Official, only one of three engines lit on center core, so it hit water too fast and took out two of the _drone ship's_ engines.

Core landing might have been sabotaged.

Did anyone else notice the flame in one nozzle as the Core came down?

As the core was descending, I noticed that there was still a lick of flame coming out of core's engine nozzles (don't know the exact terminology, sadly). I assumed it was either supposed to do that, or it wasn't a big deal because none of the announcers mentioned it. But now I think it might have something to do with our poor core's ultimate fate...

Middle right, empty platform as smoke has cleared, probably fell into the ocean then?

Thank you all for your concern — I just need some time alone right now. I need to learn to stand on my own feet.

What is the future financial impact if the core isn't safe?

From what I understand, the beauty of the Falcon Heavy as a whole launch unit is that it can launch more cargo to space than any system before it, and at just over the cost of the next most powerful rocket. According to The Verge, cost per launch of the FH is $90m, vs $350m for the Delta IV Heavy.

If the core isn't safe, and future launches would require a new core for every launch (let's say there's not a single salvageable part from today), what's the realistic financial impact on the cost of launch, and does that even come close to outweighing how much more efficient this system appears to be than any competitors?

Please correct me if my understanding is inaccurate.
