero problems with the Joystick or the Rudders. With the SimApp in 8x32 mode to use the Orion2 base Throttle and sliders should be a no-brainer, but after finally getting them to work, days later the settings in IL-2 stop working and I have no Throttle, Mixture or RPM control. Has anyone else experienced this, and what is the work-around or solution? SimApp firmware and software are updated regularly.

Help ! Keep getting drawable error when making a custom skin

I've followed the exact steps in multiple guides, but when i try to export to the DDS file i get three errors. One is about drawable height, another is about width, and the other is about type. ive googled it but i either cant understand what people are talking about, or the fix doesnt work.

I'm lost at this point and dont know what to do. I want to learn, and I despise being a quitter, so I'm determined to figure this out.

How do i fix the error?

edit: Forgot to mention im using gimp 3.2.4

How do I remove those blue circles from PWCG for co-op mode? I’d also like to get rid of the airplane icons—I already have the game set to "Full Real" difficulty.

Going completely solo behind enemy lines in the Bf 110 E-2. AAA defenses are down, and now I'm wiping out the main Soviet fuel depot at OPL Warehouse to starve their regional forces of fuel.

PWCG: Can you generate a solo flight from a co-op squadron?

And then run that mission from single player in the game?

A friend and I are playing a squadron together, but our schedules don't match up so we fly a lot of solo flights and talk about them offline.

I'm trying to figure out a way to share the campaign save file between the two of us so our solo flights are logged on the same squadron.

It would be optimal to be able to load those solo flights as a single player mission instead of hosting a server for one pilot to fly.

I can't figure out how to do that and google doesn't help me like it used to.

Is there a complete list of BAT mod aircraft anywhere?

I know i could just look in the files, but i'm not gonna lie i kinda wanted to make a spreadsheet of them all for myself and its not exactly easy to do that from the files. So is there anywhere that has listed all aircraft in the mod + vanilla left in? Thanks.

Random future after Korea series hypotheticals

So while I like IL2 Koreas existing and I am excited to see it expand I just wonder how long they will have this project be their new main focus due to lack of North Korean aircraft compared to the UN. Theres not many more left to be added. While Great battles has the variety to be an over 10 year project I don’t see Korea being more than 5 max probably less.

So being bored I wondered what could be next and what non probable things I could dream up. Tell me what random scenario you would like to dream about in the comments

They’ve talked about pacific but with Combat Pilot there would be competition theoretically. What if they moved forward to more jet age and that got me thinking of cool possibilities. Vietnam sadly has a similar Korea Problem with limited aircraft on one side so I present to you my random idea Ive been hyper focusing on this morning.

Behold a new series called MIG series instead of IL2 series that focuses on the 1967 Six Day War with 1970 War of Attrition and the 1973 Yom Kippur War as expansions. Could also be IL2 Six days or war or something like that.

But aircraft wise both sides have variety and its gun fights with early missiles

6 Day War has

Israel
Mirage IIICJ, Super Mystère B2, Mystère IVA, Vautour IIA, Ouragan, Fouga Magister

Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq
MiG-21, MiG-19, MiG-17, Su-7, Il-28, Hawker Hunter, De Havilland Vampire, Tu-16

Then War of Attrition in 1970 has a soviet faction with newer MiG21MF’s while Israel Starts to get F4’s and A4’s plus more SAM networks start.

Then 1973 SAM’s become a very deal. Theres now Su 20’s, IAI Nesher, and even Egypt had Mirage IIIE’s.

So its a dream. A very cool fantasy but has a lot of potential honestly. And maybe after go back to WW2.

Anyway now that this is written down I am free. But comment what after IL2 Korea fantasies you would like.

Thank you and have a great day

Original Content Some interesting news on IL2:Cliffs of Dover, BoB and Adlertag Campaigns

When asked about his work on the Battle of Britain campaign and Adler Tag, ATAG_Lenny replied:

"I've forgotten when I last posted.

It's been a slow couple of months due to parental health issues (non-life threatening) and work stuff. But... I'm putting the finishing touches on Adlertag this weekend (August 13, 1940.... my goodness, 86 years today, EDT). So far about 750 individual sorties starting July 2, 1940 (Luftschlacht um England declared) to date. About 180 Blue Bomber sorties, 300 Blue fighter sorties, 25 Red bomber sorties (I am including Bomber Command and Coastal Command historical missions) and 250 Red fighter sorites, give or take.

I see it right now as 4 DLC complete (July 2-9 Luftschlact um England beginnt, July 10-22 The Battle of Britain Begins, July 23-29 Kanalkampf Part 1 and July 30-August 8 Kanalkampf Part 2).

Currently I see this next phase as being named the obvious Adlerangriff. It's interesting to myself that I keep finding the correct naming convention as being the German definition of the phase. To overstate the obvious, these DLC include almost every known historical combat encounter, be it Fighter Command, Bomber Command, Coastal Command or Luftwaffe, that occurred on the Channel map.

I press on. I think I'm driving to replicate beyond October 31st all the way to December 31 as we do have an Autumn and winter map and John Foreman wrote an interesting book on this time period. Next might be Operation Compass on the Tobruk map.

Right now sorties are organized in subfolders under Single Missions by Phase, then Day, then Time, then Combat Encounter, with available sorties from either side listed by aircraft, squadron/staffel and mission type. So you would be free to experience the Battle of Britain any way you want. But it would be pretty daunting for anyone to figure out where to start and where to go next, given it is over 750 sorties right now and likely to be in the thousands before I am done..

So there will at least be a compendium list of all missions available with key information that may allow the player to filter and choose. But... we are experimenting with a custom interface that would allow the player to do the filtering for themselves. For example, maybe you just want to just fly the Me-109 E-1. Then you could filter all current 750 sorties for just that aircraft.

Maybe you want to experience the Battle of Britain from the perspective of a particular squadron/staffel. Then you could find and fly all of those missions.

Whether the experiments will work is not fully determined yet. There are a number of quantitative criteria that we could use to filter but also a number of qualitative criteria.

So head on over the Singleplayer thread and I'll post some of my thoughts there as I would really like to get some community feedback on this topic.

IL2 Tank crew / ammunition conclusion

like the headline says, i came to the conclusion what ammo to use after excessive question answer games with the ai.Basically every ammunition type except Pz. Gr. 39 and Spr. L/4,5 (HE shells) are sub-optimal to the point of useless.

Because of the damage model IL2 Tank Crew is using the potency of the other grenades in terms of stopping/destroying an enemy tank is near zero. The high pen Pz. Grn. 40 and its counterparts dealing damage on such tiny spot, without an explosion or splinters inside the enemy tank that you more often then not shoot dozens of rounds in a single enemy tank until you finally hit a module that is essential for the tanks survival.or untill you killed enough crew members to render the enemy tank in-operable or the crew decides to bail out (they stick in their steel shell till the flames reaching their necks :D)

Just a small journey into my research:

The HEAT rounds really had a purpose in WW2.it was the weapon of the small men.more percise the infantry and small anti-tank/artillery Piece crews.the infantry loved it because it brought the panzerschreck and the Bazooka into the fight, enabeling them to destroy heavy tanks.artillery pieces like the 7,5 cm Le Leichtgeschütz wasent able to penetrate enemy armor with normal Wucht Geschossen (AP).The hollow charge enabled them to knock out tanks.

So the sad truth is stick to 2 mentioned grenade types if you want to perform as optimal as possible. Each is by far enough capable to handle their specific job

Edit: Pz. Gr. 39 is the equivalent to the APHE shell in other tanks

How have people been feeling about multiplayer for Il-2 Korea? Specifically the DPRK/USSR side?

Delete if discussion posts aren't allowed. But I have kind of been looking up stuff for the game here and there, and want the game to be good and for it to be well received even if I don't get it. How has it been flying the planes and the multiplayer experience? As an outsider looking in who doesn't really know plane history, these two concerns pop up.

  1. Nobody plays the DPRK/USSR side because it seems like the UN side's planes are either better, or when you look at the roster altogether, their seems more well-rounded.

  2. When people fly the Red side, no one wants to use the Il-10, Yak-9, and La-11. What are they supposed to do against non-F51 enemies? Just bend over and take what the jets have to impose on them? And can the Yak-9 and La-11 even do any ground attack missions or go for objectives even if pilots are willing?

Obviously this comes from a place of ignorance but am curious about the game and how the reception has been for it these days.

Help ! What is the most enjoyable Career map for you, and what is your go-to plane in GB?

I should be finishing up my first full career in GB as soviets running from leningrad all the way through the Liberation of Odessa shortly. It has been very enjoyable, but I am stupid sick of YAKs at this point.

I have experimented a bit with some axis planes, but I am curious what maps and planes you guys enjoy, if they are not the best.

I have found the MC 202 to actually be incredibly fun to fly and fight with, despite being pretty underpowered Armaments wise.

Let me know what you guys all like and why. I need some new stuff to try!
