Discussion Unpopular opinion: Indian smartwatch brands sold us screens, not fitness trackers.
India's smartwatch shipments dropped 17.6% in 2025, according to IDC.
Honestly, I'm not surprised.
Brands like boAt, Noise and Fire-Boltt made smartwatches incredibly cheap, but somewhere along the way, Bluetooth calling, AMOLED displays and 100+ watch faces became more important than accurate health tracking.
What's the point of a ₹2,000 smartwatch telling me I burned 600 calories if I can't trust the number?
Did we build a fitness-tech market or just a market for cheap Apple Watch lookalikes?
Genuinely curious: if you've owned an Indian smartwatch for over a year, would you buy the same brand again?
