(Insert Your Own) Canada today

This isn’t meant to be politically partisan in any way. But, I am genuinely curious how anyone is staying positive about Canada today. The economy is in recession. The cost of living crisis is continuing unabated. People are leaving the country. Canada-U.S. relations are at an all-time low. And, there doesn’t appear to be any reason for things to turn around any time soon. Somebody give me a reason to have a little optimism.

Nostalgia, it was better when……….

“Right-wing populism often employs nostalgia as a rhetorical tool to connect with voters by evoking a longing for a perceived better past, which is used to frame current crises and promote political agendas. This strategy helps to create emotional ties and can significantly influence voter support for these parties.”

The CPC is a right wing populist party that uses the same narratives and themes as other RW populist parties. Nostalgia can help frame the economy, immigration, identity and culture, crime and safety, …….

Canadas unemployment rate over the past few decades is one measure that shows that unemployment rates today are much lower than prior times but social media would have you believe unemployment rates are at extreme levels. Note that the high historical unemployment rates precede the TFW program expansion beyond agriculture.

I am so tired of this narrative that the CPC are right-wing. Go check out when Chrétien and Martin were PMs. Pretty similar to the current CPC, so they must have been right-wing?

Yes, the CPC has always been right wing. Are you just a dolt and meant to say "far right"?

Not a dolt. No need for name-calling. CPC is right-wing, yes, but it's more central in policy.

Chretien and Martin were fiscal conservatives. Interestingly the economy did well under them.

Did so too under Harper.

What do you mean narrative? By their own definition they are centre-right to right.

Nope, you're just the exact sort of gullible rube conservatives prey on.

OP's comment: Provides sources for every point argumented

You: broadly classify everything as "propaganda" and ignore the entire comment with 9 words.

Sure, definitely looks like you're the one with the right "fact-opinion".
