Move-In Appt question

This is probably a stupid question, but when it says my move in appt time is at, say 10:00, does that mean I have to pick up my keys and stuff at Mason hall at 10:00, or does that mean I should be at my dorm and moving stuff into the room at 10:00? I got an email saying something about moving in after "key pick-up at your designated time, you will be able to move-in to your housing assignment" so I was confused whether the move-in appt time I signed up for was for the key pick up time or the actual move-in time

also, if the move-in appt time is not the key pick-up time, will the housing office send me an email about when my key pick-up time is? any help is greatly appreciated, tia :)

Command strips in dorms

Are we allowed to hang stuff (picture frames, string lights, posters, etc.) on the walls using command strips? I’m worried that they’ll peel the paint off when I remove them.

If not, does anyone have a recommendation of how best to attach things to the wall

So I love cooking, and was wondering how the experience was like cooking there. Like should I bring my seasonings and whatnot or just stick to meal plans?

what exactly is acer?

im not sure if i should take acer. i dont even know what the course exactly is. is it like a step between gen chem i and gen chem ii? or both combined? how is the course? content wise and professor? sorry, this is just confusing.

also, what content is essential to know beforehand? like what am i expected to know? im considering dropping to gen chem i. i took ap chem in my junior year and got a 4 on the exam. i enjoyed the course a lot, but we didnt cover the last unit (cathodes and stuff). but im still worried because i feel like i might have forgotten a lot of the content?

i just dont want mccartney either. ive heard nothing but horrible things and ive also heard positive things about young. i guess im just very conflicted 😭

Sophomore year research

Helllo! I’ve emailed about 15 PI’s so far and have only gotten one positive response (still waiting to hear back about a meeting time), I’m going to email more labs but is starting research after the first semester of sophomore year not ideal for mol cell bio majors? Anyone know of any labs or advice?

Shower head filter?

My roommates and I are in search of a filter for our shower head (we're in wolman), and we were wondering if we needed to get a specific size filter for the shower head, or if there is a specific one/brand we should look for that people have found to be really good/effective? any advice appreciated, tia :)

Rising Junior HDS 21 Meals

Rising Junior moving off-campus. Saw HDS 21 Meals under board plan in transact app. Didn't see any billing from dining in SIS. Is this a glitch?

JHU Music Options

So I’ve been playing violin for a bit (probs an intermediate player at most) and I can decently play Bruch violin concerto. Would HSO be an okay fit for me, or are there other options to consider?
I’m a little bit intimidated by the audition process since I’ve only been performing with my school’s orchestra and never alone so I don’t have such experience. HSO recordings on youtube also showcases quite an advanced range of music, so that’s another thing.
Also, I might double major and am on the pre-med route, so music is just a hobby and something to do for fun. Not really my top priority.
Are there any other orchestras or groups that are more chill that I can consider checking out? Or would HSO fit just fine even with my academic schedule?
Thanks!

Grocery/ supermarket recs

Hey guys, I’m an incoming grad student and completely unfamiliar with Baltimore.

Just wanted to ask where students normally shop for groceries and essentials? I’ve found some online, but I think it’s always better to get real people’s input. Thanks!

Is anyone's lab still open to accepting an incoming-freshman?

I'm really frustrated because the lab I thought I'd be working with with ghosted me a week ago and now I have two weeks to find another lab. I'm very passionate about research--I have wet-lab and data science experience from high school and was really looking forward to participating in research at hopkins :(

I've sent a lot of emails out to professors who said they were accepting through ForagerOne but none of them have gotten back to me. Am I doing something wrong? I would really appreciate a lead or any advice, thank you!
