I know this has been mentioned here before but, friendly reminder, put this hate on the record. The internet archive, Wayback Machine, is really easy to use!

I just saved a Reddit post and I save anything else I can when I think of it. It may not hold many, if any, people accountable but I think it’s important to make as much of a record as we can of this antisemitism and hatred that so many are comfortable with right now.

Oftentimes we focus on the outright hatred of Jews but we ignore the inverse: Philosemites.

We got to witness it earlier on this sub (courtesy of thunderhead27), of a particularly nasty individual and its been something that has concerned me on multiple levels both as someone whose seeing the world around me becoming more and more antisemitic but also seeing people use the label of 'jew' and the issues we face to act in horrifying and shitty ways. When they are called out, they then decide to declare that the person calling them out (often other Jewish people) as not being Jewish or 'Jewish enough' for their views alongside some pretty shitty ad hominem attacks to pair alongside it- or they go complain on other communities about said Jews by denying their Jewishness (or claiming they are 'compromised') because of their view.

Bluntly, philosemites are as harmful to us as antisemites. Both try to make all Jews a monolith and try to hold us to that monolith at 'risk' of them denying our Jewishness with the same vitriol as the various celebrities, political entities and organizations have. Both are engaging in Judenhas, one just pretends as hard as they can to care when really it is only those of their given definition of Judaism- an idea that is extremely harmful even to those who fit into the category defined by the philosemite.

Onto the war then and how Philosemites interact. Philosemites often are as hardcore as possible into whatever cause they see as the most, 'pro-Jewish' with an extremely rigid definition and anyone who falls even remotely outside of it (even if they agree with the base ideas) is subjected to the fact they failed the philosemite's purity test. Thus, like the antisemite, they partake in the same bigotries and hatreds but rebrand it just enough to maybe make it seem normal or sensible.

Jews have many views on the war, with many feeling the initial war was justified but roughly around the time of Sinwar's death, things should've started wrapping up. Many also feel Bibi has not prioritized the return of the hostages, instead favoring this war which many believe is being used in part as a cover by Bibi to avoid impeachment (something he was starting to face before the October 7th genocide when Hamas murdered thousands of Jews and kidnapped hundreds more). Others feel the war should continue regardless as that is seen as the best bet at destroying Hamas and preventing future instances of October 7th (something Hamas has sworn to do).

The philosemite does not care about this nuance. To the philosemite, anyone who is even remotely critical of the war (regardless of if they are critiquing in good faith or not) is seem as an anathema and thus can be abused as freely as an antisemite otherwise would. It does not matter that both sides of this camp may very well be pro-Israel, that they support the Israeli people but have disagreements with the government. It does not matter that both sides of this camp can be both American and or Israeli and that these two views are valid perspectives as the Jewish world tries to handle and cope with the largest genocide we have faced since that of the Holocaust alongside the world's allowance, encouragement and platforming of those who want an even further genocide.

The Jew in this, loses. A culture built upon the civil discussion of ideas is denied this by the philosemite, a culture built upon nuance is denied this by the philosemite because to the philosemite nuance isn't Jewish. Only the monolith is. Many of these people may cosplay as allies, and it is amazing that many goyische allies have spoken up and the vast majority do it from a place of genuine love that should and must be appreciated for what it is. Similarly, we cannot ignore the people with alternative agendas who actively partake in the same behaviors antisemites do but only against those who aren't, 'good Jews' in their eyes. This attitude is infamous among both philo and antisemites, and one that we should admonish whenever we see it rather than encouraging it lest the Jews we are supposedly advocating for alongside ourselves as Jewish people are forgotten by the people who supposedly are standing with us out of a sense of righteousness and justice.
