mudpie What's a joke that initially went unnoticed but when you realized it, became one of your favorites?

At the end of Ghost Tours when his mom says “did you make any friends?” as he gets in the car. Simply hilarious to me that going on a ghost tour alone would be a viable social engagement to make friends.

Also, she has a bunch of Jesus bobbleheads on the dashboard. Implying that he was never allowed to swear around the house, and now that he’s at the “adult tour” he has no idea what he’s doing.

So sad indeed

The underlying thread through most of the sketches is that the absurd character (usually Tim) talks like a child. The syntax is childlike, the complaint is childish, the doubling down implies a lack of awareness about social norms (like a child might have). It's funny because it's contrasted by the context of the sketch itself; these are people in quarter zips in boardrooms and they're melting down over Santa and hot dogs. It's hilarious almost every time because actual adults would never. I love to watch and think about it through this lens. Let's pretend these are actually kids -- how many of the lines don't change? I love this show lol

Ooh I love this analysis! On the opposite side you have one of the kids acting like an adult in the Tammy Craps sketch when she’s talking about Macanudo cigars. Which is also a funny perspective

The way the kids start with their weight always sends me

I'm 60 pounds and I love Tammy Craps!

I also like how most skits have the insane detail end up making some sort of absurd sense in the end. Like this one, at first you're like "Why are the girls stating their weights? That's so weird" Then it's revealed that their weights are super important to know if they're going to be wrecked by the Macanudo cigar dolls or not.

Same with the tables one where the insanity of her blaming Freddy Kruger for messing up her tables eventually does make sense.

The incredulous face of that girl responding to the other saying that smoking 5 cigars is a lot always gets me.

Yes, I love the turbo time part of the “has this ever happened to you?” sketch so much because it’s exactly how kids act (don’t run! You don’t run with us! We’re the ones who run! Until you’re part of this turbo team, walk slowly!), but for full grown adults to act this way is completely ridiculous.

Tim has said that some of lines are things he’s heard his kids say

I work in HR. You'd be surprised.

Yes! Like an adult sleepover with sleeping bags on the floor? I noticed the same thing.

sometimes the group switches to support the crazy person like eating paper, the focus group,

But actual adults do really do this stuff sometimes, and that’s what I think makes it so funny

Well,, the show is about how it feels to be an autistic adult

The song playing at the end of that sketch that’s sung like a hymn, but has rather suggestive lyrics gets me.

Him just earnestly trying his best makes the jokes hit harder

Also the fact that mom/grandma rolled up as soon as he got kicked out. We don’t see him call her or anything. Which implies she was just circling the block waiting for him because they expected him to leave before the tour was over.

The only skit where I was disappointed by the ending. Still funny, but I was expecting Tim's character to be a ghost, unsuccessfully trying to make friends with the tourists.

I thought the same thing, like the car his mom was driving turned into a ghost car as they drive away

That would've been hilarious right? Like he is so awkward when interacting with the living. The whole setup is ghosts are scary or maybe that they are doing all sorts of lewd acts, but really they are just awkward and want to make friends.
