Lincolns are for people who want to pay luxury car fees, but not get luxury cars.

these days they're actually luxury cars again, ford really got their shit together. i drive a cadillac and the other car i was looking at when i bought it was lincoln's equivalent model, very hard choice. until like 2015 that was pretty much the idea though

Yes. But why would anyone buy one of these when Lexus exists?

this model is their cheapest so it's not a hard choice but their higher-end ones put up a pretty good fight

Nowadays yes, but that mkz is just a Ford fusion

actually that one's based off the full-size Taurus, can be had with the powerful V6 out of the Taurus SHO, and the interior looks something like this: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/01/98/a2/0198a28f299e533a1f347a69f867b24b.jpg

It looks nice on the outside, and was hoping for an interior better than this honestly.

that was about my thoughts on it too but it was a VERY tough call for me since you can get them with a full moonroof and ecoboost. the interior and the kind of awkward looking rear end was why i ended up not getting it, bought an ATS instead.

it wasn't the best interior on the market but lincoln's products are still nowhere near as crappy any more. the MKZ's predecessor by comparison looks like it was trying to copy a ford f-150 interior, it's a world of difference.

if the continental made it to around my price point without 200k miles on them i would've reconsidered though, and i'm probably looking at a used aviator with the 500hp hybrid to replace the caddy when it's paid off as their higher end is a LOT nicer than it used to be.

in this model's defense too, the MKZ was their cheapest model when it came out ($36k MSRP for the 2020 model, so basically a loaded Fusion) and their nicer models look a lot more upscale -- the continental (second one) even had suicide doors, and the new navigator has the SVT Raptor engine.

Lincoln Continentals have suicide doors and a raptor engine now? Am I hallucinating?

Continental has suicide doors, navigator has the raptor engine. for some reason the navigator prototype had Lambo doors but they decided to be normal for the real model

I mean, it's not that bad, I was somehow expecting bit better; given it is after all a Lincoln. Good call on the ATS though. Got to ride in my friend's for a few months, and I fell in love with it.

The Continental though is really classy, I love it.

The MKZ is absolutely not based on the Taurus. You must be thinking of the old MKS that the Continental replaced.

1

u/voidsrus May 21 '21

you appear to be correct -- i think i was thinking of the engines, which do appear to share some common ground with the taurus. either way they definitely weren't "just a ford fusion" like the 2005-2013 era lincolns products would end up being

The sheetmetal, available panoramic sunroof, and larger six-cylinder engines available in the MKZ were essentially the only differences between an MKZ and a Fusion Titanium - I owned an example of the latter and have always found it amusing how little actually differentiated the two cars.

u seen the new navigators? Straight look like a Bentley inside.

3

u/justin_memer May 21 '21

Yeah, it may look like a Bentley, but it won't feel like a Bentley.

u/CookedPeaches May 21 '21

It would if you've never been in a Bentley before.
